Gamelover41592: Thank you!

Matt (Guest): Wait, which Pokémon were you talking about?

IllusionSign (Guest): I try!

I think Kukui has been getting a bit too much time with the girls. So let's get Burnet back in the story!

"Go Nebby! Use...use Splash!"

"Huh?" Emma and Kitty just arrived in Heahea City and had found a strange sight: Lillie attempting to command Nebby as if she were in a Pokémon battle.

"Pew?"

"Heh….I was just acting like I was Emma and Kitty," Lillie unknowingly admitted to the girls. "You...you always seemed to end up getting hurt, Nebby. Seeing that pained me just as much as if I was the one getting hurt. But if I could become as strong as Hau, Emma and Kitty are...then maybe things would be different…"

"Pew?" Nebby then began to walk towards the girls.

"Oh!" Lillie exclaimed, walking over to see the girls. "Um, oh, Emma, Kitty. Hello. I feel like it's been a while since we last met. Th-there's a laboratory here that studies the dimensions, did you know?"

"Yeah, this is mom's lab!" Kitty declared.

"Oh! So are you here to see her?" Lillie asked.

"That was the plan," Emma admitted.

"How...how are your Trials? It must be quite trying to do three in a row," Lillie asked.

"It was pretty tough, but we could handle it," Emma bragged.

"We got a lot of new Pokémon too!" Kitty chimed in.

"Goodness, really? It wasn't any trouble for you to tackle all three of Akala Island's Trials?...I suppose that explains it." Lillie noted. When she noticed the girls were still confused, she continued to explain. "The reason you look so content and understand Torracat and Brionne." She then headed into the lab, with Emma and Kitty following closely behind.

"Hello girls!" The receptionist greeted the sisters. "You and your friend here to see your mother?"

"You bet!" Kitty said.

"Enjoy!" The receptionist called out to the girls as they walked towards the elevator. Kukui was already in the lab once the girls arrived.

"Hey there, honey!" Kukui waved to his wife.

"Oh, hi!" Burnet called back as she walked over her family.

"Mom!" Kitty and Emma both cheered as she tackled their mom into a hug.

Burnet laughed as she hugged her daughters back. "Good to see you girls! How are your challenges going?"

"We're getting ready to face the Grand Trial!" Emma proudly declared.

"That's my girls!" Burnet said with a laugh as she ruffled both her girls' hair. She then looked around. "Hm? No Hau today?"

"Hau? He's out doing his own thing," Kukui explained. "But he'll be the real deal someday...he could even become a Kahuna, just like old Hala before him!"

"You really think so!?" Hau exclaimed as he ran over.

"Whoa-ho!" Kukui exclaimed in shock. He recovered pretty quickly. "Well, yeah, I really do."

"Good to see you again, Hau! It's been a while since I saw you." Burnet greeted.

"Anyhow, beyond me bringing the girls to see you, I wanted you to tell them about some of your new research about that mysterious phenomena," Kukui explained.

"Yes! Tell me more!" Emma begged. Sure, she wanted to study Pokémon behaviors, but learning about the dimensional wormholes was beyond interesting.

"Oh, you must mean...the Ultra Wormhole!" Burnet began to explain. It was honestly for Hau, as she knew that Emma already knew a lot about this. "It's extremely rare, but sometimes a hole opens in the sky over Alola. It appears that this rift leads to a different and unknown dimension. The reason that people think there may be a mysterious dimension is because of the legends of fearsome Pokémon appearing from the Ultra Wormhole."

"Pew…"

"It's very weak as proof, but I can't ignore it." Burnet admitted. "There is also plenty of evidence already in the Pokédex for the existence of different dimensions, right?"

"Fearsome Pokémon…?" Hau questioned.

"Even normal wild Pokémon sometimes ask people, right?" Emma jumped in for her mother. "But those things that come out of the Ultra Wormhole went way beyond that." She looked at the ground. "They were called Ultra Beasts….and they were feared."

Burnet then decided to explain the rest. "If the stories are to be believed, the guardians deities of the islands fought desperately against them. But like I said, it's all legends and folktales. It's hard to know how much is true. But I would be very happy if I could somehow unravel the mysteries of the Ultra Wormhole by studying the dimensional disturbances!"

"Part of the reason I sometimes help my mom out is because they do a lot of studies into known relationships between Pokémon and different dimensions. The books are on the bookshelf." Emma said. Everyone broke apart at that point, walking around to different parts of the lab. Emma read over one of the books, looking over the few drawings they had of these so called 'Ultra Beasts'. Were they even Pokémon?

"Hey, Lillie?" KItty asked. Emma looked up to see that they were decently close to her. "What did happen three months ago?"

"You...you really want to know?" Lillie asked. Both girls nodded, as Emma had now joined her sister. "Well, I'd wanted to learn more about Nebby...I mean, about Cosmog. So I decided to come speak to Professor Burnet. But I got lost along the way...and ended up wandering about until I collapsed on the shore...and well, you know where it goes from there. You've all been so kind, and you're still helping me try to find a way to get Nebby back to its own home. You've all been like...like a real family to me."

"Aw, Lillie!" Kitty gushed as she pulled Lillie into a hug. "You are totally like the little sister I never knew I wanted!"

"Heh...thanks…" Lillie said shyly. She looked over at Emma, who just gave an approving smile. Suddenly, the ground began to shake.

"What's going on!?" Emma exclaimed.

"Look!" One of the scientists called out as he pointed towards the window. There was a glow coming from outside, despite it being nighttime. Rushing outside, everyone looked to the sky to see a giant crack in the sky. It remained for a few more seconds, then vanished just as quickly as it appeared.

"That was…" Kitty trailed off. Everyone already knew what she was going to say.

"Well...I'm sure that was a nice surprise for you two before you head off for the Grand Trial," Kukui said with a laugh.

"Hey, Emma, Kitty!" Hau called out in order to snap the girls back into focus. "So you've made it through all three captains' Trials, yeah?"

"Yep!" Kitty declared. "Emma and I are planning to head out to Konikoni City tomorrow!"

"Good luck!" Hau said happily.

No, I did not forget about Burnet. She just wasn't in the story yet. But here's a cute meeting between mother and daughters before the latter heads for the Grand Trial of Akala! See you later!
