Alright, time for one of the best post game's in any video game! Let's go. It's been about a few weeks since Kitty became champion.
When Kitty first became champion, she knew that there would be a lot of hard work involved. And one of the first things she had to do was rearrange the Elite Four. Molayne and Kahlil could stay, as they had no prior roles in the island challenge. Olivia abandoning her kahuna duties to be a member of the Elite Four, however, was seen as highly disrespectful and Acerola doing the same with her captain role was seen as only slightly less disrespectful. So she had to find new people to fill their roles. The first person she found was a Dragon-Type trainer named Ryuki. From what she could tell, he was a very talented trainer and a few battles proved her theories. He was happy to accept the role.
The second replacement? Guzma.
Kitty still remembered the shocked look on his face when she first approached him with the offer.
"You want me to do WHAT!?" Guzma exclaimed in shock. This girl had to be kidding, right? Sure, he had disbanded Team Skull (still planning to keep in touch though), but she already wanted him in a position this important?!
"I want you to be a member of the Elite Four," Kitty repeated. "I know you want nothing to do with the Island Challenge, but think about it! If you hold a high position like this, you could help bring change to it!"
Guzma was about to respond, but Kitty's words slowly sank it. She had a point. And he was one of the best trainers in Alola after all. "...Alright, I'll do it. But I'm not going to do it the normal way. I'm gonna give these kids advice!"
Kitty chuckled. "Just don't do anything crazy,"
"Kitty!" Emma called out as she entered the champion's chamber. She was wearing a lab coat over her normal outfit. She had gotten it the day she started at the Aether Foundation. "What are you doing here? There's no challengers today,"
"The chair is really comfy," Kitty admitted sheepishly. "And I'm still trying to get it to sink in, you know?"
Emma smiled. "I get it. But Lusamine is going to do a public speech on the Necrozma mess and I was wondering if you wanted to come watch with me, mom, and dad,"
"I'd love to!" Kitty exclaimed as she jumped up. "By the way, how's Lillie been doing?"
"She's doing fine," Emma said as she gave a knowing smirk. "She said Gladion's doing good too." Shortly after Kitty's victory party, Gladion had announced that he was leaving for Kanto in order to do some more training.
"Kitty! Good to see you out of that chamber again!" Burnet jokingly greeted her daughter once she and Emma arrived at the lab.
"Well, I've gotta get used to it somehow!" Kitty protested before getting pulled into a bearhug by Kukui.
"How's my little champion doing!?" He cheered.
"Dad! Can't...breathe!" Kitty protested. Kukui let her go, causing her to take a deep breath. "But I'm doing okay! Still a little bummed there's been no challengers yet."
"Just give it time!" Kukui assured his daughter. "I'm sure people will be coming from all over to take our Island Challenge and challenge the first Alolan champion!"
"Hey! It's starting!" Another scientist called out. Everyone turned towards the TV, Emma tucking into a bowl of popcorn that had been provided.
"...This just in. The Aether Foundation is holding a press conference as we speak, addressing the black clouds that appeared over Poni Island," The reporter revealed. "We go now to our live coverage at the scene…" The picture then changed to Lusamine, Wicke and Faba standing in front of the Aether Foundation.
"I know that many of you must have heard of the dark clouds covering Poni Island on the news…" Lusamine began. "You may be concerned now about what is going on, but let me put your fears to rest. This phenomenon was caused by a previously unknown Pokémon called Necrozma. Necrozma passed through an Ultra Wormhole, a wormhole that connects different worlds, and came here to steal Alola's light."
"...Necrozma? What does she mean, steal our light…?" People behind the camera questioned.
"There is nothing to be worried about, though," Lusamine assured the crowd. "Thanks to the actions of two brave trainers," Emma and Kitty shared a knowing look with each other. "the threat has already been dealt with. Alola will not be swallowed by darkness." The crowd of reports began to take pictures and ask more questions.
"Where's Faba going?" Emma questioned, pointing to the man, who was walking off.
"The Aether Foundation will conduct extensive research into the Ultra Wormholes, so that we can prevent any such event in the future. To be specific, we will begin by-" Lusamine continued, only to freeze when an Ultra Wormhole opened up.
"Wha-!? That hole...How is that possible…?" Wicke exclaimed.
"An Ultra Wormhole? But how?!" Lusamine exclaimed. Suddenly, the camera turned around, only to be knocked out by a man in a strange outfit. "Who...exactly are you, sir?"
"The technology of the Aether Foundation…the knowledge of other worlds-it will be very useful to Team Rocket...or rather...Team Rainbow Rocket!" A strange man in what the family could only guess was a suit declared as he and his grunt walked past Lusamine.
"Did he mean to suggest that his people create this Ultra Wormhole intentionally…? We will not allow this to go unchecked!" Lusamine declared as she rushed off.
"P-President! Please, come back!" Wicke called after her.
"Hello? Are you seeing this? The sudden turn of events has left the scene in chaos!" A reporter declared. "Team Rainbow Rocket…? Is this some kind of prank?" The cameras then turned off.
"What the heck was that!?" Kukui exclaimed.
"Team Rocket...isn't that the team of clowns from Kanto?" Burnet asked.
"Emma! Kitty!" Lillie exclaimed as she rushed in.
"Alola, Lillie," Burnet greeted her.
"A-alola, ma'am. I'm so sorry to come barging in all of a sudden," Lillie replied. "I was just watching the news, and...and-"
"We saw," Emma assured them. "You need any help?"
"Yes please," Lillie immediately replied. "I'm sure mother must be fine, but...still…"
"Hey, if we could beat Necrozma, we could beat these clowns!" Kitty proudly declared. She pulled her Ride Pager out. "Let's fly!"
"Wicke!" Kitty exclaimed when they saw her waiting for them. Lillie rushed over and began talking to her, then turning back to Emma and Kitty
"Mother! And Aether Paradise! It's all...It's just all so...It's all gone wrong!" Lillie exclaimed.
"Let's take a deep breath," Emma said as she put a hand on her younger friend's shoulder. "We're gonna get through this."
"I-I'm sorry...I'm just so worried…" Lillie replied.
"It's good to see you again, girls," Wicke greeted them. "Please, let me explain the situation. As you may know, the president called a press conference to address the black cloud that engulfed Poni Island, but...An Ultra Wormhole suddenly opened, and a mysterious force took over her mansion! The culprits call themselves...Team Rainbow Rocket. I've heard of Team Rocket before, when I was in the Kanto region...They were an underground criminal organization that used Pokémon for their activities. I think this organization has come to Alola now…"
"And Mother…" Lillie trailed off. "Wicke says that Mother has been taken captive by this Team Rainbow Rocket!"
"I am trying to come up with as many ways to save the president as possible, but...to be honest, the situation isn't good. The enemy is too powerful, and on top of that we don't even know why they're interested in the Aether Foundation," Wicke continued to explain.
"I...I want to save my mother," Lillie declared. "But we just aren't strong enough on our own…"
"That's why we're here!" Kitty proudly declared. "Emma and I can do anything!"
"And hey, Lusamine's my boss, so I have some other stakes here," Emma joked. Thankfully, everyone laughed.
"Oh thank you so much! I feel so much better knowing you two are on my side!" Lillie cheered.
"There's a swarm of Team Rainbow Rocket Grunts ahead," Wicke warned. "Please be careful, you three!"
"We will be!" Kitty replied as all three girls rushed outside.
"Déjà Vu much?" Emma said. The Rainbow Rocket grunts were in almost the exact same position as the Team Skull grunts when they were helping Lusamine.
"What, more foundation members who haven't learned their lesson?" A Rainbow Rocket grunt barked as he walked over to the girls. "Ahead is the new HQ for Team Rainbow Rocket! Begone intruders!"
"That's rich coming from you creeps," Emma snarked as she pulled out her Pokéballs.
"Please, leave this person to me…" Lillie requested. Emma and Kitty watched in shock as she pulled out a Pokéball of her own. "You should go on ahead!" Nodding with smiles, Emma and Kitty walked ahead.
"Hey, body count contest?" Kitty asked her older sister.
"You are so on!" Emma declared as the two girls faced the grunts, grinning all the while.
"You know, with how these creeps took over, I was hoping for at least a bit of a challenge," Kitty said, her hands laced behind her hands in a manner similar to Hau. The girls tore through the grunts effortlessly.
"I know right?" Emma agreed. "Either we both are just that good, or beating Necrozma desensitizes us to challenge."
"Why not both?" Kitty jokingly offered, causing her sister to burst out laughing. The girls then looked ahead. In front of them was a large castle. "You know, even if these guys are totally evil, this is a pretty cool castle."
"You know, I have to agree with you...even if I hate it," Emma grumbled. Lillie then walked over to the girls.
"Emma! Kitty!" She called out as she rushed over. "The mansion...it looks like some kind of castle! Is this also because of the Ultra Wormhole that Wicke was talking about?"
"How do you drag a whole castle through the wormhole?" Emma questioned out loud.
"Stop right there," The girls turned to see Faba walking towards them.
"Mr. Faba?!" Lillie exclaimed. "Wh-what are you doing here?"
"I strongly suggest you abandon your efforts to thwart Team Rainbow Rocket," Faba threatened...or at least tried too.
"Oh, you mean the grunts who Kitty and I just effortlessly beat?" Emma mockingly asked. Faba staggered, but remained firm in his stance.
"What...do you mean by that?" Lillie had to ask.
"If Team Rainbow Rocket takes over Aether Paradise, the organization will grow far beyond where we are today...and more Pokémon will be saved!" Faba revealed. "...And if I can assist it in doing so, no doubt my career will reach new heights! Such a wonderful thought, wouldn't you agree?"
"...You're kidding, right?" Emma asked, dumbfounded at how stupid Faba was. "Is this because Lusamine likes me more?"
"You really think they'll help Pokémon!?" Kitty exclaimed. "They are a criminal organization! There is no way they will help Pokémon!"
Lillie was the last to realize what Emma and Kitty were yelling about. "Mr. Faba...did...did you…? Y-you wouldn't…"
Faba finally stopped laughing and turned around. "Ah, as astute as ever, Miss Lillie! The same intuition that told you to rescue Cosmog still serves you well, I see. Yes, you guessed correctly! I have taken it upon myself to facilitate Team Rainbow Rocket's take-over and ensure everything goes smoothly." He then realized what Emma said. "And I am not letting a mere child steal my job!"
"I don't want anything to do with you!" Emma immediately retailted. "Let alone take your job!"
"Mr. Faba, how could you?!" Lillie exclaimed. "We...we trusted you!"
"I didn't," Kitty replied.
"Neither did I," Emma added in. Lillie glared at both girls.
"The Aether Foundation is not some tool for you to use to move up in the world!" She continued once she turned back to Emma. "You have to make Team Rainbow Rocket stop all this at once!"
"...You may be astute, Miss Lillie, but I see you are less inclined to listen to reason," Faba replied. "Now, even I would be hard-pressed against the champion and her older sister, especially if Gladion or the grandson of the kahuna were aiding her...but with you tripping her up, perhaps it won't be so difficult for me to win, even against the champion! I thank you in advance, Miss Lillie!"
"Oh, you do not get to talk to her like that!" Kitty snapped. Emma said nothing, but nodded her head.
"Traveling with Emma and Kitty has changed me, too! I'll show you my full power!" Lillie declared.
Faba chuckled. "...As you wish. Then I, Branch Chief Faba, Aether Paradise's last line of defense, shall show you little children the harshness of the real world!" Two other Aether Foundation employees joined Faba and got ready for battle.
"Ready for this, Lillie?" Emma asked as she sent out Incineroar.
"I'll help you two in any way I can!" Lillie replied as she sent out a Clefairy, followed by Kitty sending out Primarina. Kitty and Emma did most of the heavy lifting, but Lillie's Clefairy provided plenty of support. Working together, the three girls easily won the battle.
"Hmph! I'll have you know defeating me won't do you any good, anyway!" Faba insisted. "The Ultra Wormhole has resonated with the boss's ideology and has gathered the toughest, meanest villains from many other worlds!...Although, for now, they seem content just to do whatever research they wish, using the technology of Aether Paradise. Now, I hope you enjoy your futile efforts!" With that, he walked off.
"I hope you enjoy losing your job!" Kitty called after him.
"Let's get moving," Emma said with a stoic look. With nods, the girls walked in. Inside, everything had changed from the calm white to a dangerous looking black and red.
"This is hurting my eyes," Kitty deadpanned.
"Not even this room!" Lillie exclaimed. "I had so many memories in this room…" She then ran over to the mirror teleporter. "I want to check out the rest of the mansion, but the door hidden behind the mirror won't open...Let's go back to the entrance and see if we can find another way."
"Alright, let's get moving," Emma agreed with a nod. But before they could get outside, they were confronted by two grunts.
"Intruders!" The first grunt snapped before rushing over to the girls.
"You'll be sorry you messed with Team Rainbow Rocket...also known as Team RR!" The second grunt declared.
"W-wait one moment! My legs started shaking and they won't stop…" Lillie begged.
The first grunt chuckled. "Now who in the world waits just because an intruder asked them to?"
"Mmm, such a pretty princess! Don't worry, we're going to obliterate you nice and proper!" The second grunt mocked.
"HEY, YOU PUNKS!" Everyone turned to see Guzma walk in.
"M-Mr. Guzma!?" Lillie exclaimed.
Guzma began to laugh. "The hated boss who beats you down, and beats you down and never lets up...Yeah. Big Bad Guzma is here!"
"Hey, I know you.." The first grunt realized. "You're the boss of that pathetic group that got disbanded-Team Skull! I wouldn't expect this much from just an Alola thug."
"No visions, no ideals...what does such a worthless punk want at Team Rocket's castle?" The second grunt asked.
"Heh...I gotta admit...You got me all figured out!" Guzma replied. The grunts were starstruck, but remained firm. "I might not have my team anymore, but believe me when I say I got somethin' you punks couldn't dream off! I'm officially one of the best trainers in the region! And I still got things I can't let go...Things ain't nobody gonna mess with! And guess what? You punks just messed with one of those things! I can't let that slide…" The grunts went into a battle stance while Guzma just laughed. "Hey champ! Gimme a hand here!"
"You got it!" Kitty agreed as she joined Guzma in battle. Needless to say, it was over quickly.
"What?! We're Team RR! We're not supposed to lose to a kid and a punk!" The first grunt exclaimed while shaking his head.
"They...they won't be obliterated," The second said in disbelief. With that, the grunts rushed off. Each opened up a different gate and rain throughout.
"Thank you for helping me, Mr. Guzma!" Lillie thanked him.
"I just beat down the goons who were gettin' on my nerves, that's all," Guzma insisted. "Now, what're you standin' around for? You got a score to settle, too, don't you!?"
"Yes we do!" Lillie agreed.
"Wanna split up Kitty?" Emma offered.
"Dibs on the left!" Kitty agreed. After Lillie healed their Pokémon, both girls were off.
So first things first, Guzma and Ryuki joining the Elite Four. I noticed that the story built up this major importance over being picked by a Tapu as a Kahuna, and yet Olivia freely abandons her duties to join the Elite Four. So I decided to make it so that she and Acerola were simply stand-ins until someone else could be picked. From there, I went through the list of challengers for the champion title. I did consider Gladion and Hau in Guzma's spot, but I felt like neither would be a good fit. As for Ryuki, his design screams that he should be important and yet he gets nothing. Anyways, next time, Kitty and Emma are gonna fight their way through Team Rainbow Rocket's leaders! See you then!
