Gamelover41592:
Matt (Guest): I meant Midday and Midnight.
IllusionSign (Guest): Oh, they will meet at a later point in the story.
So, just to clear up what I said last time about the Lycanrocs, I meant Midday and Midnight forms. Who would get what? Anyways, like I said, time to head for Akala Island on one of my favorite new things from the Ultra Games! Let's get going!
"OH. MY. GOD!" Kitty squealed. Once she finally got off Tauros, she was easily able to beat Hala thanks to her Cutiefly. This meant that it was time for both girls to head for the next island in the challenge order: Akala Island. However, on their way back to the lab/house in order to get some supplies before they left, they came across a pair of Rockruff siblings.
"Let me guess, you want us each to take one?" Emma realized with a fond smile. She liked this idea.
"Yes!" Kitty cheered. "Yesyesyesyes!"
"Why don't you pick first?" Emma offered. Kitty smiled and grabbed the Rockruff closest to her, snuggling it to her face. It barked happily, signalling that it already liked her. With a happy bark of its own, the remaining Rockruff walked over to Emma and nuzzled her leg. From there, it wasn't hard to get the two new Pokémon into their Pokéballs.
"So, when do you want to head for Akala Island?" Kitty asked.
"Let's head back into Hau'oil city," Emma said. "Unless you don't want to wait for Hau?"
"No!" Kitty said a little too loud and forcefully. Emma raised an eyebrow as Kitty clapped her hands over her mouth. "Sorry, that was too loud. Let's wait for him."
"Alright then," Emma said as they headed towards the city. She was trying not to let it show, but she had a feeling that Kitty's outburst had more to it then just being excited...
"Hey, there you girls are!" Hau called out as he raced over to the girls. They had just come out of the Alola Photo Club (Emma was just watching. Kitty had dragged her inside). "I bet you and your starter got some great shots together at the photo club, right?"
"I did. Emma's too much of a grump to do it," Kitty replied. Emma nudged her.
"Now it's time for our next stop!" Hau declared. "Akala Island, here we come!"
"You said it!" Kitty agreed. Hau was about to raise his fists, but he then noticed the Photo Club.
"Man, once I get started with all the poses and stickers and things, I can't stop myself!" Hau admitted. "I'll spend ages making sure that Dartix is looking awesome, so I should hold off on taking any photos of my own for now. Wouldn't want to leave you bored and hanging."
"Thanks for that," Emma quickly said, slapping her hand over her sister's mouth to keep her from speaking up. "I wonder what kind of Trials await us on the next island?"
"Good timing kids," Kukui announced when he walked over with Lillie. "I've just got the old girl all ready to set sail."
"Oh. Yeah. So, about that, Professor…" Hau began to ask. "I was thinking I'd really like to head to Akala Island with Mantine!"
"YES!" Kitty cheered. She had forgotten about Mantine Surfing! "Dad, I wanna do that too."
"Right...well, I guess it's up to you two!" Kukui decided. "The Island Challenge is all about journeying together with Pokémon, after all!"
"See you on Akala Island dad!" Kitty said with a wave. "Em, you coming?"
"I'll take the boat," Emma told her. "But I'm sure you guys will have some fun anyway!" With that, she walked away with Kukui and Lillie while Hau and Kitty headed towards Route 2.
"Um, Emma, I was hoping to ask a favor of you. Is that alright?" Lillie asked after she and Emma fell a bit behind Kukui.
"Of course!" Emma assured her.
"You see...Nebby is...it's real home is far away from here. And I want to help it get home," Lillie explained. Emma's eyes went wide as Lillie continued. "It's like I told you before...Nebby saved my life once before when I was in trouble. Now I want to save it! I feel like there's not much I can do on my own, since I'm not a Pokémon Trainer...But if I had a real Trainer like you or Kitty helping me, then maybe…"
"Of course Kitty and I will help you," Emma cut her off. "We're your friends after all!"
"Oh, thank you so much!" Lillie gushed. "I'm so glad! I really didn't know what else to do! Then, I suppose...we will keep running into each other, huh?"
"Pew!" Emma just gave a fond smile. She would help Lillie out. Both as a Professor...and a friend.
"Hey, do you think we could ride these Mantine to Akala Island?" Kitty asked the lady on the beach.
"So I take it you beat old Hala?" The lady asked. Two nods. "Our Mantinte would be thrilled to have a couple of able Trainers like you riding them!"
Hau raced over to one of the Mantine. "Great! So, like...how do we actually do Mantine Surfing?" Kitty facepalm when she realized that neither of them actually knew how to Mantine Surf.
"Just go up to a Mantine and introduce yourself." The lady told them. Kitty and Hau both changed into their bathing suits and the former walked over to a Mantine. She was slow and calm as she stood on the Mantine. Slowly, the Mantine moved into the harbor. Soon, it sped up. Kitty kept her balance. She was speeding across the sea.
"That was awesome Kitty!" Hau cheered as Kitty came back. She wanted to make sure Hau was okay.
"I know," She said confidently.
"You better be ready for the mischief makers of Team Skull to do some Mantine Surfing too!" Almost everyone on the beach groaned as two Team Skull grunts ran over to the beach.
"Oh. Team Skull," The lady dryly noted. "You know you guys can't ride here."
"What's up with that!?" The second one demanded. "We look like kids to you or somethin'?!"
"No, the real reason is…" The lady trailed off, almost as if she couldn't believe she actually had to say this.
"Yeah, the real reason is…?" The first one asked.
"Everytime you try, you keep up those ridiculous dance moves on Mantine's back!" The lady finally said. It took every ounce of willpower Kitty had not to burst into laughter. "And then you end up in the water.
"You want us to stop dancing?!" The second grunt exclaimed. "That's our identity, yo! It's all we've got!"
"Man, forget her B!" The first grunt said.
"We're Team Skull! No one can stop us from acting hard headed!" Grunt B declared as both rushed over to Mantine.
"Somebody! Please keep these numbskulls away from Mantine!" The lady cried.
"We got this!" Kitty declared as she and Hau pulled out their Pokéballs.
"What are you two looking at?!" The first one snapped as he looked over Kitty and Hau. He then realized something. "Huh!? You're one of those sisters!"
"You wanna scrap, tiny trainers?!" The second one barked. "A battle, yo? Your sister might've beat us in Hau'oil City, but we'll put our heads together to beat you this time!"
"Please," Kitty scoffed as she and Hau got ready for battle. In spite of Team Skull's best efforts, Kitty and Hau beat them effortlessly.
"Agrh! How'd we lose to two kids, yo!?" The first grunt snapped.
"Now I gotta make someone else miserable to make myself feel better!" The second one said. "Let's go bother Ilima again."
"I'm down for that," Grunt A agreed. "Verdant Cavern's pretty close by anyway." He then turned back to the kids. "Hey you! You better listen to what my homie says and drill it into that thick skull of yours! Seriously, you'd better not forget, numbskull!"
"Good luck!" Kitty called after them as they ran off.
"Man, what is up with those guys?" Hau asked, hands behind his head.
"I have no idea and really don't care." Kitty replied. "But right now, we have some surfing to do!"
"Oh yeah! Let's do it!" Hau declared. Kitty hopped back onto her Mantine, while Hau got into another one.
"Race you to the island!" Kitty called out to her friend.
"Oh, you're on!" Hau called back as the two laughed in joy as they surfed along the waves.
"Land ahoy! Or land ashore? Whatever you say!" Hau declared as he jumped off Mantine. "And I believe I won!"
"No way! I totally beat you!" Kitty replied as she walked over to him, giving him a playful shove. "But we made it! And that was awesome!"
"So, do you think that the Professor, Emma and Lillie are here already?" Hau asked.
"I don't know," Kitty admitted. "Let's split up and see if we can find them in town anywhere!"
"You got it!" Hau declared. The two raced into town, laughing all the while. They found that one of the exits to the beach was blocked by a bunch of Pyukumuku, so they ended up going together.
"Hey, I see the boat!" Kitty called out. She pointed towards it, causing Hau to start jumping up and down happily. They rushed towards them.
"Hey, Kitty and Hau!" Kukui exclaimed as his daughter gave him a big hug. "There you are! How was your trip on Mantine?"
"It was awesome!" Kitty declared.
"That's what I like to hear, yeah," Kukui said. "Tackle your Island Challenge with that same attitude!"
"Wait, so Mantine's even faster than that old boat of yours, Professor?" Hau asked.
"Well...that boat has seen better days…" Emma sheepishly admitted.
"Pew!"
"Still haven't managed to find a shirt that goes with your lab coat, hmm, Kukui?" Everyone turned to see a woman in her thirties, standing with a much younger green haired girl. "I've told you you're gonna scare off strangers looking like that…."
"...Nebby, back into your bag," Lillie immediately said when she saw the women coming towards the group.
"Don't sweat it, Lillie," Kukui assured her.
"Lillie, this is the Kahuna of Akala Island, Olivia!" Emma exclaimed.
"Hey! Thanks for stopping by!" The other girl greeted them. "I'm Mallow, one of the captains here!"
"I was on my way to see who was pulling into port and ran into Mallow here while she saw out on a delivery," Olivia explained.
"Yup!" Mallow agreed. "My Trial will be a chance for all the fine ingredients that make up your team to shine!"
"And Mallow isn't the only captain here on Akala Island, of course!" Olivia assured them. "So? What's your plan here?"
"Yeah, that's up to these kids. " Kukui answered for the group. "It's their Island Challenge, after all!"
"Yes...I suppose so." Olivia agreed. "Ok, then. Enjoy your time on the Island Challenge, kids, along with your Pokémon. I'll be waiting for my chance to face you in battle when the time comes. I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got! Let's go, Mallow." She then walked off. Mallow waved at the group before following.
"I'm sure she wanted to come see that you made it here alright." Kukui told the group. "But she'll never admit it to you, hah! That Olivia for you. She's a kind Kahuna, deep down." He then turned back to the kids. "There are three Trials here on Akala Island. If you three decide you want to take on the Trial right away, head up to Route 4 and keep on goin' until you get to Paniola Town."
"Personally, I'm checking the town out!" Kitty declared as she rushed off.
"Kitty, wait up!" Emma called out as she chased after her sister.
"I wonder what kind of malasada they have here," Hau wondered as he ran towards the Pokémon center.
"Maybe I'll see about some shopping of my own…" Lillie said. "And I should find out about the ruins for Nebby's sake, too." She wondered what a normal childhood would be like. One like Kitty, Hau, and Emma's….
Correctly guess the shout out in the title of the chapter, win a prize! Anyways, next time, we met the regional edgelord! See you then!
