Chapter 32

(In Virgil's Point A view)

It didn't take long for Severide to get things sorted to get to our children, once the Ariel set up Severide made his way up there. He did radio down to say that Robyn was still holding onto Joshua and she wasn't going to come out with people that she didn't know. So cuz radioed backup to say to stay there and I would get suited up to join him. Once I got ready I headed up to join Severide. When I arrived I looked through the window at my daughter. "Robyn sweetie Daddy is here, we need to get both of you out of here and this is the only way to do it. I promise it will be nice and quick and this guy is called Kelly he is going to help us. Are you okay with that?"

"Okay Daddy I can do that, where is Mummy and scotty?"

"She is just next door waiting on you both so that you can give her a cuddle, you did a really goos job with Joshua and we couldn't be any prouder of you.

"Daddy what going to happen to the bad lady?"

"Police are on their way in now sweetie, you are safe and so is Joshua, come on lets get you both down and into Mummy shell we? Now that I was able to talk to Robyn who seem to be a bit calmer now. It took us about five minutes to rescue my kids. Once they were down I took our kids back to Jo in our hotel room. I knew at some point the police would need to talk to Robyn about what had happened.

While Jo was getting both Robyn and Joshua settled, I went back outside to talk to Severide about investigating the fire at our place.

"Hey Virgil is everything okay?"

"Could you investigate the fire that happened in our place? I really don't want anyone else to do it and I can trust you."

"It will be up to OFI but I think it will be okay for me to do it, Do you know who is behind it?"

"We have a fair idea who it could be, the people that lived next door to us didn't like our family for a number of reasons and when we went out for dinner a couple of nights ago we just got told to watch our backs by this person. I didn't think that she would go this far to be honest."

"Would you want to head back there now to check your place out?"

"I would love too but I need to go and speak to Jo about it, Do you mind hanging on here while I go and speak to her about this?"

"Okay we will hang on here while you go and speak to your wife about this."

So I headed back up to our hotel room, when I got there I could see that Jo managed to settle both Robyn and Joshua. They were both on the sofa bed watching some cartoons with Scotty. So I walked over to Jo who was making something to eat.

"Hey Virgil what's wrong?"

"I need to go and help investigate this fire that we had, I think we know the person who is behind this and I want to prove it,"

"Virgil we have just got our children back and you want to go some where else. I don't know Virgil what if something else happens while you are away. I don't think that I could handle it without you being here.

"Jo look I won't be too long then I will come back here and we can have some dinner once the kids are in bed. If you still are unhappy being on your own I can always get Mum or Holly to drop in here if you like, I have got to look into this fire and get started on making plans to get our place sorted. You will be fine just cuddle up with Robyn and our boys.

"Okay just please be careful and call me when you can, no matter what the situation is I will always worry about you."

"I know Jo in fact you can be there when PD arrest this woman. You have been through a lot over the last few years. We will put her away for good this time"

"What if I get a phone call from the hospital about Rebecca?"

"Then I will come and meet you at the hospital, just take things easy for now and relax. You deserve it" I said while pulling my wife into a deep kiss. I then made my way back down to squad three and we made our way to the apartment. Once we got in we could see that the kitchen and hall way just got hit. The lounge seemed fine. While Severide went to check the kitchen and the hall out I went upstairs to check every where. I picked up some fresh clothes and whatever baby bottles where left in our bedroom. As I was coming down stairs Severide is standing there waiting.

"Someone definitely done this, it looks as if a fire work had been put through your letter box and that is how it started, you told me that you know this person should we go and have a chat with them?

"We may as well go and see what Mrs Evens has to say for herself, she won't be getting away with this now."

"Do you mind me asking what she has done? To make you think that she has done this."

"My wife was raped my her foster father and she watched it happen and didn't do a thing to stop it. We got them to court and they got about 15 years. We went out for dinner to bump into her and she told us to watch our backs. This lady really hates my family." I said as we made our way over to Mrs Evens house. We knocked on her door but it took a while for her to answer it.

"What the hell are you doing knocking on my door?"

"You know what we know what you have done to our home."

"Easy Virgil let me ask the questions from here." Said Severide as he put his hand on my shoulder for support. Now Miss Evens where were you at four o clock this afternoon?"

"I was still working, what has this got to do with me?"

"Is there anyone who can verify this for us?"

"Yes my boss."

"Okay Severide if you give me a couple of minutes I can give the restaurant a call to ask about this."

"No problem Virgil, I will keep asking questions here and see where we are going. While Severide started asking more questions I gave the restaurant a call to see if her boss can back her story up.

'Hello this is P3 restaurant how can I help you?"

"Hey would it be possible to speak to your manager please?"

"This is she how can I help?"

"We are just checking to see if you can conform that Miss Evens was in work at four o clock today?"

"Why are you asking this?" Asked the manager of the restaurant.

"We think that your employee may have set a fire to a house and we just want to verify with you that Miss Evens was there."

"Okay well I let her go a couple of hours early today, she told me that she wasn't feeling well. I didn't know that she had this planned."

"Okay thanks for telling me."

"No problem." After I said goodbye I made my way back over to Severide and told him that the manager had said that she wasn't there at work at the said time. So we waited on PD arriving to take her in to interview her some more. Once PD arrived we made our way back to the apartment so that I could get some things and lock up.
