Will felt helpless, he could not help but stand there in a corner to observe the situation.

- We got he Will.- Rhodes said without turning, but sensing what his colleague's mood could be at that moment and wanting to calm him down in some way.

Dr. Halstead left the room and stood in the corridor. He could no longer stand there with our hands. He wanted to scream out all the pain he felt inside of him, he wanted to make sure to relieve his brother's suffering. He was desperate and not being able to do anything was destroying him even more.

- Will! - a sad Maggie called him, trying to get his attention by approaching him.

It had been nearly an hour since he'd brought Jay over to the Med and Connor was taking care of him.

The doctor, however, did not answer the nurse, he was standing there facing the wall that was in front of the door of the room where his brother had been taken.

His whole body trembled, he felt in pieces. He came from a long and exhausting shift, he hadn't slept and then the pain of seeing Jay in that condition made him feel bad.

The adrenaline was now waning and he felt more and more drained of energy. He stood there, motionless with his gaze lost in the void. He should have stayed rational, he was a doctor after all. But when it came to Jay, there was no way he could remain cool and aloof. It is not for nothing that everyone says that one must avoid taking care of one's family.

All of a sudden Will's legs went limp and soon gave way. Everything turned black before his eyes and the doctor fainted.

Immediately Meggie knelt beside him and was joined by one of the doctors on the night shift who was free at the time and who had witnessed the scene.

Dr. Halstead was then loaded onto a stretcher and taken to another room.

Fortunately there was nothing physical, he was just destroyed, which is why his pressure had dropped suddenly causing him to collapse. He just needed to rest. The doctor who had taken him however asked Meggie to insert a IV to give him fluids.

Meanwhile, both Natalie and Hailey had arrived in the waiting room. The first of her, received the message from her boyfriend, had called Hellen to be with Owen who was already asleep. She wanted to be close to her love and help him in case of need. The second, however, after her family had left, she had tried several times to contact both Jay, but also Will for news. Having received no response from either of them, the detective eventually called Dr. Manning who explained the situation to her and told her that she was on her way to the hospital and that they could meet there.

Once inside the Ed Meggie walked over to them.

- Hi Natalie, Hailey. - she greeted them

Hi Meggie, I'm looking for Will, he told me he was coming here to bring Jay.- said the doctor.

- Yes, they arrived here just over an hour ago. Dr. Rhodes is visiting Jay and Will is ... resting. replied the nurse.

At that point the woman informed the doctor and the detective of what had happened and so in the end she accompanied Natalie to her boyfriend while Hailey remained in the waiting room waiting for news occupying the time warning the other colleagues of what had happened to their friend. . Although it was past midnight she was convinced that they were all awake and in addition she knew that they wanted to know what was going on.

An hour later Will woke up suddenly. He felt dizzy, he had no idea where he was and what had happened. It took him a while to focus on where he was right now.

As soon as he realized he was on a bed in a hospital room, he jumped up and sat up and tried to get out of it. He just wanted to go back to Jay, be beside him.

But It was non Easy.

His body did not cooperate. He was sluggish, tired, too weak. His head was spinning and his arm was blocked, an IV was inserted, certainly to give him some fluids.

A gentle hand at that moment landed on his free arm and immediately Will turned to her seeing that Natalie was there beside him.

- My love, stay down, you need to rest a little. - he told him

- No! I ... I have to go back to Jay, I need to see how he's doing. - replied the doctor trying in every way to stand up.

Just then the doctor who had taken care of him entered the room

- Doctor Halstead, hello. I'm Doctor Lanter. I was the one who rescued him when he passed out. - began the doctor - his body has faced a considerable effort and now he needs to rest in order to recover. -

- I can't rest I have to go back to my brother, I have to know how he is, I have to be close to him. - Will said.

- If he does not give his body a chance to recover will not be of any help to his brother. - explained the doctor.

Just then Dr. Rhodes entered the room and Will turned his full attention to him. He needed news.

- How is he? - he asked immediately

- Jay is in critical condition, but he is stable nonetheless. He has bad pneumonia. He is now in intensive care. We are giving him antibiotics which should help fight the infection and reduce the fever. We are also using some cooling blankets and ice, it is important to reduce his body temperature. The saturation is low, his pulse too fast ...-

The worry was growing in him, the Will felt more and more the need to reach his brother and be with him. Only his body wouldn't allow it.

April ran into Will's room, interrupting the conversation and opening the door she claimed Dr. Rhodes.

- Doctor is having a fit, - she told him and so she ran off followed by Connor.

Everything around Will had stopped. The last thing he heard was the nurse's words, was his brother having a fit, a fit? What was happening to him? Why was all this happening?

Will was panicking. Not being able to be by his side, not being able to see with his eyes how Jay felt was driving him crazy. Suddenly the air in that room began to fail, it had become impossible for him to breathe. His heart was beating really hard. He had begun to hyperventilate and tears had started to flow from his eyes again. He was crying out of concern, of the agitation he felt, of the anger he felt at being stuck there in that damn bed. His body had started shaking again.

- Hey Will - Natalie intervened trying to calm him - Breathe with me. -

The doctor held him close to her and in the meantime she stroked his back with movements aimed at calming him as much as possible.

A few minutes later his doctor's breathing had normalized, but the man continued to cry in Natalie's arms.

Slowly, however, Will began to feel his eyelids getting heavier and heavier and although he was trying to fight the sleep that wanted to take possession of him he had to give up and in a short time he collapsed with his head resting on the chest of his woman who was still holding him close to you.

The doctor gently accompanied the sleeping shape of her man, placing him on the bed and tucking the covers.

Dr. Lanter had injected a medicine, a sleeping pill, into Halstead's IV without his noticing. But everything had happened under the watchful eye of Natalie, who she agreed. Will absolutely needed to rest right now. He had to regain his strength to be close to his brother and help him heal.
