A.N: Those who have been here a while might recognize this fic. I took the original version of Memories down and am in the process of rewriting it. It is an older fic that needed to be updated, and so I'm using NaNoWriMo to do so. I have added a few chapters and reworked the older ones so it's a bit... better. In the original, Xander was more of a vindictive asshole than I intended him to be, so I reworked his character and now I feel he is a bit more sympathetic. Hopefully that comes through. Thank you for reading, and please do leave a comment if you have anything to say, good, bad or neutral. All feedback is welcome.

Much love,

Dear reader,
Life is never easy. I don't think it was ever supposed to be. If it were easy, so many people wouldn't be suffering in this world. Sometimes things will happen to you, causing you to lash out and do equally terrible things in return. Eventually, all that pain you cause will have eaten away that you fail to recognise the person in the mirror. Trauma changes you. No matter what kind of trauma, it has its way of making you forget who you used to be, and blurs the lines between what is real and what is just your imagination.

Forgiveness should come easily, but often it requires a lot more work. It's a huge test, but I promise, like any test, it is worth it in the end. But those seeking redemption can't do it alone. Some have been searching for forgiveness and redemption for so long alone that they we learn that we are on this journey alone. But that's not true. We need people in our lives to give us the support and trust we desperately need. We need someone to give us that extra push onto the path of redemption that is difficult to give yourself.

I was alone for a very long time, so I didn't have the push I needed. My life was a ball of controlled chaos waiting to explode at any given moment. I was a grenade. I was doing everything I could to feel... something. I'm thankful that all of that is behind me because I have found my path. However, lots of people haven't and have no idea what they need to do. So I decided to tell my story. I've been told that it could possibly help someone, and that's all I can do.

To you, dear reader, I give my history.
Alexander 'Xander' Levesque.
