Jake's alarm chimed at its usual time. He must've forgotten to turn it off. The ELL (English language learning) students were taking a test that morning so they rest of the students got two hours off the beginning of their school day. Jake was disappointed in himself as he groaned in bed; the night before he was so excited to sleep in.

He rolled over and squinted, shutting off the alarm. He tried falling back asleep but after two minutes went by he decided to give up.

Jake sat up, his chest feeling heavy. He dragged himself out of bed into the bathroom. After using it, he looked at his hands while washing them. They looked smaller than usual, kind of dainty. His fingers looked so slender.

He brushed his teeth then took out his new face soap his mom got him from its box. He splashed water on his face. After rinsing the soap off, he looked in the mirror groggily. Why'd his face look . . . different?

He speedily moved closer to the mirror to get a better look. His lips were a bit plumper and his jaw had changed slightly to a more oval shape. Instead of sticking up, his short black hair flowed down a little past his ears, still containing its green tips.

His hands slid down his face in astonishment, traveling down his neck then over his baggy T-shirt to his chest. He closed his eyes and tried to inhale and exhale deeply to calm himself down. He opened his eyes back up. Same face. Who did this to him? He gripped his hands in annoyance. Jake slowly looked down at his hands gripping his boobs. Boobs? That's when Jake screamed, waking up the whole household immediately.

His father swung open the door. "What's wrong, Jake?"

Jake turned to his father with a face of horror. His father's face morphed into horror as well. "Dad, I don't know what's happening!" Jake said, hearing himself. His voice was higher and scratchier.

"Susan!" his dad called.

Haley trotted sleepily to the bathroom door. "Is mom okay?" she asked, rubbing her eyes. "I heard her scream."

"That wasn't her, that was your . . . brother. If I can even say that."

"Say brother? What do you-" One glance made Haley burst out in laughter. "Jake, is that you?"

Jake groaned, "Not funny!"

His mother sprinted to the bathroom. "Haley, dear. Are you alright?"

"It wasn't me screaming it was your daughter."

"Daughter? You are my daughter."

"Your other one." Haley pointed to Jake.

Susan looked at the person who was once her son. He was standing there, face wet, arms crossed, frowning. "Don't tell me that's-?"

"That is," his dad stated.

"Jonathan, what happened to our boy while I was in the room?"

"I don't know, he was like this when I got here."

Jake growled, "I think I know exactly how this happened."

Alicia, Spud, and Trixie held in their laughter as best as they possibly could as they sat before female-Jake not too long after. "Cia, I just know your mom did this!" he accused in anger. "Now undo it. Please!"

She shrugged, smiling goofily as a product of holding in her laughter. "I don't know how to fix this. I never even heard of a spell about changing sexes."

"Then can your mom fix this? I feel so weird." He hugged himself, feeling disturbed. Sure, he switched bodies with his sister one time, but seeing himself as a girl really messed with his head.

Spud stood up and patted him on the back. "Don't worry, man- er, woman. Cia's mom probably slipped something in your pancakes on accident."

"No, it was on purpose." Trixie stood up as well. She leaned in Jake's face. "How does it feel bein' a girl, Jakey?"

Jake absolutely hated that nickname. "And how does it feel that my boobs are bigger than yours, Trixie?" he shot back.

She huffed, "Whateva."

"So can your mom fix this?" Jake asked Alicia again.

"Sure, but I don't know if she's back from grocery shopping, yet. We can go check right now, if you want."

"Yes! I do want," Jake begged. "I hate this."

"I'd love being a girl for a while," Spud said.

Trixie scoffed, "Of course you would, you're weird."

He rolled his eyes. "C'mon, there's no way you're not curious in seeing yourself as a boy."

"I'll pass," she told him.

"Same," Alicia added.

A very angry Jake knocked on Alicia's door. Hard. He was still in his T-shirt, hoping no one could recognize him because though he was a girl now, he still looked extremely like himself.

Carol opened the door. "Oh!" She was surprised to see her daughter's friends with her. Then again, she shouldn't of been. She definitely wasn't surprised at all to see an angry feminine version of Jake. "Hello, American Dragon," she greeted casually. "Wonderful of you to visit."

"What'd you do to me?" Jake asked.

"Nothing at all. If anything, you look better."

"Mom," Alicia chimed in, "What did you do to my friend?"

"Ugh, so serious. Ruining the mood; acting like I'm the bad guy." She twirled her hair innocently. "You guys said Jake would make a pretty girl. So all I did was slip him a potion in my delicious pancakes. They were good, weren't they?"

"Mom, stop changing the subject."

"I was bored, can you blame me? I miss work but I'm here for my little Alicia. Being a stay-at-home mom is quite dull, did they ever tell you that?"

"But he's my friend," Alicia stated, failing to hide the annoyance in her voice. "Why'd you have to go and do that?"

"We're witches, causing chaos wherever we go is our thing." She lifted Alicia's jaw to make direct eye contact. "It's funny. Laugh."

"Can you undo it?" Jake asked.

"No, I can't. It lasts 24 hours. So, enjoy!" She closed the door.

Trixie muttered, "Damn."

"What am I gonna do?" Jake panicked. "I-I can't go to school like this!"

"Look on the bright side:" Spud mentioned, "you're hot."

"Thanks?" Jake responded, unsure.

"I'm so sorry," Alicia apologized while staring at the ground. "My mom can be such an asshole sometimes."

Spud placed his hand on her shoulder. "It's your mom, you shouldn't call her that," he said softly.

She pulled away. "But it's true. She does stuff like this all the time and only thinks of herself then groups me into it, telling me it's what us witches do. That I'll end up like her. I'm nothing like her. Now do you guys see why I don't get along with with my mom?"

Everyone stayed silent. She had a point, there was no point for her mom to do that besides the excuse of being a cunning witch.

She turned to Jake. "Again, I'm sorry for what my mom did. You must think I'm so weird. I get it if you don't wanna hang around me anymore."

Jake smiled sweetly. "Cia, it's fine. It'll only last 24 hours, right? I've been through worse." Alicia looked up at him and smiled back. Trixie broke the quietness with a laugh. Jake asked, "What's so funny?"

"I can't get use to your new voice," she cackled.

"Shut up."

"You were the one who asked what's funny."

"What if," Spud began, "Jake pretended to be a whole other person for school. That'd be crazy."

"Yes, Jake!" Alicia beamed. "You can wear Trixie's clothes and come to school as 'Jackie'!"

"Jackie? I'm lovin' this idea," Trixie commented, still laughing.

"No way! I'm staying home."

Twenty minutes later, Jake was standing in Trixie's room in a red crop top and dark blue mom jeans. "Why'd I let you guys convince me?" he sighed.

"Ooh, you look great, Jakey- or should I say, Jackie," Trixie laughed once more.

He covered the parts of his stomach that the crop top didn't cover with his arms. "I feel exposed. And these jeans feel like they could fall off."

"You may have the boobs, but you don't have my butt to be fitting in them jeans," she smirked.

"You look great, Jackie!" Spud gave him a thumbs up.

"Quit calling me that," he blushed.

Alicia checked the time on her phone. "I'm gonna go home to change. See you at school." She jogged out the door.

"I'll see you guys at school, too," Spud waved goodbye as he made his way out.

Jake felt like everyone was staring at him, and that's because they were. People whispered as he walked down the hallways with Trixie by his side. He could hear some of the things people were saying: that he was cute and where he's from. Jake wanted to just yell at all of them he's a guy. Been a guy, always a guy. He tried hiding his face in his books.

"Do you think they'll recognize me?" Jake mumbled to Trixie.

"Not a chance, Jackie."

"Stop with that nickname," he stressed.

"Hey, if I call you by your real name, then they'll really recognize you."

The two walked to Spud and Alicia. "How's being a girl?" Spud teased.

"I hate it," he grumbled. "Everything is cold."

Alicia giggled, "Yeah because you're wearing a crop top with no bra, not because you're a girl."

Trixie defended, "Hey, I had to improvise on the spot. It's not like any of my bras fit her."

Jake crossed his arms over his chest, self conscious of people looking. "'Her'? I'm a 'him'."

"Hey, new girl," someone said. The four looked towards the halls. Brad and his friends were making their way to the group. "My buddies and I were wondering what's your number? You're cute."

Alicia scrunched her face in anger. Trixie replied, "Are you not gonna ask for her name at least?"

"Who needs names? She's adorable with or without one."

Jake laughed lightly to himself, ready to make Brad eat his words. "Actually, I'm-"

"Jackie," Trixie filled in, "his- her name's Jackie."

Brad shrugged. "Didn't ask, but okay." He leaned towards Jake. "So, Jackie, you gonna give me that number or not?"

"Not interested in guys," Jake stated truthfully.

"Oh. One of those." He turned around. "See you 'round then."

"So you do that right in front of my face?" Alicia questioned.

Brad looked back. "Thought you wanted nothing to do with me. But, if you want to give it to me, you have my number." He walked back to his friends.

Alicia stormed off. Spud followed her. "Uh, see you guys in gym class," he told them.

Alicia stomped to an empty hallway and leaned against a wall, wiping some tears. Spud looked around. "There you are."

"Not now," she told him.

"I'm not going anywhere. Talk to me."

"He's such a jerk for that," she sniffled, "like nothing happened."

That hurt Spud. "Why do you care?"

She looked up at him. "What do you mean?"

"Why do you care so much? Do you like him or something?"

She could hear the frustration in his voice. "Are you getting possessive?"

"Maybe."

"Spud, we were never a thing."

"So?"

"So, we don't know each other."

He walked closer. "As if you know Brad any more."

She looked away from him. "Just forget it. I'm fine. See?" She blinked multiple times to show no more tears were falling. "Thanks for caring, like a good friend." Alicia walked back to the main hallway.

Friend. Is that all he was to her? Spud knew they haven't know each other for long but it was like she was latched onto him. He couldn't get his mind off of her. He figured maybe it's because she took his virginity but it seemed more than that. Yet it felt that all she did was push his feelings aside. Maybe she was like her mom after all.

What Spud didn't know is that Alicia was scared. She regretted everything she said. She even regretted getting mad over stupid Brad. Especially the fact that he saw her storm off; he got to see how upset he had made her. The witch was just confused all while feeling guilty her mom "created" Jackie.

Jake walked to the boys' locker room before gym class. Everyone looked at him strange, speechless. He opened his locker casually and took out a T-shirt and shorts. It was awfully quiet, so he turned to the shirtless boys staring at him. "What? he asked.

"You lost?" one guy said, smirking.

"No? This is third period."

Another guy chuckled. "This is the boys' room."

Jake blushed, feeling stupid. "Oh. Right. Sorry." He took his things and left.

Jake stood outside the girls' door. This felt wrong. Sure, most straight teenage boys would be exhilarated to have an opportunity such as this one, but Jake wasn't like that. At least most of him wasn't like that. Part of him was excited.

He couldn't just wear what he had on to gym class. He wanted to blend in as best as he could. Jake took a deep breath and opened the door.

No one cared. No one even looked at him. And to his happiness, most girls were already finished with changing. Still, he was awkward and averted his eyes to the ground as he put his things on a bench.

A girl next to him closed her locker. "Are you new?" she asked him. "Never seen you here."

Jake nodded and looked at her, looking right back to the ground immediately. She wasn't wearing a shirt.

"Don't be shy, I don't bite." She sat on the bench and pulled her long black hair into a ponytail. "It's nice to see another Asian girl at the school. Gets lonely."

Jake nodded again, still looking away.

"You afraid of changing in front of others?"

"Y-Yeah."

"It's nothing, really. Everyone's kind and minds their business." She pulled her shirt over her head.

Jake sighed. Might as well get it over with. He held the ends of his shirt when he realized. "I have nothing under," he said out loud.

"That's cool. Go to that wall." She pointed to a corner.

"Why?"

"I'll cover you."

He smiled. "Thanks."

A little after, Trixie walked up to the girl. "How's it going, Lilly?" She opened her locker, Alicia following close behind. Jake froze behind Lilly. He forgot she was in his class. Alicia waved. "This is Alicia. Her teacher's not here so she's just with me."

"Hi," Alicia said. "Call me Cia."

Lilly exclaimed, "Love your hair, Cia."

She blushed, "Thank you."

"Who's behind you?" Trixie asked, changing.

Jake resumed, pulling up his shorts quickly. Everything was slightly baggy on him but there wasn't much he could do about that.

"A new girl. She's scared to change so I'm covering."

"I'm good now," Jake said.

Lilly moved aside. Trixie gasped, covering herself. "Jake- Jackie?"

"Ohh, you two know each other?" Lilly asked.

Trixie kept her mouth shut. She didn't want to give away it was Jake but at the same time she wanted yell at him in anger and embarrassment. Alicia could tell what energy her friend was giving off so she filled in, "Yeah, she's our friend."

"Sorry, Trix," Jake mouthed, covering his eyes.

Lilly looked at Jake and laughed, "You're so shy. It's not like she has nothing you have."

"I saw nothing!" Jake yelled a little too loudly. He slowly walked away, eyes still covered.

Lilly looked confused. Alicia covered, "She, uh, likes girls. Yeah. She didn't want to be disrespectful."

"Aw, tell her I don't mind," Lilly said.

Jake opened his eyes and ran down the hall, bumping into Spud. "I almost didn't recognize you," Spud said. "I was looking for you in the locker room."

"I can't go in there," Jake said.

"Why? You got banned?"

He facepalmed. "No, I'm a girl, remember?"

"Ohh, right. That's why it's called girls' room, duh. Then where'd you change?" Jake didn't answer. Spud's eyes widened as he realized. "You went in the girls' room?"

He moved his short hair behind his ears. "Maybe."

"Whoa, phenomenal." He elbowed him.

"No, I didn't do it to be gross."

"Sure, Jake," Spud agreed sarcastically.

"I have to apologize to Trix."

"You saw her? Like, saw her?"

"Yeah. I feel bad. I covered my eyes but not in time."

"As long as you didn't see Alicia. Good thing she's not in our class." Jake looked away. He's such a bad liar, even his actions gave him away. Spud raised an eyebrow. "She's not in our class, right?"

"No, but . . ."

"Jake?"

He sighed. "She was here with Trix because her teacher's not here." Spud scowled. "But I left before she changed!"

"Why does Spud look like he's gonna kill you?" Trixie asked, her and Alicia walking to them.

Spud ran up to Alicia. "Are you okay? What did he do to you?"

"Um, who?"

"Jake! Did he make you uncomfortable?"

"You should ask me that," Trixie said, walking to the gym, eyeing Jake.

"I changed after he left," Alicia stated.

"See? Told you." Jake followed Trixie to the gym. "Trix, I didn't see anything."

"You're a shitty liar," she said.

"Okay, I did see something. Barely, though. I didn't mean it, really."

She stopped walking and exhaled. She could hear the honesty back in his voice. "I know you didn't. Still . . ." Trixie fiddled her thumbs. Jake barely saw her embarrassed.

"I'm really sorry, Trix."

She finally looked at him and smiled. "Thanks."

"Thanks?"

"For apologizing."

"Of course. You're one of my best friends."

"Hm. I'm not sure about that."

"Huh?"

She started to walk to the gym again. "Last time I checked, Jake is my best friend, not Jackie."

"Ugh!" he groaned, remembering he's a girl now. "I'm not Jackie, it's-" A group of boys from the locker room walked by, looking at him strangely. "I mean, I'm Jackie. Totally Jackie. A girl, not a guy."

Jake and his friends made it home exhausted. Jake's dad, Jonathan was glad to see him, but disappointed that he was still his "daughter".

"She didn't change you back."

Alicia shook her head. "Sorry my mom turned your son into a girl. It'll wear off in a few more hours."

"Then where were you?" Susan asked.

"School," Trixie said.

"No one noticed?" Jonathan asked, surprised.

"He went as Jackie," Spud explained.

"You pretended to be someone you're not?" his mom asked.

"It was okay, Mom. At least the day's almost done." He plopped on the couch.

"Yeah, everyone loved him," Spud said. "Privileges of being the hot new girl."

Jake turned on the tv. "Spud, you gotta stop calling me hot."

Writing these reminds me of making a script or a storyboard for a real episode. It would be cool if there was a reboot. I hate reboots usually, but if done right it could be a cool teen/young adult reboot for fans since we grew up from the early 2000s. Jeff Goode, the creator, does want a reboot. Things on Disney Plus seem to get a reboot if the original show gets enough views. We'll see. Just thought I'd share my research to you all since you like the show!
