Once they left the girl, the detectives headed for their car.

They had to return to the district as soon as possible to inform others of the progress made.

They had been out for a long time and, although it was for the investigation, and Voight had already been Warner, it was better not to waste any more time.

At the district, meanwhile, Adam was in front of the PC. He was looking for information on the tattoo described by Delphine Evans and the person who wore it.

Each of the detectives was busy and focused on their work and there was total silence in the room.

The only noises that could be heard were: the taps of the pens that opened and closed nervously, or that were placed on the tables, the typing of keys on the keyboards and the leafing pages of paper documents.

At one point it was Adam who broke into that silence.

- Eureka! I got it! found! he shouted.

Everyone turned their attention away from what they were doing to turn it to him.

- What - Kim asked him

- What did you find? - Antonio asked him too.

- The person the tattoo belongs to,- Adam replied.

- We are waiting for Hailay and Jay to return and then you will inform us of everything you have discovered. - Antonio said

At that point everyone got back to work only to be interrupted once again by Adam.

- Hey guys, aren't you hungry? - churches

- A little,- Kim replied

- Is it time for lunch already? - Kevin asked, dazed by how fast time had passed that morning.

So Ruzek picked up the phone to make a call.

Upton and Halstead were then preparing to leave immediately to join their colleagues.

- It's already lunchtime! - Hailey said reading the time on the display of the cell phone before placing it on the car. - it's strange that Adam hasn't called yet ..

She was interrupted by the very ring of the telephone.

- Adam tell me,- he replied

- Hailey listen, it being lunch time could you stop by, being out for something to eat? - asked the policeman

- Yes, sure, - she replied, laughing and counting Jay too

- Why are you laughing? - the unsuspecting policeman asked on the other end of the phone.

- Nothing, nothing, - she replied

- Well - Ruzek said, rolling his eyes before continuing - whoever understands you is good. Anyway here's what we would like ... -

And so the cop started making his list while Jay jotted everything down on his phone.

Once finished, the call closed, the two left for the restaurant.

Wanting to stop for a bite to eat wanted to be an excuse derived from the fact that the detective saw her colleague very tired and fatigued and thought, also given the numerous yawns he did, that perhaps something to eat and a good coffee would have cheered him up. .

Adam's call had fallen flat to help her in the situation.

The two then stopped shortly after at the diner near the district.

It was Jay who, reluctantly, had to go down to order and then collect everything: soups, sandwiches, pizzas, drinks and coffee. Hailey was forced to tell her colleague what she wanted her. Unfortunately there was no parking space and she was forced to stay in the car.

Jay had to wait a while to get everything he had ordered. He couldn't wait to get out of that club. He had no desire to eat and the smell of food in that diner made him nauseous.

The detective, however, knew that if he had said it he would have aroused even more concern both in the colleague and then in the whole district.

He had to find a solution. And that was when one was served to him on a silver platter.

A little boy, perhaps attending middle school, was sitting at one of the tables and was devouring a pizza. After finishing he went to pay and left the club.

Jay, without being noticed, went to his table and took the paper in which the piece of pizza the boy had eaten was wrapped.

Once everything was ready, he paid and walked out of the diner with the bag in one hand and the card in the other.

Staggering a little and shivering at the difference in temperature outside the room, he walked over to Hailay making her notice him. He pretended he had finished eating. Then before getting into the car he crumpled up the paper throwing it in the bin always making sure to be seen.

- Sorry I was so hungry I couldn't wait,- Halstead said as he got into the car. - with the scent that was in that diner it was impossible to wait to eat. -

Hailey was happy and satisfied. She once again she had guessed what her partner needed from him, or at least she thought she did.

Jay, for his part, had kept his eyes closed all the way, and once again fell asleep pampered by the warmth that spread in the car.

His colleague watching him could not help but find his behavior strange.

Was it possible that he fell asleep in every place? When she was in the hospital he slept because he was tired, but now?

- Could laryngitis cause drowsiness? Hailey thought

Immersed in her thoughts, the detective then parked the car.

Of course she made various noises, some even voluntarily, but nothing seemed to wake the detective.

- Hey Jay! here we are. We have to go in. - she said, shaking him a little.

The detective opened his eyes slightly and struggled to get out of the car.

- Are you sure you're okay? - she asked him running beside her.

- Yes, I'm fine,- he replied in a faint voice. - I'm just sleepy.-

As soon as I start talking a cough fit almost leaves him breathless.

Coming this then Hailey, helped him, asked him again:

- Are you sure? -

- Yes, take it easy. The doctor gave me a migraine lozenge before the interrogation, and she warned me that I might be drowsy. - he replied after recovering.

Hailey calmed down a bit for the explanation and the two then headed into the district.
