IllusionSign (Guest): Oh yeah. Gen 7 can get really creepy at certain points….

Time for the Trial with the fan favorite Pokémon of this generation and for Kitty to get her final Pokémon! Let's go!

"Great, how are we supposed to get across these rocks?!" Emma exclaimed. After she and Kitty had opened their next gate, they found the way across the mountains blocked by sharp stones. It was too dangerous to walk across normally.

"Greetings, girls," Hapu called out as she walked towards them, her Mudsdale in tone.

"Hi Hapu!" Kitty greeted her with a wave.

"Well met! I was seeking both of you," Hapu explained. "If you're going to travel about Ula'ula, you ough to to do it while astride a Mudsdale. There is no call for hesitation. Consider it my thanks for Akala Island." Grabbing both girls' Ride Pager, she quickly registered a Mudsdale.

"Wow, that was perfect timing!" Emma marvaled.

"It was remiss of me not to register one for you when we met one another in Malie," Hapu apologized. "I was just so taken aback by Lillie and how lovely she was that it escaped me."

"I know, right?" Kitty replied. Emma raised an eyebrow at her sister, but didn't comment.

"By no means was I just for a time when you were in trouble," Hapu assured them.

"Ni-hiii!"

"Let me pose a question...do you know of the Ultra Recon Squad?" Hapu asked.

"Believe me, we do," Emma answered. She was getting annoyed about the lack of answers she was getting from them.

"They seem to be here to investigate some ill that weighs heavily upon them. Luckily, it is quite in keeping with the people and Pokémon of Alola to help those in need," Hapu noted. "If you seek the next Trial, go straight on through here to Tapu Village. I'll be cheering on your island challenge!" With that, they headed off.

"Welp! We can get across the rocks now!" Kitty cheered as she summoned a Mudsdale for herself. "Let's go!"

Emma smirked as she summoned her own Mudsdale. "Wait up!"

"How did you get so far behind me?" Kitty asked as Emma finally caught up with her. When she noticed that Emma was no longer following her, Kitty had opted to wait on her sister outside of a nearby house.

"I got held up at Blush Mountain and…" Emma trailed off as she tossed out a Pokéball. Out came, much to Kitty's happiness, a Vikavolt. "Finally figured out how to get him to evolve!"

"That's awesome Emma!" Kitty cheered for her sister.

"Hey, been meaning to ask, but when are you planning to catch a sixth team member?" Emma asked.

"I'm hoping soon," Kitty replied. "I just haven't found anything that really interests me, you know?"

"I understand," Emma assured her. "Sometimes, you don't know until you see it in action."

"Emma, Kitty!" Hau exclaimed as he raced over to them.

"Geez, Hau!" Emma cried as she clutched her chest. "You're gonna give me a heart attack!"

"Sorry, Emma," Hau replied sheepishly. "Phew, that Vikavolt was strong! But I managed to get through the Trial, too. Maybe managed to get a bit stronger, eh?"

"That's awesome Hau!" Kitty cheered for her friend.

"Thanks Kitty. I heard from Sophocles how you just breezed through that Trial yourselves," Hau said with a smile. "You two are something else!"

"I know," Emma said smugly as she gave her hair a toss.

"You only have one volume, don't you? Haven't you ever heard the expression that silence is golden?" Everyone turned to see Gladion walking out of the motel they had stopped at.

"Gah! He's back!" Hau cried.

"Listen, Team Skull is looking for a Pokémon called Cosmog…" He began to explain. "Do you three know anything?"

"What!?" Hau exclaimed as he rapidly began to shake his head. "N-not that we'd tell you!"

"So you do know something," Gladion realized. "Look...Cosmog isn't even a strong Pokémon. But it has the potential to summon Pokémon so terrifyingly strong that you don't even know. If something like that happened, it would be a disaster for Alola…"

"Then what are we supposed to do about it?" Emma asked with her arms crossed.

"Protect it!" Gladion exclaimed. "If you do know where Cosmog is or if you do find anything out...just keep it safe! I know I might be working for Team Skull right now, so you may not trust me or care but...I'm going to tell you this just once. You have to protect Cosmog...no matter what!" With that, he began to walk off, only to pause. "I still don't understand how Team Skull found out about Cosmog in the first place…"

"What do you mean? No matter what? You're just going to leave us hanging?!" Hau tried to ask. Gladion just walked off. "Guys...if they're really looking for Cosmog, then...is Lillie gonna be okay?"

"Yes," Emma declared firmly. "Look, I hate not knowing what is going on, but I know that we've got to keep them both safe."

"Then there is only one thing to do," Kitty began. "Take on the next Trials in order to get stronger!"

"You said it, Kit!" Hau agreed. Emma just smiled. "Look, I know Guzma was saying all those things, but I really wanna complete my Island Challenge and help people learn about Pokémon battling! And, I dunno, I've gotta make sure I really get what my partner's feeling too!" With that, he raced off, with Emma and Kitty hot on his heels.

"Hey girls! Over here!" Hau called out once they arrived in Tapu Village. "Phew...look up there! Seems like we're almost to the Aether House, where the captain is supposed to be, huh?"

"Looks like it," Emma noted.

"So that way lies Mount Lanakila, huh?" Hau noted as he looked towards the stairs. "I guess they're really making a Pokémon League up there on the peak...your dad told me that Pokémon Leagues in other regions have four crazy-strong Trainers in them that they call the Elite Four! The Elite Four and our island Kahunas...I wonder which ones are stronger! I'm pretty sure my gramps is the strongest, but I can't wait to find out for sure!"

"I bet we will soon," Kitty said, already fantasising about her being the champion.

"Hey! Alola!" Hau greeted the Ultra Recon Squad as they walked over.

"An Alola to you!" Zossie replied.

"So this is Tapu Village!" Dulse exclaimed. "We will need to investigate it quite thoroughly. According to the records we have left to us, it seems this was where Necrozma battled against the Tapu long ago, hungering for its light. It may be the case that the power which came pouring out of the Ultra Wormhole at that time is what changes a Pokémon's regular moves into Z-Moves. Such theories have been suggested...our ancestors were greedy, and they sought to control all of Necrozma's light...but what was the result of all that? They only hurt Necrozma, making it lose a part of itself and causing it to run wild and steal all the light it could find!"

"Sounds like this Necrozma is a dangerous being," Emma noted.

"That's why we have Necrozma cooped up in the Megalo Tower our great ancestors built. It contains Necrozma in its rage," Zossie explained.

"But that facility has reached its limits…" Dulse noted gravelly. "And Necrozma hungers for light...That is why we came to Alola in hopes of finding a new method to defeat Necrozma. Yet...it seems it will be a difficult mission for us, who are so new to Pokémon battling, to ever hope to defeat Necrozma."

"I don't know how much longer it will take before your protections fail, but if you ever find yourselves needing any help with Necrozma, the three of us would be glad to help," Emma offered.

"...Thank you," Dulse replied before he and Zossie walked off.

"We would?" Hau asked.

"Yes, because it's the right thing to do," Emma replied.

"Besides!" Kitty chimed in. "Being able to take on an ancient all powerful Pokémon sounds awesome! And I'm sure Emma wants to do some research on it."

"You're not wrong…" Emma sheepishly admitted as she stared at the suddenly very interesting ground.

The Aether House was easy to find, as it wasn't that far from the town. However, inside, there were no people. Only a single Oranguru.

"Huh, surprisingly empty," Kitty noted.

"Strangers!" Two young kids exclaimed as they rushed over to the group.

"You spoke too soon," Emma deadpanned.

"Sorry,"

"This means battle!" The girl declared.

"What?! Why?!" Hau asked.

"We'll protect our home when Acerola's way!" The boy chimed in.

"Would we be able to get by without a battle if we had these?" Emma asked as she held up the charm that showed she was on the Island Challenge.

"Oh! Okay!" The girl said once she saw the charm. "You guys are just waiting for Acerola to challenge her Trial, right?"

"Yep!" Kitty replied.

"Think we'll be able to go on an Island Challenge someday?" The boy asked.

"You bet!" Hau replied. "But, uh, could you get this fellow to stop gnawing on me?" Everyone looked to see a Yungoos biting his leg.

"I'm ba-a-ack, everyone!" Acerola declared as she walked back inside. The first thing she took notice of was the three Trainers. "Hahaha! Looks like I finished up my shopping spree right on time! You've already met everyone?"

"Oh yeah, we met already," Hau replied with a shrug. "They tried to battle us…"

"Hey, where's Lillie?" Kitty asked, remembering that she had gone with Acerola earlier.

"I left her with Hapu. They should be coming soon," Acerola answered. "So why don't we get those Trials done first? You did know I'm the captain, right?"

"So, who's going first?" Hau asked.

"Dibs!" Kitty called out almost instantly.

"Fine," Emma replied. "I wouldn't mind checking this place out a bit."

"We'll show you!" The girl declared as the boy took Emma's hand to lead her away.

"Good luck Kitty!" She called out.

"Let's go then!" Acerola declared as she led Kitty outside.

"What do you think you're doing!? Stop it! Stop it right now!" Lillie ordered a Team Skull grunt.

"For real, girl!?" He mockingly asked. "Your bag was moving! Right in front of my eyes! And I'm just supposed to ignore that!? If you've got some rare Pokémon in there, I'm gonna have to take it and make some cash! Even if it's not that rare of a Pokémon, I bet I could still get paid yo."

"Hey, back off!" Kitty ordered as she raced down the stairs, jumping in front of Lillie.

"Kitty!" Lillie exclaimed in relief.

"Oh, so we're following that script, are we?" The grunt asked. "A Trainer dashes forward to save the girl, huh? I'm not gonna let you be the hero of this scene!"

"I've been beating you clowns up this whole Challenge. This shouldn't take that long," Kitty replied smugly as she pulled out her Pokéball. Sure enough, it didn't take long, with Kitty effortlessly taking down the grunt's Drowzee.

"This result...what's up with that?" The grunt questioned before running off. "Later!"

"Phew...thank you Kitty," Lillie said. "I just wanted to go for a stroll on my own, to see what it must feel like to be a Trainer...so Hapu and I went our separate ways...but then Nebby tried to get out of my bag…" She then turned to the bag and scolded it. "Didn't you!? Go on, you little troublemaker...you better thank Kitty, too!"

"Pew!"

Kitty snickered. "You're welcome, Nebby."

"Oh and...um. When I was out shopping, I kept thinking about how I wanted to be some help to you and Emma during your Island Challenge...and then I saw these." Lillie revealed as she handed Kitty some Luxury Balls.

"Oh thank you so much!" Kitty replied. "I was running low on Pokéballs anyways."

"I bought them without even thinking!" Lillie admitted sheepishly.

"Oh, Lillie!" Acerola called out as she raced down the stairs. "What's the matter? You look all worn out. Do you want to rest in the Aether House awhile?"

"Oh Acerola…" Lillie trailed off, thinking about what she wanted to say. "Thank you! I think I might take you up on that."

Acerola then raced off, only to quickly turn around. "And you, Kitty! We can reach my Trial sight from Tapu Village. Come on, follow me!" With that, she headed off.

"Looks like I got to go," Kitty said with a smile. "Emma and Hau are inside."

"Good luck!" Lillie said as she turned to head inside.

"Interesting place to hold a Trial," Kitty noted once she arrived at the supermarket.

"The time has come, Kitty!" Acerola declared. "So, I guess I should explain what kind of Trial this is, huh? This old building is full of lots of Ghost-type Pokémon. Did you know?"

"Ghost type Trial, got it," Kitty internally noted.

"Here's where the Trial part comes in," Acerola continued on. "You've got to find the Totem Pokémon of this site and snap a shot of it with a Poké Finder!"

"So taking pictures?" Kitty questioned. "Easy! I love taking pictures of things!"

"That's good, because the totem is a bit of a trickster, and it likes to play hide-and-seek and mess around. If you take pictures of the other Ghost-type Pokémon inside, it'll definitely come out to get in on the fun and have it's picture taken, too! So, if you see something weird happening inside this old place, try to check it out!" Acerola explained. "I bet you'll find a Ghost-type Pokémon causing mischief, so get a picture before it's gone! I'll just borrow your Poké Finder for a sec."

"Here you go!" Kitty said as she held it out. Acerola took it and began to fiddle with it, before handing it back to Kitty.

"There! I've set it up to use a special shooting mode just for this Trial. You'll only be able to use it at this sight though," Acerola revealed. "As soon as you enter the building, your Trial will begin. Got it?"

"I'm ready!" Kitty said with pride. With that, she walked towards the doors and yanked them open. "Wish me luck!"

"I feel like that girl who took pictures of all the ghosts with the camera in that haunted town," Kitty thought to herself. The Gengar line was causing trouble inside, making it easy for Kitty to snap pictures of them. It was pretty easy to defeat them too. But the strangest thing was that she could swear she could see a Pikachu headed towards the back. When she reached the back, she was surprised to find Acerola staring at a door.

"Hey!" Kitty called out. "You here to cheer me on?"

"...Who are you?"

"Uh...I'm Kitty," Kitty replied unsurely.

"Oh...never mind that," Acerola said. Kitty was pretty sure something was off with her voice. "Looks like you're done with the Trial, right? We should hurry up and leave this place."

"But...I haven't found the Totem Pokémon yet?" Kitty pointed out. "So I'm not finished yet."

"This place is dangerous," Acerola replied, confusing Kitty. She sounded fine sending her in a few minutes ago. "You should give up on your Trial and get out."

"I'm not done yet," Kitty repeated.

"I told you to get out!" 'Acerola' snapped at Kitty. "Get out."

"No,"

"Get out. Get out! Get OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT!"

At this point, Kitty was on the edge of a panic attack. She grabbed the first Pokéball she could reach in hopes that whatever it was could protect her. She got Lycanroc.

"I'm going in," She said, trying to sound as brave as possible. She suddenly got an idea. Pulling out her Poké Finder, Kitty snapped a photo of Acerola, causing her to vanish.

"Rock?"

"I have...no idea what that was, buddy," Kitty was forced to confess. She looked at the door. That was the only place she hadn't explored yet. With a sigh, she pushed the door open.

And sitting on the floor was a Mimikyu.

"I guess you're the totem," Kitty said as she pulled out her Poké Finder. Lycanroc had already moved to protect her, readying itself for battle. She took the picture and the Mimikyu launched forward.

"Rock!" Lycanroc had already attacked, using Rock Tomb. It did no damage, but it did break Mimikyu's disguise.

"It can block damage?" Kitty thought to herself. She had heard about Mimikyu's Pokédex index and she did feel bad about them. She smirked. She had just picked her final teammate, but she had a Trial to win. The Mimikyu attacked with Shadow Claw, causing Lycanroc to flinch. "Okay, let's switch out." She then grabbed another Pokéball. "Primarina! Let's go!"

"Priiiii!"

"Alright, Primarina!" Kitty began as she placed her Primarium Z into her Z-Ring. "Unleash your power with your Z-Move: OCEANIC OPERETTA!"

"PRIMARINA!" The Mimikyu was swept into a torrent of water, dealing heavy damage. The Mimikyu launched another Shadow Claw at Primarina, but by that point, it was nearly over. One Shadow Ball later and it was over.

"Welcome back, Kitty!" Acerola said as Kitty walked towards her. "I can check your pictures right away!" Kitty handed over her Poké Finder. "Now let's see how you did...yup! That's Mimikyu alright! It's pretty hard to catch it on film, so this is a really great attempt! Which means…" She handed Kitty a Ghostium Z.

"Alright!" Kitty cheered.

"And since you passed my Trial, you now have my permission to catch Pokémon in the Trial site. So, in that old building there." Acerola said.

"Actually, before you get Emma or Hau, I think I do want to catch something…" Kitty replied as she looked back towards the building.

"Sixth teammate!" Kitty declared as she returned outside, her new Mimikyu sitting on her shoulder.

"I think it will be perfect for you!" Acerola cheered.

"Although...what were you doing inside?" Kitty felt the need to ask.

"Oooh, cut it out, Kitty!" Acerola replied with a laugh. "You're just trying to scare me, huh?"

"Uh...yep! Just joking!" Kitty replied nervously. Why was her hair standing on end?

Like I would be able to write this story without giving someone a Mimikyu! Literally the third most popular Pokémon of all time. And I felt like it fit Kitty better than Emma. So there you go! No idea what is coming next!
