Nico's POV:

"Yeah, tell me about it" I said to Percy, as he bit his lip. William stepped up and spoke.

"Yeah, so I had this place built on the river Acheron cause I wanted to experiment with death and stuff. Apparently if there is enough Agony, which is created by using something in a way it wasn't created for, and a soul, then you can create remnant, which can bring someone back from the dead. They have to have a host body and enough remnant though, which is why I had this place built on top of Acheron. Acheron is basically made completely of agony, and you only need 1 soul to make enough remnant to possess something." William said. I was a little bit shocked, as I never heard of anything like this. Remnant? Agony? Yeah, never heard of anything like this. I should probably bring this to my father and ask him what I should do about it.

"Yeah imma go visit my dad, be right back" I said. I saw Percy look shocked and a bit scared as I shadow leaped to the underworld. I didn't get why he would look scared... Unless he was dead, but then he wouldn't be a human, right? I mean, William said that they needed a vessel to possess, and I don't think a dead body is a very good vessel for a soul. I opened my eyes as I felt myself enter the underworld.

"Hey dad, I was wondering if you would let any random souls stay up on the surface world if they could stay alive but are dead?" I asked my dad when I found him sitting in his throne room, talking to the person who technically was my step-mom (aka Persephone).

"I- son, what?" He said, with a look of confusion on his face. I sighed, understanding why he would look confused. After all, I just learned about all this remnant immortality death stuff, and I was confused as well, not to mention that I was the son of the god of the dead.

"Yeah, so I recently met someone on Earth, and he told me, and I quote 'Yeah, so I had this place built on the river Acheron cause I wanted to experiment with death and stuff. "Yeah, I guess that could work, not that I ever tried it. Well, the underworld is pretty full anyways, so I don't really care. If anyone cares, it'd probably be thanatos, but then again, he probably wouldn't care either. So they can stay alive." He said.

"Ok dad" I said, shadow leaping back up to Earth. I saw Percy, and we made eye contact. Then, I noticed that Mike was perfectly fine.

"Hey, so yeah my dad said you guys can all still be alive and stuff because the underworld is too full. Anyways, did you give Mike some remnant or something?" I changed the topic, as Percy seemed to breath a sigh of relief. Maybe he really is a dead soul who had remnant in their corpse and they started possessing it.

"Yeah, we gave Mike some remnant because apparently some random animatronic decided it was a good idea to RIP OUT ALL HIS ORGANS" Percy said, pointing at a random spaghetti animatronic that I didn't notice earlier.

"H-hi?" He said. Now that I know about remnant, I could tell that there was actually a large amount hanging around this place. I wasn't too sure what it was before, but now that I know, I could feel it coming from basically every individual, with some people having more than 1.

"Hey, uh.. So like now that I know remnant exists, I can feel a lot of it around here. So like, is everyone dead or something?" I asked, hoping that the answer is no.

"Well, uh... Yeah. The only one that wasn't dead before today was Mike, and now he's dead... So..." Percy said. I just stood there in shock. After 15 years, I find out that Percy is technically immortally dead.

"Ok, well that's a bummer. Wait, but that means that when Zeus was threatening you, you could've just said no?" I said, thinking back to what Leo told me what happened at Olympus.

"Yeah, but first of all, we can still feel pain, so I'd rather not get zapped by a 4 billion volt lightning bolt. Second of all, it'd look really suspicious to everyone else if I was just like 'GO ON COWARD, ZAP ME! SEE WHAT HAPPENS!', wouldn't it?" Percy said, as I felt the eyes of a lot of people on the two of us.

"Yeah, now that you say it like that, it makes sense. But wait a second... SINCE WHEN WERE YOU SMART?" I couldn't help but ask. He was like a brother to me, and I knew him for a long time now. This was definitely not the Percy I knew.

"Hehe, yeah I think the springlocks did something to my brain and made me smart or something" Percy said. I heard William gasp in the corner of the room. Springlock? What is a springlock?

"I thought you said you died by suicide?" William said, and I felt my eyes widen in shock. There was no way that Percy would commit suicide... right?

"Yeah, Suicide by springlocks. It seems that you forgot that I can control liquids?" Percy said. I still couldn't believe that Percy would do something like that. Suicide?

"Wait a second, first of all, what are springlocks, and why would you commit suicide?" I asked, as Percy turned to face me.

"Yeah, well my mom and my step dad were both killed by the gods, I was betrayed and kicked out of camp, and I just had the perfect opportunity to kill myself. What do you think I'd do? Also, springlocks are part of a suit, where it holds back the mechanics. This way, the suit can be operated by a person inside and by machinery. A springlock failure is when the springlocks snap and all of the little bitty pieces of metal dig into you. Usually happens when you add moisture though" Percy said, and I felt the gears turn in my head.

"Alright, we should probably give the medkit back to Chiron though, and he's probably really worried. If you have any questions, you can ask them on the way" Percy said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Nah, I don't really have anymore questions. Lets go. Also, your secret is safe with me." I said, grabbing the medkit.

"Sweet, lets go"
