Graduation Day ( part 1 )
The city of Los Angeles, it's the city I was born in. It's the city I grew up in. And as of the last several months it's the city that's become my personal playground. By day I'm just like everyone else, just your run of the mill citizen enjoying his day by walking around, seeing the sights or enjoying a hotdog from one of the street vendors that you find around almost every corner. At night though it's another matter.
Under the darkness of the shadows is when I emerge as someone else entirely. Every night I come out here on a mission to take down the monsters that prey on the innocent people of this city. I do my best to remain unseen as I make it my priority to take down the criminal scum I come across, all while leaving behind the mark of the spider. Tonight was no exception, as usual I was perched on one of the tallest buildings in downtown as the sounds of the traffic below me seemed to blend together. I was in a makeshift spider suit with my mask in hand as I gathered my thoughts before I went back out to my patrol.
My suit consisted of all black clothing: boots, jeans, denim jacket, fingerless gloves, a t-shirt with the symbiote spider symbol on the front and a replica mask from Spider-Man 3. I know I looked slightly ridiculous but it was the best I could come up with so I wouldn't draw too much attention to myself.
Carlos: ( exhale ) Now I understand why Peter loved doing this, nothing beats the view of an entire city while looking down at it from the tallest skyscraper you can find.
Jonathan: Technically you're not on a skyscraper since those are still taller than the building you're on right now.
I hate it when he gets technical, but he was my guy in the chair so I had no choice but to put up with his remarks unless I wanted to miss any important info while I'm out patrolling the city.
Carlos: You just love to mess with me don't you?
Jonathan: It's one of my guilty pleasures I'll admit, but I'm just being realistic.
Ignoring that I decided to look back at the city, I never thought that I would have the opportunity to use my powers back home, I still had to pinch myself from time to time just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I had to admit, the view was incredible. The wind blowing past me at this height combined with the lights and sounds of the city below was amazing. I know I had similar experiences back in Vale but something about seeing my home like this was another kind of experience all together.
Carlos: I still find it hard to believe that it's been almost a whole year since we took down Salem and saved Remnant with everyone else.
Jonathan: I know what you mean, the brothers of light and darkness even managed to bring us back home when the Maidens told us it was a one way trip.
Carlos: I guess, but they told us we would only have one year before we would have to choose to go back or stay. Not to mention tomorrow's our graduation as well as the deadline for our decision.
That was the deal, when we were told we could go back home we were excited to see our mom as well as our friends again ( or to be more exact Jonathan would get to see his friends since any that I made already graduated and are in college right now or are busy with jobs they got after high school ), but we could only stay for a year and after that we had to choose. If we decided to stay our powers we're going to be taken away and we could continue to live a normal life on Earth. If we choose to go back to Remnant then what the Maidens first told us would happen would hold true, everyone who knew us would forget all about us and they would continue their lives as if we never existed.
Jonathan: So what are we going to do? We have around 24 hours or so left to make up our minds.
Carlos: Honestly I don't know, if we could have it our way I would want us to have both.
Jonathan: I know, but we have to choose.
Just as I was about to respond I heard the sounds of sirens blaring below me. I looked over to see several police cars in pursuit of what looked like a beat up sports car going way over the speed limit.
Carlos: Looks like it's time to get to work, ready to be my guy in the chair again?
Jonathan: Of course I am, got my monitor set up and my snacks within reach.
After readjusting my earpiece I put on my mask and took a deep breath as I got up and jumped off the building, as I dove down in a free fall it wasn't long until I shot my webbing at the side of the building as I swung out of sight of the cars while speeding after them.
Carlos: I've said this before and I'll say it again, I am so glad people rarely look up.
Despite the heavy traffic there weren't too many people walking around tonight, even then I would usually stick to swinging as high as I could and use the rooftops to keep myself out of sight.
Jonathan: Just got through patching in to the police network, looks like a classic jewelry store robbery.
Carlos: Wow that's new, not everyday you see someone doing a classic. These days it's all digital, like scamming people with e-mail or fake phone calls promising you'll make lots of money from going to an expensive seminar.
Jonathan: Either way they made off with half the stores inventory before the cops arrived. I think these guys were on the news since I heard about two other robberies in different parts of the city with the same M.O.
Carlos: What about the car, have the police been able to identify it?
Jonathan: They haven't, these guys use a different getaway car every time but it's usually something beat up. At least they're not complete idiots.
Carlos: Okay then. Let's see if I can stop their little late night shopping spree before they reach the checkout counter.
As I continued to follow them the cops gave the robbers plenty of warnings to pull over which they retaliated by shooting at them. The cop cars began to swerve to avoid getting hit while returning fire, a few bullets hit the cars but thankfully it seemed like no one was in too much danger.
Just as it looked like the crooks were about to get caught they made a sudden u-turn and sped up as they made it on to the highway, the cops weren't able to follow them in time as the criminals began getting further away. Luckily for them I was able to land on top of a passing delivery truck as I rode it all while keeping my sights on the getaway car.
Carlos: That was close, a split second later and I might've lost them.
Jonathan: I hate to say it but it looks like it's all up to you now. The police got into a slight accident during that last maneuver. No one's hurt but they won't be able go any further from here.
Carlos: Fine by me, at least it gives us a bit more freedom to do this our way.
The car with the robbers began to slow down slightly after a while, I guess after losing the police they felt confident enough to relax a bit since they thought they made what seemed like a successful escape. As the truck closed in on them I shot a makeshift spider tracer on the roof of the car in case I lost them.
Jonathan: I got a clear signal from your spider tracer, looks like the upgrades I made are working.
Good thing my brother is an absolute genius when it came to tech, when we came back to Earth we didn't have access to a lot of our gear that we left back on Remnant like my weapons or his nanotechnology so we had to improvise with whatever we could get our hands on. The spider tracer I built wasn't exactly what I had in mind since it was kind of bigger than what I would've liked but it gets the job done.
Jonathan: Okay they're about to head for the off ramp, according to the maps there isn't much out here. Mostly just hills and flat land from what I can see.
Carlos: Guess being so far away from the city is as good a hiding place as any.
I waited until the car was out of sight before following them, from here on out I had no choice but to follow them on foot. Thanks to my enhanced physical abilities I was able to run all the way to where the signal was coming from while only getting slightly tired, I found the car parked in front of what looked like an abandoned car factory. There were broken windows, the front door was missing and some of the walls had old graffiti tagged all over it.
Carlos: Hey bro are you seeing this?
Jonathan: Yeah, the video feed from your mask is coming in perfectly. Didn't think they would hide out in a place like this.
Carlos: I'm going in.
After taking my tracer back I went inside as I crawled along the ceiling to avoid getting spotted. The electricity wasn't working in this part of the building so the only sources of light came from the moonlight that shined through the broken windows and holes in the roof.
Carlos: Man, if the department of worker's safety got a good look at this place it's no wonder it was shut down. Good thing I don't work here.
Jonathan: Did you find the jewelry thieves yet?
Carlos: No, my night vision isn't helping either. I think these guys must've hidden the loot and left.
Jonathan: Maybe. Still it might be a good idea to check the area just in case.
I did as he instructed and decided to take a good long look. I spent about 45 minutes with nothing to show for it until I stepped on a loose tile. When I examined it a bit closer I saw what looked like a handle underneath it and I felt a small breeze coming from below.
Carlos: Hey Jonathan are you seeing what I'm seeing?
Jonathan: That depends. Hidden door?
Carlos: Only one way to find out.
I pulled and as we suspected a large part of the floor revealed a hastily made hidden door with a staircase that led further below the building.
Carlos: Where do you think this leads?
Jonathan: If I had to guess it might take you to an underground assembly line. Right now you were just in part of the building that had all their offices so I guess the factory as a whole is still much bigger.
As I ventured down the stairs I caught glimpses of light from further in. The tunnel lead me to a large room where cars were put together with lots of abandoned car parts as well as machinery strewn across the room. I also heard the sound of people arguing and the faint smell of cigarettes and alcohol permeated the air.
Carlos: ( whispering ) Ugh nasty. Better get to higher ground.
I jumped back up to the ceiling as I silently crawled over to the noise to see 10 guys in one of the empty corners of the room. It looked like 6 of them were playing poker while the other four were either minding their own business or keeping watch for intruders.
Jonathan: Hey check out the other side of the room, I think you just hit the jackpot.
I looked over and saw piles of stolen jewelry just tossed over to the far side of the room completely unguarded.
Carlos: ( Woah, there's probably hundreds of thousands of dollars of stolen goods. Looks like we found the guys responsible for the recent robberies. )
The good news is we found the perps and their hideout. The bad news is what should I do next?
Carlos: ( Okay Spidey think, step one should be getting these guys contained so when the cops show up they can take them in. Step two should be contacting the police so they get here ASAP. Or should that be the other way around? )
Jonathan was already getting to work on contacting the authorities, he would be sending an anonymous tip letting them know to come over to the factory, that just left me with getting these guys wrapped up for when they get here.
Carlos: ( Alright let's get to work. )
Before anything else I had to do something about the lights in here. There was barely any place for me to use stealth to my advantage other than the ceiling so I needed to change the playing field, thankfully I was able to find a fuse box on the far side of the room. I carefully crawled my way over to it and once I was in range I shot a single web line and yanked it from the wall. As the fuse box crashed onto the ground the whole room suddenly became dark. The sound of metal hitting the ground as well as the immediate darkness that followed quickly put the criminals on high alert as they prepared to fend off any unwanted company.
Criminal 1: What the heck happened to the lights?!
Criminal 2: Somebody check the fuse box! The rest of you make sure the loot is secured, this is the biggest score of our lives and we ain't losing it, got it!
While they scrambled to find a flashlight or two I was safely clinging to a corner of the ceiling just enjoying the show.
Carlos: ( Thank goodness for night vision, I love being a Faunus. )
From within the darkness a few sources of light suddenly appeared, guess these guys were smart enough to bring some flashlights with them after all. I took another look at them and saw that each of them had a handgun with them as they spread out looking for the cause of the sudden blackout.
Criminal 3: If any cops are here let me give ya a warning! You try anything funny and it's curtains for ya! I ain't joking!
He walked over to a car that was about halfway through assembly, he looked inside the passenger seat to see if anyone was hiding only to see no one inside. As he stood there I shot some webbing to the wall over to his right to distract him. He slowly walked over to investigate all while I slowly crawled over to him. Before he could call for help I yanked him to the ceiling with my webs and for good measure I webbed his mouth shut so he wouldn't alert the others.
Carlos: ( whispering ) Shh. You're gonna give me away so just hang out here for a bit.
After that I crawled over to another guy who was shaking like a leaf, the look on his face showed he was very nervous as he moved his flashlight around so much that he almost hit one of his buddies in the face.
Criminal 4: Hey watch where you're pointing that thing!
Criminal 5: Sorry, but what if we get caught!
Criminal 4: Don't be stupid! No way are we gettin' caught. You'd have to be a bigger idiot than Mack to come down here.
Criminal 6: Hey I heard that you big buffoon!
Criminal 4: I know that, I said it loud didn't I!
As they argued the first guy walked over to where the fuse box laid on the ground away from the other two. As he bent down to touch it he was suddenly shot in the face with webbing before being pulled into the rafters as he was tied in a cocoon away from prying eyes.
Carlos: ( whispering ) Don't let the bed bugs bite.
As the other two finished their arguing I shot a web line to each of their shoulders and pulled which caused them to crash into each other and knock one another out. As the next few minutes passed I was able to knock out the remaining guys until only one was left, at this point he figured that whoever was down here with him knew what he was doing since he was the last guy standing.
Criminal: I'm warning you, you better stay back or else I'll blow your brains out!
His threats didn't really bother me, I continued to crawl on the ceiling as the sounds of an approaching helicopter began to grow louder and closer. Lights had begun to shine through the opening from the tunnel as the sounds of several footsteps began to echo out throughout the room.
Cop: This is the LAPD! We have you surrounded, come out with your hands up!
Rather than giving up the criminal decided to cut his losses and grabbed the closest bag and ran for the nearest exit that was behind some old equipment.
Carlos: ( Can't believe I missed that! I better catch him or I'll never live this down! )
I followed after him through the dimly lit tunnel, he thought I was a cop as he began shooting at me hoping he could get away from me. Luckily my semblance kicked in as I started dodging his bullets as I bounced along the walls.
Carlos: ( Gotta love spider sense, best semblance ever! )
He had just made it to the doors and proceeded to get inside another beat up car as he floored it and sped down the street, but not before I managed to to attach a web line to the back and I launched myself to the roof of the car. As he continued to drive away from the crime scene one of the police helicopters began to follow us as well as a few police cars, their sirens began to blare as a high speed chase ensued.
Jonathan: So how's it going Spidey, did you catch the jewel thieves or are you in the middle of another high speed chase?
Carlos: Can't talk! Kind of busy at the moment!
Jonathan: So high speed chase, got it. Anyway I just wanted to tell you that I'm heading off to bed so good luck.
Carlos: What?!
He then hung up on me.
Carlos: ( groan ) Ugh! This is just like that time I had to sneak my way into Amity Arena just so I could watch Team RWBY during the tournament. I am so going to smack him over the head for this. Again!
The guy driving had made it to the freeway as he did everything he could to avoid getting on the late night news. All the other drivers did their best to stay out of the way to avoid getting into an accident as the thief and the police cars drove past them in mere seconds. The helicopters spotlight almost had us in its sights as officers who were down on the ground gave their intel on the situation.
Cop: Sir you're not going to believe this but there seems to be another individual hanging to the roof of the getaway vehicle.
Cop 2: Can you identify them?
Cop: Negative, they seem to be wearing a mask and all black clothing.
Cop 2: Keep an eye on them, we don't know what their intention is so be ready for anything.
Cop: Understood.
As the chase continued the thief did his best to cause several accidents in the hopes of getting the police off his back. He slammed into other vehicles hoping they would crash into each other but so far all he did was manage to annoy them. Thankfully no one was injured since he was more focused on getting away and he didn't want to make himself crash as well.
Carlos: ( This is not how I was expecting to spend my Thursday night! Now how am I gonna stop this maniac without seriously hurting civilians or him in the process? )
We continued to speed down as the search light finally landed on us, no doubt we were live on t.v. right now for the whole city to see. I looked up to see that a news copter had reached us as well as a police copter just a few feet ahead of them.
Carlos: I am so not ready for my close up.
Reporter: We are coming to you live, reports have come in about a high speed chase. As you can see the LAPD has been in pursuit of the vehicle for the last several minutes. Reports have also come in about a mysterious individual seen on the roof of the car below us. It's unclear whether or not he is in league with the members of the recent robberies but the police won't be taking any chances. We will continue to monitor this story as it progresses.
The guy driving was not happy to see that he was close to getting caught, as he drove he looked outside his window as the light from above cast a shadow of us on the road. He could easily see that he wasn't alone as someone was on the roof of his car. He tried shaking me off by swerving violently in the hopes of me letting go but my wall crawling powers and talons made that impossible, next he grabbed his gun and pointed it at the roof as he started to shoot in another attempt to get rid of me. As I dodged his bullets I had no choice but to jump onto a passing delivery truck to avoid getting shot at, once he was rid of me he sped up even more as the police did the same so they wouldn't lose him.
Carlos: Okay I didn't plan on that happening, better catch up as soon as possible.
I began jumping across several cars as I did my best to get back into the action, I even had to jump over a bridge that almost hit me in the face because I was so focused on not losing the getaway car. Once I made it to the nearest police car I saw that the thief had finally had enough as he violently slammed into the police cars that were beside him. He was able to get away from them as they swerved before hitting each other and spun out of control. One of the cars hit the side of the freeway as the airbags deployed while the other hit a lamppost, it was about to fall on top of them so I jumped in and caught it before it could cause any more harm.
Carlos: Talk about a close call. You officers okay?
I then put it down after the officers safety exited their car. Just as I was about to continue chasing the getaway car my spider sense warned me of danger as the officers had their guns focused on me.
Cop: Freeze! Put your hands up and get down on the ground now!
I knew arguing about this would be a bad idea so I did as they said, I slowly put up my hands as I got on my knees. I was able to look over to the other car that crashed to see those officers had safely made it out of that accident with minor injuries at most.
Carlos: ( Glad to see those officers aren't badly injured. Now how am I getting out of this one? )
Thankfully a passing fire truck sped on by as I shot a web line on its side as it yanked me away.
Carlos: Sorry officers but I got a job to do! Adios!
I knew they wouldn't be happy about me resisting arrest but getting the crook arrested was a much bigger priority at the moment. After pulling myself to the top I began jumping across cars again as the police copter kept their sights on him which made my job easier. Meanwhile the news copter kept their sights on me which meant that the police now had two things to worry about.
Reporter: As you can see the chase is still going on. Police reports have now identified the mysterious individual as a young man dressed in black wearing what appears to be a mask of Spider-Man. Why they are trying to imitate the comic book hero is still unknown but there is a possibility that he might be trying to help. We have just received word about the anonymous call that lead officers to an abandoned car factory where the other thieves were found and they were discovered to be captured in strands of what has been identified as webbing. Are we witnessing the arrival of an actual Spider-Man or is this an elaborate ruse to cover up what could be a bigger heist in the making? Stay tuned for more as the story develops.
No doubt they were probably making me out to be another crook, regardless I needed to end this chase once and for all. I had finally caught up to the others as I landed on one of the police cars, ignoring the protests of the officers inside I steadied myself before leaping to the speeding car and landing on the hood as I punched the windshield causing the glass to crack. The driver began to lose control as we began to swerve so I punched again to make a hole big enough for me to reach the steering wheel hoping I could get us out of the freeway and away from civilians.
Carlos: Okay let's see, I'm facing backwards so if I turn left then- Woah!
The car ended up swerving to the right as we drove off the freeway and plummeted to the street below us. Before we hit the ground my accelerated vision kicked in as I took in my surroundings. As we were flipping through the air I quickly fashioned a large web by attaching several web lines to nearby lampposts and buildings and we safely stopped a few inches above ground. The driver got out of his car as he hit the pavement with the bag of stolen goods and ran into a nearby construction site as I silently followed him into the building.
He climbed up all the way to the 13th floor as I crawled along the outside while avoiding the searchlights from above.
Carlos: ( So let's recap for a moment: I have made it throughout an entire year without getting caught on t.v. and now everyone is aware of a real life Spider-Man in Los Angeles while trying to apprehend a not so common jewel thief. Hopefully I don't accidentally reveal my secret identity while I'm at it. )
To be fair I hardly used my webs and mostly focused on knocking out criminals as I left them where they were for the police to find so I could avoid making it obvious that there was an actual Spider-Man taking down crooks. If I did have to use my webbing I always had some of my web dissolvent with me to get rid of it so no one would notice. Guess my luck had to run out at some point.
I found the guy fidgeting in the building with his gun jumping at every little noise while the helicopters above us kept their lights focused on the building. As he looked behind him to make sure he was by himself I landed on the edge of the room as the light passed me, during that one second when he saw my shadow he turned around and shot three bullets that hit the billboard across the street. When the lights passed again I wasn't in the same spot as before as I was now on the partially completed floor above him.
Criminal: Show yourself! I know you're out there!
He then ran into the next room as he did his best to find an escape route. On the streets below the remaining police officers had finally arrived and had the whole block surrounded with more cars as well as officers on several buildings to keep an eye on us. One of the cops pulled out a megaphone hoping to convince the criminal to finally give up.
Cop: This is your last warning, come out with your hands up and the stolen property or we will use lethal force! You are completely surrounded and with no choice but to comply!
I was running out of time so I figured it was now or never, I had to ditch the stealth approach and go for a more direct method to end this night. I followed the guy to the roof of the building as I showed up just a few seconds later. He was definitely surprised to see me crouching on top of the doorway and he had no idea what to do. There weren't any lights up here since we were pretty high up and the searchlights were still scanning the lower parts of the building in case he tried to make a break for it so we were both in the dark at the moment with the only light coming from the moon that was partly hidden by the clouds.
Carlos: Okay buddy that's far enough! The police have the whole block surrounded, so just turn yourself in and we can get you into a nice cozy cell by morning.
Criminal: What are you, some kind of cop?!
Carlos: Really? You seriously think I'm a cop. A cop wearing black jeans and a denim jacket and a mask. Sorry buddy but I think you got the wrong guy.
I rushed him and in retaliation he started shooting at me. The sounds of bullets firing alerted the police into making their way into the building thinking that the situation had escalated. As for me I was able to dodge his shots as I yanked his gun away with my webs before he pulled out a knife and tried stabbing and slashing me with it.
Criminal: I am not going back behind bars! No way am I going to rot there for the rest of my life!
Carlos: Well you should've thought of that before you and your little gang decided to steal things that didn't belong to you!
As I ducked from his tenth swipe at me I did a sweeping kick at his legs which made him lose his balance and his grip on the knife as it skidded away from his reach. He got back up and tried using the bag as a weapon only for me to grab him by the arm and kick him in the stomach making him drop the bag as he stumbled backwards.
Carlos: Sorry but I'm through playing nice! Time to end this!
He tried rushing at me with several punches only for me dodge them all as I finished him off with my favorite finishing move, I moved around him and punched him twice in the head before I delivered a kick to the face as he fell over. He then tried to run away as I webbed his legs together, as he fell I walked over him and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt as I brought his face closer to mine.
Criminal: Who are you!?
Carlos: Haven't you figured it out yet?
The search light shined over us as he got a good look at me for the first time tonight. I could easily see how afraid he was as he finally realized his time was up.
Carlos: I'm Spider-Man!
One punch was all it took to knock him out. Looks like I can finally call it a night and go home.
Carlos: ( sigh ) It's finally over.
Cop: Freeze! Put your hands up! Now!
On second thought, maybe not. Soon I was surrounded by a small group of police officers all with their guns aimed at me.
Carlos: Hey the boys and girls in blue are finally here! Don't worry he won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Cop: You in the mask, hands up!
Carlos: ( hands up ) Seriously?
Cop: Who are you?
Carlos: ( hands down ) Does no one grasp the concept of the mask anymore?
Since I wasn't doing as they said one of them fired some warning shots at me as I nimbly dodged them before I jumped over them while taking the gun away.
Carlos: Ya know normally I would make joke about doing 80% of your job for you, but it's been a long night for everyone soooo... see ya!
I dropped the gun as I jumped off the building and began swinging away. I had several cars chase after me so I ended up having to take the long way home, I ended up taking over an hour and a half before I finally lost them and started swinging back home which took another hour and 50 minutes because I had to be extra careful in avoiding any police from spotting me. Once I finally made it I snuck in through my open window and looked at the alarm clock on my nightstand to see it was 3 in the morning which meant I had about 4 hours of sleep left before I needed to get ready. I turned to my door to see my graduation cap and gown hanging on it ready for me to wear later today. I quickly changed into my sweatpants and t-shirt and hid my mask as I went to bed with the last thing on my mind being what I would choose to do, although deep down I knew what I was going to pick and it broke my heart knowing who I would have to say goodbye to.
Meanwhile... on Remnant.
( Blake's pov )
I was in the middle of class with the rest of my team, as usual we were going over our lessons like every day during the last several months. Even now I still couldn't believe how things have been over the last six months, trust between the kingdoms has grown stronger, the treatment of Faunus has been slowly improving, and the world is finally at peace. The Grimm still roam the land without Salem to command them, they have existed for so long that they have become a part of our worlds nature. The only difference being that they haven't been causing as many problems as of late, however it's still our job as Huntsman to keep people safe from them when necessary. As our class ended we got up and left for our dorm and began settling in to relax for the rest of the day.
Ruby: ( groan ) I thought that class would never end.
Yang: I know what you mean, it felt like time was going slower the closer we were to the end.
Weiss: At least tomorrow is the weekend so we can take time to unwind before the next week of school starts.
Ruby: ( groan ) Don't remind me!
As they began to settle down to relax I took a moment to look over in the corner of our room where two swords were placed against the wall. The swords that mine and Yang's boyfriend left for us to take care of until we saw him again, I remembered how the brothers of light and darkness gave them a choice to either return or to stay after they got to return home to Earth. They would spend one year which to us would be about six months before making a choice. A part of me was hoping they would come back but at the same time I didn't want them to feel guilty about leaving their home and family behind.
I then felt a hand on my shoulder as I turned to see Yang facing me with a small smile.
Yang: You're thinking about him too aren't you?
Blake: Is it that obvious?
Yang: Kind of, I miss him too. Really hope he decides to come back, it doesn't feel the same without him.
The two of us have been having this conversation for a while and we both really wanted for Carlos and Jonathan to return, however we weren't the only one who missed them. We then hear a knock on our door and I went to open it to see Penny and Neo standing outside.
Penny: Hello everyone, may we come in?
Blake: Of course.
As we let her in we weren't aware of the surprise that we were about to receive or the journey we were going to take.
Ruby: Penny is everything alright?
Penny: Of course, it's just that Neo and I have something we wanted to discuss with Blake and Yang.
Yang: What did you need to talk to us about?
Penny: Well the two of us were wondering if the two of you have been experiencing any peculiar dreams lately.
Blake: What do mean by peculiar?
Penny: Well you see for the last month or so both Neo and myself have been having these dreams about Jonathan back on his home on Earth. We were wondering if you two have had any about Carlos as well.
I was caught off guard when she mentioned that, like her for the last month I have been experiencing dreams of Carlos back on his world. The dreams were glimpses of how he was doing such as his life in school as well as him using his powers to help people by being a secret superhero. At first I thought it was just a result of me missing him but now that I heard that I wasn't the only one experiencing this perhaps there was more to it.
Blake: Actually I've been experiencing the same thing. I've even written them down in this notebook.
I went to my backpack and grabbed the notebook as I handed it to Neo, the others looked at it to see what I wrote down and Yang confirmed that she saw a lot of the same things as I did.
Yang: This recent entry you wrote down, I remember dreaming about that last night. I thought it was just my imagination but I guess the two of us were seeing what he's been up to.
Penny: If what you've written here is true it would seem that they've been rather busy the last few months they've been away.
Weiss: Blake why didn't you say anything about this before?
Blake: Honestly I thought I just really missed him and that these dreams were just something I made up. I started writing them down because it was a way for me to avoid forgetting them since these dreams were the only way I've been able to see and hear him again in the last 6 months.
Ruby: I get it. From your notes it definitely looks like he's been using his spider powers to good use.
As we continued to discuss the situation we then started to feel sleepy, one by one we each fell asleep on the floor of our dorm. When we opened our eyes we found ourselves in a white void with a familiar golden figure waiting for us.
Brother of Light: It's been some time young Huntresses, I have a gift I wish to bestow you.
