Dr. Halstead came to the front door of his brother's apartment.
He began to knock on his door, gradually getting louder, but got no answer.
Looking around, he found the spare key under the doormat in front of his door, right in the same place Will kept his.
- Just like me - the doctor said to himself with a small smile that lit up his face for a second.
Without thinking about it for a moment, he inserted the key into the lock and opened the door.
The apartment was dark, all the lights were out. There seemed to be nobody there.
The doctor began to look around and call him.
- Jay are you there? I'm Will.-
Suddenly his attention was attracted by a small flashing light that came from the hall.
He walked over and noticed that it was his brother's cell phone. The display lit up due to the numerous messages and phone calls the detective had received.
According to the SMS and call times, Jay hadn't looked at him in a long time.
Continuing to walk around the house, Will stopped when he heard moans coming from the bedroom.
As he entered, he saw a lump on the bed, under the covers.
- Jay, - he called him gently - I'm Will. Little brother can you hear me? -
He got no response, but what was going on?
The doctor decided to touch the detective to wake him up, shaking him a little.
As soon as he was close to him he felt a great heat coming from his brother's body.
Jay was wrapped in numerous blankets and was wearing a sweatshirt and heavy pants and was rolled up, literally, in them.
The doctor first tried to remove the ones covering his face and touched his forehead.
- Heck Jay, you have a high fever - Will thought.
He ran to the bathroom and found the thermometer. He inserted it into his ear and was shocked to read his temperature, 39.8
He had a very high fever.
