4x16 (part IV)

A/N: Thank you for your comments.. and your patience!

PS: I wrote this in a rush (trying to post it before Thursday), and my imagination is waaay better than my capacity to put it into words. So, fair warning; grammatically speaking, this might be a piece of garbage. ;P

PS': I'm sooo scared about season 5!! I think it's going to be chaos all over, no reconciliation, no baby (although I wouldn't mind that one, they can totally wait for the storm to blow over) and no Surrera!

I'm an optimist, as you can see.

Later that week, neither Maya or Ben had been able to contact Sullivan directly, but the recently demoted captain had reached a lieutenant who was working with him.

"Warren!" Bishop called, as she entered the locker room, where the former surgeon was getting ready for the shift. "Hey! Any news?"

"Yes! I got Lieutenant Davis' contact and he gave me Sullivan's address." Maya told him, almost whispering. "Really? Can he do that?" He wondered, confused. "Technically, no." She admitted. "But I may have flirted a little." Warren laughed at her confession and wouldn't stop, despite her pleading, until she got annoyed. "Stop it! I had to, she's pregnant!! And do not tell Carina about it or I'll kill you."

"Who's pregnant?!" Vic asked, astonished. Neither of them had heard Hughes come into the room, too distracted with the bickering. "Nobody." Ben tried.

"Oh no, no, no, no. I heard it loud and clear, and I want to know it all! And what can't you tell Carina?" Vic insisted, dying of curiosity and shooting her friends a death stare. "No one is telling you anything. You can't keep a secret!" Maya answered, nonchalantly. "Well, if you're not telling me, I'll- OH MY GOD! IS IT ANDY?"

"Shut up, Vic! Everyone's going to hear you." Ben shushed her, looking around to see if anyone else had heard them, but not bothering to deny it. "I mean, of course it's Andy!" Hughes reasoned, this time in a lower voice. "On top of all the Sullivan drama- OH MYY GOD!!" She couldn't avoid yelling again, but lowered her voice in time before asking the inevitable question. "Does he know?!"

"Vic, seriously, stop yelling!" Bishop begged. "Sorry! I'm in shock here." She apologized, dramatically.

"Yes, it's Andy. And no, Sullivan doesn't know yet." Ben surrendered, closing his locker, after getting his friend's well known demanding look. "But please, do not tell anyone."

"Ok, but what are you two planning?" She inquired, well aware that they were still holding some more information. Warren and Bishop exchanged looks and, after a silent conversation, decided to loop her in. "We've been trying to contact Sullivan, because Andy is devastated with the whole thing." Maya explained.

"And?"

"And Maya just got his address." Ben continued.

"Are you going there to tell him?" Hughes asked, bewildered. "No, we're telling Andy where he is, and if she wants to go, I'll go with her." Maya cleared. "Ok, I'm coming too." Vic stated, matter-of-factly.

In the meantime, Andy, who had been kept in the dark about the whole let's find Sullivan plan, was already writing her letter to inform the department about her pregnancy. However, she was finding it harder than she had expected because, apparently, she was backing up from her dream job just a few weeks after getting it, by telling a bunch of strangers she was having a baby from whom her husband knew nothing about. That wasn't how she had imagined her life as a captain would be. Scratch that, it wasn't at all how she had imagined her life as a wife would be...or even less, as a new mom. She was a nervous wreck, a ticking time-bomb of pent-up feelings. On one side, it was the fear of becoming a mom, and a potentially single one. On the other, the worry of how motherhood might affect her career. But the worst of all was to mess up her kid as much as she had messed up her marriage.

She was running out of time before she had to start her shift, without making significant progress in the letter, when Maya knocked on her office's door.

"Hey, come in." Andy greeted her, her eyes quickly going back to the screen. "How are you doing?" The lieutenant wondered. "Fine. Just trying to submit my letter to the department, you know…" She struggled, rubbing her eyes. "Don't do it yet." The blonde said, getting Andy's full attention.

"What? Why?"

"That's actually what I came here to tell you... We found Sullivan." Bishop blurted out.

"You what?"

"Well, I got his address. We found out where he's staying. I can go with you if you want me to. Also, Vic knows and she wants to come too." Maya continued, getting it all out of her chest, before her friend's changing facial expression made her back up.

"What?" Andy asked, out of words.

"Sorry, she overheard part of my conversation with Warren and...well, you know how she gets." Bishop explained and waited for her friend to say something, but she didn't, probably a little bit lost in her thoughts. "Andy?"

"Yeah?"

"Are we going on a road trip?" Maya tried to lighten the mood. "How many hours is that?" Herrera asked back, still digesting the news she'd just received.

Having discarded the road trip idea, the three friends catched a plane to Montana on their next two days off. To say Andy was nervous was the understatement of the year. What could she possibly say to make things right? She'd certainly said enough. So she closed her eyes, trying to figure it all out. Maya and Vic could see the wheels turning in her head, the internal battle she surely was having, and they felt for her. When she noticed their hands on hers, Herrera opened her eyes. "Seriously guys, thank you. You didn't need to do this for me."

"We know, but we wanted to…especially Vic." Bishop joked, in an attempt to momentarily forget about the seriousness of the mission ahead of them. They all laughed, and started an easy talk that kept Andy distracted the whole flight. A surprisingly fast couple of hours later, they were outside Robert's house. When she saw her husband through the window, still at a prudential distance, the captain started to panic the same way she had when she first saw her mom after 20 years.

"Andy, it's ok. You can do this." Maya reassured her. "Calm down, take a deep breath and all the time you need. We're not going anywhere."

"Ok" She simply answered, regulating her breath, as Bishop was showing her. "On the bright side, that's good practice." Vic teased, and they laughed once again. At that moment, with both her friends trying to make her feel better, each one in their own particular way, Andy knew she would never be alone, no matter what. It took her a couple of minutes to regain her composure, though, but when she did, she asked her friends for some space, walked to the door and knocked.

"Andy?"

I'm a bad person. ;P
