Hello, to everyone reading this! I'm currently rewatching the whole saga and during the scene when Darth Vader kills the emperor, I'm always asking myself, what are his thoughts?
Yeah, so I tried to write a one-shot about that scene, I hope you like it!
Ps: Please be gracious with me about the grammar, English isn't my native language. Anyways, I'll stop talking now.
Darth Vader stood there and watched the emperor killing Luke Skywalker. But he didn't care, or at least he was trying not to. I don't know that boy. He wants to kill me, he deserves it. Somewhere in his head, quiet and normally not really hearable but in this moment, he actually heard it, and, more importantly, listened to it.
That is your son. You need to save him. Padmé would have wanted it, do it for her.
Darth Vader heard his son's pleading and desperate scream: "Father! Please! Ahhhhhh!"
"Now, young Skywalker… You will die.", the emperor continued sending lightings to Luke, who began to shout again.
Darth Vader finger were balled to a fist. He looked to Luke, the boy, his son, was shaking and the light blue lightnings were flashing through him.
Behind his mask closed Darth Vader his eyes in pain. He wanted to help him. He really did. But then he looked the emperor, he was the only one who had been with him back then, the only one who had understood him. A memory popped up in mind.
Anakin was walking through the jedi temple, looking for chancellor Palpatine when he heard fighting noises from one of the rooms. He began to run, he had to save Palpatine, he needed him. Without him, Padmé was as good as dead and with her probably his child. With this thought in his mind, he stormed into the room and saw Palpatine, lying on the floor, his hands raised and pointed to…
Mace Windu? What was he doing here? And why was he standing above the chancellor, with a lightsaber in his hands? Then, suddenly it all made sense, Windu was going to kill him. Without any hesitation, he started to shout.
Darth Vader tried to shake off the memories but as soon as one was gone, another appeared. Somewhen, it were only separate sentences but they hit him.
"You turned her against me!" "You've done that yourself"
"You have allowed this dark lord to twist your mind, until now... until now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy."
"Will I ever see you again?" "What does your heart tell you?" "I hope so. Yes... I guess."
"I HATE YOU" "You were my brother Anakin, I loved you"
"It seems like in your anger, you must have killed her"
"You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them, bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness."
"Master Skywalker, there're too many of them, what are we going to do?"
"You're going down a path I can't follow!"
"If you're not with me...then you're my enemy!" "Only a Sith deals with an absolute"
"I have failed you Anakin. I have failed you."
"It's over Anakin, I have the high ground!" "You underestimate my power!"
In this moment Anakin realized that Obi-Wan had been right, it had been over for him and sure as hell, he didn't underestimate his power. He had been wrong. He still was. And many people, too many had to die. Padmé, Obi-Wan, Master Windu, all the Jedi, that died during order 66.
He couldn't save them, some of them he even killed himself, but he could save his son. Again, Luke screamed out of pain. He needed to choose. Fast. Otherwise, his son would die. Another scream of Luke rang in his ears, somehow, this scream made him decide.
"No…", he said quietly. "No!", Now it wasn't quiet at all, he grabbed the emperor, lifted him up and threw him into the abyss. While he was doing that, a few of the emperor's blue lightings struck him. These were disturbing the life systems of his suit, Anakin knew he didn't have much longer to live.
But somehow, he didn't care, he saved his sons life. He did something good for the first time in years.
His son lived and that was all that counted.
You liked it? Fantastic! Would you like to leave a comment? Brilliant! If not, okay too, I'll just be glad you read till here. Bye! 3
