CHAPTER 25. The Dragon Riders.

ON HICCUP AND ASTRID

[... searching for Toothless. Hiccup spots him among the burning ships.]

HICCUP: There!

[He steers the Nadder over the deck and hands Astrid the reins. He lines up his jump... and hops off, guarding his face from the flames. He lands on the burning deck.]

Brave. " complemented Eugene.

HICCUP: (CONT'D) (TO ASTRID) Go help the others!

Astrid grabs Hiccup's hand and gives it a hard squeeze, a worried look plastered on her face. Hiccup frowned at her and returned the gesture, his face showing worry as well.

[She and the Nadder take off. As Hiccup fights his way to Toothless. He unbuckles the muzzle. Toothless shrieks.]

HICCUP: (CONT'D) Okay, hold on. Hold on.

[He gets to work on the chains.]

[ON SNOTLOUT AND FISHLEGS They clang their weapons against their shields, making the monster wince.]

SNOTLOUT: It's working.

Gobber snorted. " Oh really? Look at your dragons! " Scolded at the two.

[The huge beast starts to sway its head dizzily.]

FISHLEGS: Yeah! It's working.

The Vikings cheer at that but Kristoff then stated.

Um I don't mean to pop your bubble but… " Kristoff began as Gobber Facepalmed.

[PAN DOWN to reveal that the noise is also confusing the Gronckle and the Monstrous Nightmare. Both dragons lose their bearings.]

Doesn't make noise distract all dragons. " Kristoff says.That's when Hiccup suddenly turn paled causing Astrid's Attention to him

What? " Astrid asked.

If they are making noise, shouldn't that affect their own dragons too? " he answered.

[Both dragons lose their bearings. The Red Death thrashes, knocking Snotlout off of his dragon and onto the monster's gigantic head. Snotlout bounces across the top and comes to a stop just shy of the hundred foot drop.]

Fishlegs laughed. " Ha! I stayed up longer than you did, Snotlout! " He TauntSnotlout was out of his bindings now. How? I have no clue.

Oh really? " Smirk Snotlout.

SNOTLOUT: Agghh!

[Fishlegs' Gronckle goes down in a spin of confusion.]

HA! IN YOUR FACE FISHLEGS! " Fishlegs pouted.

[As the teens shout, their dragons become confused. Hookfang lurches forward and collides with the Red Death. Snotlout barely manages to stop himself from falling off.]

I'm too young to die! " Snotlout shouted. When everyone looked at him, he continued hastily. " And much too handsome… " He trails off as everyone rolls their eyes well, most of them but the girls Gagged at this.

SNOTLOUT- Woah!

[As The Red Death thrashes, knocking Snotlout off of his dragon and onto the monster's gigantic head. Snotlout bounces across the top and comes to a stop just shy of the hundred foot drop.]

SNOTLOUT: Agghh!

Wasabi yelped, burying his face in his hands.GoGo kicked him in the leg. " Woman up. This doesn't happen yet, and he is sitting here, just fine. " she glared at Snotlout. " Unfortunately. " she added quietly.

[And with Fishlegs' Gronckle goes down in a spin of confusion.]

FISHLEGS: I've lost power on the Gronckle. Snotlout! Do something!

[He hurls Snotlout his hammer. The Gronkle crashes and skids to a stop…]

FISHLEGS: (CONT'D) I'm okay!

Several in the audience sigh in relief.

[... then flips over, crushing Fishlegs.]

FISHLEGS: (CONT'D) (FEEBLE) Less okay.

Not able to help themselves, several people burst out laughing or in Anna and Elsa's case giggling behind their hands.

[BACK TO SNOTLOUT ... who eyes the Red Death's gigantic, veiny eyes. He raises the hammer…]

SNOTLOUT: I can't miss!

[... and hammers the monster's eyes, playing whack-a-mole.]

YAY! Whack-a-mole! " Suddenly GV ( Hiccstrid-Smp2) Appears out of nowhere, before grabbing a huge mallet, and running toward the Vikings. She hammered Stoick and Snotlout on the head, and stalked back to the others in the VIP section. The two males were left looking very confused.

SNOTLOUT: (CONT'D) What's wrong buddy, got something in your eye?

Wow. That was actually funny! " said Astrid. Then she caught Snotlout looking at her proudly. She glared at him and punched him in the face. " Don't let it get to your head. " She scoff at him.

[Astrid flies by on her Nadder, catching Snotlout in all his heroics.]

ASTRID: Yeah! You're the Viking!

Astrid's eyes widened in shock.

Did I seriously just say that to Snotface!? " She asked Hiccup who just sniggered into his hand earning a small punch to the gut only making him laugh harder.

Astrid sent a glare in Snotlout's direction who just Recover from her punch earlier instead of seeing him in discomfort from that punch in the face she only to see him wiggling his eyebrows at her.

Astrid covers her mouth.

I think I'm gonna throw up. " She tried not to vomit.

[Snotlout grins, finally vindicated in her eyes. In his distraction, he gets thrown and lands heavily on one of the Red Death's spines - clinging precariously. A close call.]

SNOTLOUT: Whoa!

Focus Snotlout! " Gobber says snapping into teacher mode, " have I taught you nothing! " He adds on before realizing he's talking to an inanimate object.

ON THE GROUND

[The monster's tail sweeps across the burning ships, snapping masts like twigs. We follow one down as it crashes onto a deck, revealing... HICCUP Working at the chains. He can't budge them. Fire licks at his clothes.]

Stoick is getting more and more worried and guilty by the minute as he watches his son risk his life just because of his mistakes- never again, he promises himself. Never again shall Hiccup be ignored, he is going to make sure of that! But first Hiccup still hates him...not that Stoick can blame Hiccup in fact quite the opposite it was his own fault but how could he apologize for something so big...

[He looks up to see...THE RED DEATH blasting at the teens, enraged. The monster's giant foot crashes through the flame, smashing the bow under its impressive weight.]

NO! " several people shout out but the loudest is Stoick.

[Hiccup and Toothless are thrown into the water in a maelstrom of burning planks and rigging.]

Many Gasps were heard but Ryker looked very confused.

Did you just pet him before you started tugging on the chains!? While underwater!? " Gape The Hunter.

Hiccup smiled. " Yep. " He said, which made astrid Punch him in the Shoulder causing him to yelp.

However while this was happening The temperature started dropping. Everyone but Anna and the rest of the Frozen cast was looking for the source.

UNDERWATER

[Hiccup swims toward Toothless. They're both caught in a mess of rigging, being dragged down. The heavy palette settles into the rocky bottom like an anchor. Toothless has stopped struggling. Hiccup takes one more hopeless tug at the chains - he's almost out of air.]

Hiccup, get out of there! Toothless can last a long time holding his breath but you… " Astrid trails off, looking deeply upset. Toothless nods his head reverently at Hiccup, telling him to leave his future self.

[Suddenly, a meaty hand grabs Hiccup.]

Valka leaned forward, almost falling off of the rafter, when a claw snagged her shirt and pulled her back. She glanced up to see her Stormcutter. " Thanks, Cloudjumper. " she whispered.

[STOICK explodes to the surface, pulling Hiccup to the shoreline through flaming debris. He lays him down, under the shelter of an overhanging rock.]

HICCUP: (OVERWHELMED) Dad…

Stoick lets out a breath he had been holding- Hiccup was safe!

[Stoick dives back into the water between flaming flotsam.]

Is he- " started Tadashi.

UNDERWATER

[ON TOOTHLESS, drowning. Stoick appears in front of him. Toothless freezes. Stoick tears the chains off of the yoke and lets it float free. Momentary stillness.]

Yup. " Tadashi answer his own question.

[They eye each other, through the churned up bubbles. Toothless lunges out of the bars - grabbing Stoick. BOOM! In an explosion of sea water, Toothless lands on the shore, setting Stoick down and releasing him. Hiccup is awed.]

And that's when The screen faded to black I turned to the others and then said.

I would like all the teens, including Astrid and Hiccup, to please follow me. " I said, and the six teens followed her out of the room, with Toothless trailing behind them.As I led them to a separate room, where gathered there, was a Monstrous Nightmare, a Hideous Zippleback, and a Gronkle. With a nod to Hiccup and Astrid, I apparate out of the room and disappeared in a clad Blue Smoke ( Imagine me Using that Teleportation smoke trick from the Disney Crossover Live action Series Once UPON A TIME. ) Hiccup took a deep breath and turned to the other teens.

Do you all want to learn how to ride dragons? " he asked, and there was a slight pause.

I would. " Fishlegs said, stepping forward. He was followed by the Twins, and then by Snotlout. Hiccup spent a few minutes thinking over each of the teens' personalities, then grinned.

Alright. Fishlegs, you will be paired with the Gronkle, Twins, you're with the Zippleback, and Snotlout, you've got the Nightmare. First, you need to create a bond with your new dragon. " Hiccup said, and helped the teens put their hands over the dragons' snouts, creating a bond.

Now, you've gained their trust, you can name them. " Hiccup said. Fishlegs looked over his new friend, and choose to name her " Meatlug ". The Twins decided to name their dragon Barf and Belch, after their gas and sparks. Snotlout called his Nightmare Hookfang. After all this happened, saddles appeared on the backs of the new dragons, and Hiccup grinned.

Who wants to ride their dragon? " he asked his new friends.
