Chapter 10

Within the next week the trial of the three rustlers had taken place. And after Adam and Rebecca and the other Cartwrights testimonies, all of them were found guilty of cattle rustling, and trespassing, assault on Adam causing bodily harm. The judge sentenced them to ten years of hard labar at the Nevada State prison.

"Well son's, I guess we can't ask for much more. Let's head home."

"Pa, Rebecca and I are going by our house to see how much more needs to be done."

"Alright son. See you two when you get home."

"Of course. Ready sweetheart?"

"Yes Adam."

"OK, let's go then."

"Adam look."

"I see. Well from the looks of things we're almost ready to move in sweetheart. Let's go and see inside what is left to do."

"Adam, these are the things we bought in San Francisco."

"Yes, it must of come in while we were gone. Looks like my brothers did as I asked of them."

"You asked them to arrange all of this?"

"Yes, and I think they might have had a bit of help from their new ladies."

"Oh Adam. It's so wonderful. Let's look at the kitchen."

"Alright."

"Huhh, oh my, Adam. It's beautiful."

"It certainly is. And every thing here is in place also."

"Should we go look at the bedroom?"

"My favourite room. Absolutely."

They had checked the whole house and in the room ajoined to theirs it was a nursery and there was a crib, rocking chair, toy box, rocking horse, which Adam noticed looked very familiar.

"Adam, is your family trying to tell us something?'

"That would be my guess sweetheart."

"So is it finished now?"

"As far as I can tell. So, when do you want to move in?"

"Oh Adam, our very own home. I would like to go back to the ranch house and get our things and come back."

"Just the answer I was looking for. Come on, let's go."

"Well now, glad to see you're all here."

"Glad to see you to son."

"Ya Adam, we live here. Why wouldn't we all be here?"

"Oh I don't know. Maybe at someones house doing things like put in a crib, rocking chair, rocking horse, in a little room right off the master bedroom."

"Geez Adam, you let someone do all of that for you?"

"Uh huh, gotcha."

"Well son, it was quite the pleasure."

"And most appreciated. And Rebecca wants to move to her new home right away."

"Oh well, need some help?"

"That would be wonderful."

"Tell us what you need us to do then big brother."

"Well, I guess ah, we can get the things from my room that we haven't gotten yet. And Rebecca is getting all of her personal things together."

"Alright then, come on Hoss, let's get the things from Adam's room."

"Right behind ya little brother."

Within the hour they had the rest of Adam and Rebecca's things all loaded into the wagon and the family was on their way to Adam's new home.

"Ok everyone, just take the things in and Rebecca and I will put things where they belong."

"Adam, should I fix something for everyone to eat for helping us?"

"Yes sweetheart, I think that would be wonderful."

"Oh I'm so excited, I'm cooking my first big meal for the whole family in our new home."

"Rebecca my dear, you are a wonderful and amazing woman."

"Oh I don't know Adam. I'm just happy that I'm in this wonderful family."

"And we are blessed to have you sweetheart."

"Thank you Adam." Adam gave her a deep passionate kiss "I love you Adam."

"I love you more Rebecca."

While the men carried every thing inside Rebecca set out to make a big meal to feed the big Cartwright family. She had to remember that she had Hoss to feed also and to cook accordingly. She made fresh biscuits , vegetables, put together three different kinds of meat dishes and a blueberry pie.

"Hey, somethen sure smells good."

"Hoss, would you quit thinking about your gut and help me with this?"

"Oh sorry Joe."

"Hey guys thank you all for this. Come and have some supper."

"Just what I wanted to hear."

"Hoss, help yourself. There is lots."

"Rebecca, this is wonderful. Thank you for going to all this trouble."

"Pa, it was no trouble. After all of you helping with this house and bringing everything in."

"That's right pa, we can't thank you enough."

"It was our pleasure son. It is so good to see you two finally happy together and in this beautiful home."

"Sometimes I still can't believe this is ours."

"Believe it sweetheart."

After everyone had left Adam and Rebecca set out to put things away and make their home an invited place to come home to and have company to come into.

"Sweetheart, I think we have it all finished now. So, why don't we sit down in front of the fireplace and have some wine."

"Adam that sounds so good. I am kind of tired tonight."

"Yes, I noticed that you looked more tired than usual. Are you feeling alright sweetheart?"

"Oh Adam yes. It's just with all of the trip and all."

"Yes well, maybe we should go to bed early tonight."

"Oh, that sounds wonderful. From the look on your face however, you don't just mean to sleep. Which I think I like a lot better."

"Oh my beautiful wife. You do catch on quickly don't you?"

"Well, I do try. Besides we haven't been to bed other than to sleep for quite a while."

"Oh yes, I do know that. So, are you about ready to head for our new beautiful bedroom?"

"Lead the way my love."
