When Jay woke up the sun was already high in the sky.

- What am I doing in bed? What time is it? - he thought to himself.

He picked up the phone and read on the display that it was 10:30. He had slept for another three and a half hours. He had promised Hailay to arrive at the hospital an hour and a half before.

Even though he had slept all those extra hours he felt weak, tired. He got up anyway and in no time he got ready to go out. He put on a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt over the shirt he was already wearing and a pair of sneakers.

Taking his jacket he left the house and headed for the car. On a normal day he would spend time in front of the mirror to fix his hair, that day because he was late or because he didn't really want to and he didn't.

When he left the building where his apartment was, he shivered as he felt the wind on his skin. Although it was sunny, a cold wind blew making itself felt, in fact it also ruffled his hair that was not fixed by gel or wax.

He got in the car and drove to the Med. He was hoping to get good news from the doctors about when his colleague could finally get out of the hospital.

She was fine for him. Fortunately, the detective had found her early enough and the treatment had been timely.

As soon as he got there he got out of the car and ran to Hailey. He was already too late.

He had stopped to buy some flowers too.

- Good morning colleague,- he said

- Good morning - she replied - what beautiful flowers! You are late. Do you want to be forgiven? -

- Sorry... I'm sorry, - the detective said

- Quiet, just ... You're never late. Something wrong? - Hailey asked seeing him a bit strange and noticing that he sniffed very often.

- Yes I'm fine. I just fell asleep. I don't really know how. I went for a run and then I was getting ready to come to you on time and I dozed off again. - said the detective.

- Well obviously you needed it - said Haily smiling.

Meanwhile, Jay sat down next to his colleague's bed and the two chatted and laughed all the time.

Shortly after, however, the doctor arrived to visit Hailey and he had to go out and sit in the waiting room.
