Antonio knew it would be best to go back to the precinct so he could be useful at work and headed to Hailey's room to warn Jay that he was leaving.
When he got there, however, what he saw made him smile.
His colleague had collapsed in his chair. He was sleeping soundly holding his partner by the hand.
He decided not to wake him and went to find Will to at least warn him.
- Maggie do you know where Dr. Halstead is? he asked her
- In the doctors room I think,- she replied
-Thank you,- he said, - could you bring a blanket to Hailay's room?- Jay fell asleep in the chair. -
- Yes, sure - and having said that the nurse moved away from the detective, took a blanket and placed it on top of the boy who continued to sleep soundly without noticing anything.
He was really in pieces, exhausted.
But his body was shaking like a leaf.
Something was happening in him.
His breathing was shallow, not normal.
Probably in the fight he must have taken a few hits in the ribs. He felt aches and pains when he took deeper breaths.
Besides, he was frozen to the bone, swimming in the sea, the cold afternoon wind of a spring month that of March with the season delaying in coming, the chill of the room where Hailay was kept had not helped him.
Meanwhile, Antonio had reached Will to inform him that he would go to the district and return later.
It seemed strange to the doctor that the detective had informed him and not his brother about this.
-Where is Jay? - He asked worriedly.
- He was exhausted and he fell asleep while he was sitting next to Hailey, - Antonio explained. - I was sorry to wake him up.
Having said that he left.
