Chapter 5

"What? No one is here." Micaiah let out in shock, as hse looked aorund at the empty ruins that she and the others had come to a stop at just a few moments ago.

"Yes, it would appear so. But there was clearly some sort of battle that happened here since the scent of blood lingers in the air around this area." Naliah pointed out, as she took a look around.

"Great, so if a battle did happen here then that obviously means that the Daein Army must of fled from here. Either by fear of being discovered by the Begnion Army. Or they were found out and had no choice but to fall back." Sothe pondered out loud, as he too looked around the area for any sort of clues that might be able to help them.

But while the group looked around for any clues as to what had happened to the Daein Army Micaiah looked over at Shino and saw the anthro canine swordsman was staring off into the distance. And so she decided to approach him while she asked, "Shino? What are you staring at? Is everything alright?"

And once she was stnaidng next to him the young woman saw the beastman look at her from the corner of his eyes when he replied, "I'm not sure. I can the smell of smoke off in the distance. I think a battle may be going on north of our current location."

"Well it seems we have osmething in commen sowrdsman since Volug and I could smell the smoke from here as well." The Queen of the wolf laguz commented, while taking a few steps forward.

"Then we'd best hurry and help them before it's too late! The sliver haired young woman exclaimed, to which everyone nodded in agreement.

The group then ran off towards the direction of the smoke hoping that they would be in time to save whoever was still alive and fighting to keep this possible Prince of Daein safe.

Shino put his sword away once the last solder of Daien had been dealt with and after making sure no other solders were on their way to try to help the ones who had fallen before them. The anthro canine then made his way over Miaiciah and Sothe who were speaking to two men and a young woman. And so he slowly apporached the group as to not distrub their conversation.

However, one of his ears twitched when he heard the slivered hair woman let out a gasp followed by, "What? So the rumors of King Ashnard having a son is true?!"

"It would seem like it. Which only means that reclaiming Daein from Begion's senators can finally happen." The green haired young man agreed, along with giving a small nod.

"If this is true. then where pray tell is this heir to the throne? Shino questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"His right in this building behind us." the elderly armoed man pointed out, as he moved to the side to reveal the entrance to the small building.

And once the group had entered the building the group saw two men and one woman standing next to each other. And once the group was a few feet away from them the older looking man dressed in black robes stepped forward. He then cleared his throat and announced, "Allow me to introduce to you the one and only ture heir to the Daien throse, Prince Pelleas." This prompted the young man to step forward. A veil covered woman then did the same as the man added, "And this is the Queen of Daein, Queen Almedha." The elderly man then took a quick bow and ended with, And am his Highness advicor, Izuka. Now who are you? And for that matter why did you bring them into this building, General Tauroneo? For all we know these people could be assassins here to kill the prince."

Right after this was said though the heavily armored General protested with, "I can assure you, Izuka that the4se people are not assassins. In fact one of them even helped in the war three years ago."

"Exactly! So who's to say that they might not have some kind of scheme!" The advisor countered, while a very annoyed expression was on his face.

Thankfully however before things oculd get too heated Prince Pelleas walked past the elderly advisor and said, "Izuka, if the General trusts these poeple then we shouldn't doubt his word." To this the older man just scoffed away. And while he walked into antoher room the blue haired young man went on, "I apologize for my advisor. I can understand his concerns due to us not wanting to be found out by the Begnion Army that is stationed here in Daein before our army is fully prepared to retake the capital... Even so I feel that any help from the citizens of Daein is most welcomed. So have you come to help with our cause and join our amry to retake our homeland?

"Yes, I'll help fight to free Daein and it's people." Micaiah proclaimed.

However, at the same time Sothe replied, "No, thanks." And when he heard what the slivered haired young woman had said he looked over at her and added, "What? Micaiah, I've fought in a war before. And it's not something you want to get involved in." He then looked over at the beasman swordsman as he continued, "Shino, I'm sure you can agree with me on this matter, right?"

*Yes, I will agree with you that war is very dangerous and that it can lead to your death if you are not careful. However, if the maiden wishes to fight for her homeland then who am I to not side with her? Besides I am nothing but an outsider to this place after all." The brown and cream furred anthro pointed out with a serious expression on his face.

"Excellent since I'm certain having the Sliver Haired Maiden on our side will most liekly give the people of Daein hope that we will be able to free us from Begnion's grasp. But allow me to give you some time to inform anyone else who is with about your decision." Prince Pelleas told the three, before he walked out of the room they all had been in and into another room.

After he had left though Micaiah looked up at Sothe with an annoyed expression on her face as she said, "Sothe, why would you not want to help Daein free itself from Begnion? Do you not care about our country or our people? Though knowing you I'm sure it's because you don't want me to get hurt. Which I of course appreciate. But you really don't need to worry about me since I'll be careful when o nthe battlefield. Plus this is something I feel I need to do."

"Alright if you're sure about this, then I'll stand by your decision." Sothe responded back, before the three walked out of the building to inform everyone else of what was about to happen next.

A/N: Alright finally after all of this time I finally got this chapter done after months of it being on hold due to a very bad eye issue and having to recover after having an operation to take care of it. Though with that said I'm not sure if this story will be 30 chapters or more like the first two crossover stories I did with these two games. So just thought I'd give you guys a heads about that before I post the next chapter once I'm able to get it done one of these days. Just going to take my time and slowly get back into writing again after having to take a break that I didn't want to take last year.
