It had been about a week since Lena had seen Sara last, but they were always texting each other throughout their days. She'd been swamped with work, but tomorrow was Friday and she couldn't settle on a place to invite Sara to, so she's been sitting on it. Is a bar too casual? Is another restaurant too basic? Would a movie be too intimate? Gosh, she was so terrible with this stuff! She bet Jess would know...but they weren't close like that. She wasn't...close with anyone, really. Was she ready to let anyone in?
Sara had been working all week, with a couple of double shifts, but was happy to have made some friends at work. It definitely helps the time go by. But still, no matter how amazing her day was, coming home to an empty studio was more than enough to drain out all her happiness. It's gotten to the point where she's caught herself showing up as scenes as small as corner store robberies and staying out all night to avoid the emptiness that was her new home. Still, whenever her phone lit up with a new message from Lena she was filled with such content and warmth, every time.
It was now morning and Lena was just stepping through the doors of her office when it hit her, dinner, and the theatre. She picked up her phone to call Sara…
"Mornin' early bird :)"
'Morning! Thank GOD for coffee, right?!"
"Honestly. Hey, I did want to ask you something though…"
"Shoot"
"What are your thoughts on grabbing dinner and going to the theatre tonight?"
"I mean, I'd love to, it's just-"
"No, it's okay. You're busy, I get that. I mean, who wouldn't want to spend their evening with you"
"Well I was just going to say I have no idea what to wear to a theatre, but I'm more intrigued with the last part of what you said"
"I-I am not-I don't know what you mean"
"Mmhmm..."
"Will you just answer my question, please!" Leana whines
"I'd love to." she says after letting out an amused chuckle
"Okay, sweet! So I'll pick you up at 6? There's a nice restaurant right next to the theatre"
"Sounds perfect!"
"Great, it's a date! See you la-"
Lena immediately hung up once she realized what she said. There was no way she was getting out of that one guilt-free. Though, she wasn't even sure she wanted to. For now, she just wanted to see what the possibilities were.
Sara stood in the break room with a smirk on her face. She knew exactly what she heard and could easily imagine Lena's flustered panic as she abruptly hung up. Sara loved how flustered she got sometimes and began to wonder how flustered she could get…
It was around 530 and Lena was putting the finishing touches on her outfit. It was a good thing she had a bathroom and closet in her office because there's no way she would've made it otherwise. She took one last look in the mirror before grabbing her purse and phone and heading to her limo.
This time, it was Sara's turn to freak out about her wardrobe. She figured she had about twenty minutes, at least, before Lena got there. Currently, she's stuck between a black and gold three-piece suit and a navy blue dress shirt and black pants. The last thing she wanted to be was underdressed, but was overdressed just as bad? She couldn't stop thinking about what Lena was wearing...a dream in a colorful dress? Purple? Red? Maybe even a colored suit? Whatever it is, Sara knows she will be the most stunning woman in every room.
Lena had arrived about five minutes early and her stomach was in knots. Forget butterflies, it was like fire-breathing dragons in her stomach. She knew once she met those beautiful blue eyes everything else would melt away though. So, she checked her makeup, took a few deep breaths, and made her way to the door of Sara's studio. She hadn't even realized she'd knocked until she saw a breathtaking wavy-haired blonde Sara in a black three-piece suit with gold accents and dress shoes to match just a foot away. Wow.
Sara's breath hitched in her throat when she saw Lena in front of her. Her hair down, in a bright red dress with gold accents, matching jewelry, and gold pumps. She tried to collect herself when her eyes got caught on the skin exposed on the chest before her. The neckline of the dress stopped right between her breasts and-oh the skin was turning almost as red as the dress which pulled Sara out of her trance.
"Too much? I knew I was overdoing it! I-"
"Shhh no, no. It's perfect. You're perfect."
When Lena started blushing again Sara just smiled to herself.
"Hi, by the way!" Sara said.
"Oh! Yes, um..um-h-h-hello!"
They burst out laughing and Sara grabbed Lena's arm and closed the door behind her.
"So, what kind of food does this restaurant have? I am starved!" Sara laughs.
