Earlier that night, she was nervous. She was applying make up and primping herself up. What am I doing? She felt her stomach flip and not because she was nervous. She felt guilty.
But, Liz was right. I needed to get out and stop waiting on Goren. I needed to spend some time with someone who was not embedded in every part of my life. I need to let myself be a woman and take care of myself and my needs.
She forced herself to put on sultry smoky make-up to esensuate her green eyes. Then, she slipped on her favorite dark green dress with a split high along the thigh that accentuated her legs and figure. If she looked good, more often than not, she felt good. That dress had her breathing in confidence and oozing out flirtation.
Then, she drove and dialed Peter's number.
Present time
Peter was in the bathroom.
She walked up to Goren. "How are you?" It almost broke her heart to see him in this shape. She could tell he was intoxicated from the whiskey aroma that perfumed his body. He rose and was standing uncomfortably close to her. He always had a way of invading everyone's personal space but this time it felt intense and he hadn't spoken at all yet.
She watched as Goren leaned his head into her neck and he smelled her perfume. It was a musky, sexy spice that was intoxicating. He internally groaned as his senses were bombarded by how amazing she looked and smelled. He couldn't help himself when he thought about how she might taste, feel, and the sounds she would make against his body. He noted how the dress hugged her body like a second skin and his hands instantly wanted to turn her around and grip her hips and run his fingers along and under that slit.
She felt his loneliness like an all-encompassing shadow. It was that moment, She saw something in his eyes that was missing for months: desire.
He turned away and went back to his drink as he pictured the many times he's had Eames naked in his arms. All the emotions and memories flooded back. He remembered the night at the bar where her hand touched his thigh and how his hands made its way up her dress without her protest. He remembered the cab ride and the moment where he stripped her naked and had sex with her for the first time. A lump formed in his throat. He exhaled hard. He downed his drink to push it away.
"Maybe, you should stop drinking and call it a night."
Goren didn't answer just stared ahead.
"Look, I didn't know you would be here."
His lack of response worried her. Usually, she could guess what was going through his mind but now she couldn't. He was blank, far away from her. All she knew was he wasn't doing well. Maybe, I was being too hard on him.
They hadn't actually talked really since he had let himself into her home. Sure, they had brief talks while working but it was one sided and she basically dared him to quit. Now, she was on a date with Peter, knowing that Goren wasn't a fan of him. But that was the point, right let him know what he was missing. Not that she had planned it to be here where he was currently hammering down drinks.
She touched his arm to get his attention. It was soft touch, a reassuring, I hope you're okay kind of way. It was all the invitation he needed.
