It had been a week since he'd saved his partner.

Hailey would finally be back at work that day. Jay was delighted to have her back by his side.

It was a Wednesday in April, the temperature was still low, but not like in the previous days. The sun was shining more and more in the sky and it was starting to be a pleasure to work outside the district.

Intelligence was investigating a murder case. A young girl in her thirties had been murdered. Ruzek and Olinsky had discovered that it was 28-year-old Raya Coleman, a dancer at Starlight, a Chicago nightclub.

Halsted and Upton had the task of going to talk to the owner of the place and with those who worked with her to gather as much information as possible.

Since he had saved his colleague, however, Jay did not feel at his best and the more the days passed, the worse he felt.

The cold had gotten worse and he was always feeling tired, fatigued.

That morning the detective woke up early, he wanted to go running like he did every day, but he didn't have the energy to do it.

He stayed in bed lazing and went back to sleep.

It wasn't until his phone started ringing that he woke up.

- Hallo - he replied confused

- Jay, where did you go? Did you forget to pick me up? - Hailey said worriedly.

The detective turned to the bedside table to check the time on the alarm display.

It was 8:45 am.

- I'm on the street, I ended up in a traffic jam. Anyway I almost got to you - he said coughing from time to time as he quickly got out of bed.

- Okay, but hurry up. At 9:00 we have to be in the district. I'm going to Harry's for breakfast. There will be a good coffee and a croissant waiting for you. -

- Ok, I'm coming. -said the detective still coughing from time to time and after thanking her for breakfast he closed the call.

He had to hurry. He only had fifteen minutes to get ready, sort house, pick up Hailey and go to the precinct.

He put on a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt and tennis shoes. He took his jacket, phone, wallet and keys and left the house.

He had done everything in a hurry, but that didn't justify the sense of fatigue he felt.

Maybe he was all the fault of the cold he got from him after saving Hailey.

But he felt really strange, and then there was not to forget that annoying dry cough that had been torturing him from the previous night.
