Chapter 78 Candy Land Gym Battle
Lillie manages to win against Strawberry in a full battle, and she is happy that she wins against her, which means both she and Ash manage to defeat all 7 of them.
Strawberry: You've defeated all of us! That means you get this!
They are given two passes, and Ash recognizes the pass in his hands.
Ash: Hey, I remember this. This is what you need to enter to the Battle Frontier! I had one when I was back in Kanto.
Strawberry: That's right. We have a Battle Frontier here as well, you can use it to enter our own Battle Frontier, but once the renovations are done, that is!
Delicia: :D
Strawberry: The Battle Frontier was closed a few months ago because we're trying something new! It used to be a place where trainers could gather and battle. But as Hoenn and Sinnoh's Battle Towers expanded into Frontiers, we have enough interest to do that too! We started with only two facilities: the Battle Factory and Battle Tower. But we've been recruiting Frontier Brains, and now we've expanded to five! I guess you could call us the Battle Frontier Mascots.
Lillie: I think we know about that.
Strawberry: If you've met Raina from Virima's Training Gym, it was her idea to have us give a Frontier Pass to any trainer who could defeat all of us! When it opens back up, Raina's going to be the Battle Factory's Frontier Brain! Her massive collection of Pokemon made her the perfect candidate! I'm very happy that someone like you two, who's been protecting Ceolis from Team Portal, gets to be the one to win our pass!
Ash and Lillie are worried as she says it out loud with two Team Portal members are present, but they don't seem to care as well.
Strawberry: Now that that's done, though, it's time to finish Crolea's Birthday Cake! I'll see all of you at the party! ^_^ (Leaves back into the kitchen)
Emily: So that was a promo for the Battle Frontier? That's pretty cool! Delicia, since you're friends with them, does that mean you're going to be a Frontier Brain, too?
Ash: (Sees Delicia shakes her head) I guess that's a no.
Felicia: Delicia's been friends with them for a while. She likes their fruit-themed costumes!
Gladion: I see, that makes sense.
As they continue the maze, with Emily, Gladion, Felicia, and Delicia wanting to watch Ash's Gym Battle, they walk past the field where Milcery and Alcremie are, and a pond where Azumarill and Marill are.
Emily: If you don't know, the six Fairy Type Pokemon that you noticed on the way here will be the six Pokemon Carol is going to use in the gym battle.
Ash: Really? I never knew that. But why?
Lillie: Maybe because she is not scared of others knowing her Pokemon.
They arrive at a place that looks like a small house, and Carol is waiting for them on the battlefield.
Carol: Hi again, soup or hero! Do you like my castle? Maybe we can have a tea party here sometime! But Crolea's birthday party comes first! Let's have a fun battle before the party!
Referee: The match between Gym Leader Carol and Challenger Ash is about to begin. Each Trainer will be using 6 Pokemon, and when one side loses all their Pokemon, the other side wins. Now please send out your Pokemon!
Carol: Go! Wheat and Bun!
Carol goes for Whimsicott and Azumarill at the same time.
Ash: Wait, we're having a full double battle? That's interesting. If that's the case, Toxtricity and Blaziken! I choose you!
After both Pokemon appear, Whimsicott starts the battle by using Cotton Guard to raise its Defense Stats, but it has four times weakness with Poison Type, and Toxtricity's Poison Jab knocks out the Pokemon.
Carol: I'll be switching into RubySwirl!
Her third Pokemon is Alcremie, and it goes for Acid Armor to raise its evasiveness. And for Blaziken, it gets hit by Azumarill's Waterfall, and eventually, it is knocked out by Azumarill's Play Rough.
Ash: Crobat! I need your help.
Crobat uses Cross Poison to knock Azumarill off, even though it struggles by using Waterfall to make Toxtricity flinch. Toxtricity is then defeated by Dazzling Gleam, after missing the Poison Jab.
Carol: Go! Pudding!
Ash: Bisharp! I choose you!
The fourth Pokemon for Carol is Slurpuff, and Ash goes for Bisharp. Slurpuff uses Belly Drum to raise its Attack stats, and Alcremie uses Decorate to power up, and it causes Bisharp to be defeated by a Drain Punch.
Lillie: This is bad for Ash...he has already lost three Pokemon...
Emily: My brother can win this, I'm pretty sure of it.
Ash: Empoleon! You're next.
Ash goes for the Water Type Pokemon, and with the help of Crobat's Cross Poison, Alcremie is poisoned, and it is defeated by Air Slash.
Carol: Soup or hero! Don't you think you have won yet! Pita! (Sends out Florges)
Worrying for the Drain Punch, Ash has both Pokemon go for Slurpuff by using Metal Claw and Poison Fang. Florges uses Grassy Terrain to recover some of the HP, and goes for Aromatherapy when Slurpuff gets poisoned, in the end, Slurpuff is defeated, but Florges defeats Crobat with Moonblast.
Ash: Pikachu, you're my last hope.
Carol: I'll be using Melonpan!
Pikachu nods at Ash's words as he jumps into the field, while Carol goes for a Shiny Clefable. Pikachu uses Iron Tail to defeat Florges, and even though Clefable goes for Flamethrower to deal a lot of damage to both Empoleon and Pikachu, they use Hydro Pump and Thunderbolt at the same time to defeat the final Pokemon of Carol.
Referee: Both Clefable and Florges are unable to battle, which means Ash is the winner.
Ash: Alright! (High Fives Pikachu)
Carol: That was really fun! (Recalls both Pokemon.)
Lillie: (Rushes to Ash and she is happy for his win) You did it again! You won!
Ash: Thanks, Lillie. I couldn't have done it without the help of our Pokemon.
Carol: Thanks for the battle, soup or hero! You and Emily battle better than a lot of older people! Here's the Glitter Badge!
Ash takes his fourteenth badge and thanks her.
Carol: I really look up to you, you know! Keep being a soup or hero Ceolis can be proud of!
After getting outside of the Candy Land, Crolea is still waiting for them as she is a little impatient for waiting.
Crolea: I take it you've both got your Badges?
Emily: (Shows the badge) We did!
Crolea: Congratulations!
Ash: It feels like we started not long ago...but we only have four badges left, and those four last leaders are apparently Elite 4 level themselves. I wonder if we're ready for this.
Crolea: They are stronger than the Elite 4 from some other regions, even. They've got a trick up their sleeve that the other leaders don't. And our actual Elite 4 are even stronger than that. It'll be tough, but I think you can do it! You've already come farther than most challengers. Will Carol be coming with us, by the way, or is she coming to the party on her own?
Gladion: We'd asked her before heading out of the gym. She said that she's still making preparations.
Crolea: Alright then! Moon can take all of us!
Ash: (Looks at her with a weird expression) Are you sure? I mean...what if your Celesteel destroy the place?
Crolea: Trust me, I trained it not to do that.
Then all sigh as they jump onto Celesteela, as they are flying towards Mt. Spoon.
Crolea: Here we are! Mt. Spoon!
Ash, Lillie, Emily, and Gladion notice that they are at the foot of the mountain, as they can see that the mountain is not that tall, and it is made of iron and steel.
Crolea: My mom's Gym/workplace is just up ahead!
Delicia: Cake! :D
Delicia, Felicia, Emily, and Gladion walk upstairs, but Crolea stops Ash and Lillie as she has something to tell them.
Crolea: So, about your plan to warn Hoopa. With Felicia here, that'll have to be delayed until after the party.
Lillie: I guess that's fair. When the party's over and Felicia leaves, then we'll go to the desert!
Before they climb the mountain, they check out the Pokemon living in the area, they find A-Diglett, Phanpy, Beldum, Drilbur, A-Dugtrio, Donphan, Metang, and Excadrill. As they aren't going to capture new Pokemon, so they notice a talking Corvinight on the road.
Corviknight: Hi. If you don't have any Pokemon that can learn Fly, you'll be stuck here. So if you don't, I'm here to take you back if you need to go somewhere else.
Ash: Well, we don't need to go anywhere right now...
Corviknight: If that's the case, here is the gift that you might need it.
He gives them the Mega Stone for Corviknight, much to their surprise. After thanking the bird, they head back to Mt. Spoon as they are climbing to Crolea's mother's workshop.
Ash finally gets his fourteenth badge, and now it is about time for Crolea's birthday party. It might be very hard to write considering how many guests are. I hope you like it.
