MafiaTale: Family Means
Ch.7~ Trouble Brewing
I sat in the clubhouse, smoking a cigar as I played cards with Asgore and Grillby. It'd been a while since we all played cards, and things settled enough for us to do it again. Yashi was working tonight anyway, the bar was getting new inventory. Perfect timing really.
"I fold," Asgore stated, Grillby turned to me.
"And you." Grillby hummed, I chuckled.
"I'm in," I replied, we both laid out our hands.
He had a full house, not bad, but I had a straight flush, my win. He grumbled puffing up smoke, Asgore chuckled. Grillby could be pretty competitive, but his flames gave him away. Well, most of the time, he can still pull a fast one now and then.
In the background, I heard a phone ring as Asgore dealt us our new hands. I began to look over my cards, trash hand, turning I saw Grillby flames rise. He must have a good one, Asgore let out a big-bellied chuckle. This was nice.
"Sans!" someone called.
"I'm folding," I stated and got up from my seat. "What ya want?"
"The phone." The bunny monster stated, holding up the receiver.
I walked over to him taking the phone, who could possibly be calling for me. Did Pap want something? Pulling out my cigar I blew a cloud of smoke before putting the receiver to my skull.
"This is Sans," I stated.
"I did get the number right, thank goodness," Yashi stated sounding relieved.
"Yashi? What's wrong?" I questioned worriedly.
"I'm gonna need you to get me, the bar got raided, I'm in the in the cooler." She explained.
"You got nailed?"
"Yeah, must have been a rat in the crew dropping off the goods. They threw me in here, took me a while to get them to give me a call. Think ya can swing me out?"
"Which can ya in?"
"The one off the docks."
"Alright, I'm on my way."
"Thanks love."
"Be there soon babe."
Hanging up I let out a sigh and rubbed out my cigar in the ashtray by the phone. If she's at the dock can, that means some dough slipped to the right guy should get her out. A bit more can probably get her out and off the record.
"Sans?" Asogre stated, I saw him rising from the table.
"Sorry, I gotta go handle something." I apologized.
"Is it your girl?" Grillby asked getting up too.
"Yeah, her work got busted, have to get her out of the can," I explained.
"I'll get you a car," Asgore stated and waved over an underling.
"Thanks," I said walking over to him.
"Not a problem, not often we lose a drum." He stated, I nodded.
"Got the cash?" Grillby quizzed, I nodded.
"Yeah, just need to pick it up," I assured, he nodded.
"We have the car all ready." Someone called, time to get her out.
(Yashi's POV)
"Sans!" I chimed and raced over to hug him.
"You alright babe?" he asked, I nodded and he put an arm around me. "Let's blow this joint."
As we headed out, I noticed an officer counting some bills, not even that many. Guess this guy was quite easy to buy out, I'll have to ask Sans how much it cost. We exited and I saw a car outside running, so he borrowed a car too.
"Sorry about this." I apologized, he turned and cupped my cheek.
"Ain't nothing to be sorry about, shit happens. You are alright, they didn't try to ruff you up?"
"I'm fine, I'm just glad to be out."
He opened the door for me and I smiled climbing, he shut the door and walked around to the driver's seat. He started the engine and we began to ride back. I felt bad that I disturbed his card night, not often he spent an evening with his friends. Maybe I should have called Zu, it's odd I didn't even think twice before calling him. Guess that was a part of this whole being in love thing.
"You're quiet." He stated, I shuffled closer to him.
"You can head back to your card night you know," I assured.
"I'm good, I'm sure Grillby and Asgore left by now."
"You three need to hang out more."
"Heh, I'm sure we'll plan another card night here soon."
"That's good."
We sat in silence the rest of the drive, we pulled into our lane and he turned off the car. I leaned over and kissed his cheekbone before we both got out of the car. Walking around the car he wrapped an arm around me and led us to the door. Unlocking the door, we headed in, he kicked off his shoes and I did the same.
"How about a drink?"
"That sounds good right about now but let me handle them. You make them too strong."
"Heh, ain't that the point."
"I prefer not to taste burning."
He chuckled as I pulled some gin from under the sink and then grabbed honey from the cupboard and lemon juice from the fridge. I began to make a double order of Bee's Knees. Adding ice to the shaker I gave it a good shake before grabbing two cups. Portioning it out I smiled, perfect. I put it all away and grabbed the cups and turned to Sans.
He took the offered drink and took a sip letting out a sigh, I smiled before taking my own sip. He loosened his tie and pulled it off, setting it on the counter. Setting his cup down he took off his coat and hung it on the back of a chair. I undid a few buttons on my work shirt.
"You look something else, even in your work clothes." Sans hummed, I smirked taking a sip of my drink. "Even better when you let some of them buttons loose."
"You just enjoying the view." I teased teasing the next button.
"Always enjoy the view when you're in it." He stated, I blushed, taking a sip of my drink. "You look so cute when ya blush."
"You'd think I didn't let you ravish me last night." I joked, he chuckled stepping closer.
"Can't get enough." He stated and leaned down kissing my neck.
"If we were both humans or monsters you'd have knocked me up by now with that eagerness." I hummed, his hands were on me in an instant and he began to suck on my neck. "Mhmm, disappointed."
"Just means I'll have to try twice as hard." He hummed pulling back. "After these drinks, I think I'm eager to put in some hard work."
"Oh you." I laughed.
(Later)
I cuddled up to Sans' side, he had not been kidding about putting in hard work. Also seems I've discovered something that gets him all riled up. He really wants to put a bun in my oven it seems. It was still a bit too early for that but as Toriel said. It wasn't easy for a human and monster to conceive.
I turned my head to see that he had fallen asleep, I smiled softly before pressing my cheek into his chest. Most would assume that as a skeleton monster he wouldn't be comfortable to cuddle with. But that couldn't be further from the truth, he was the perfect cuddle buddy. Which was good because I like to cuddle.
I could feel his chest rise and fall rhythmically as he slept, it was comforting. Still, I would need to call Zuk at some point and tell her about the bust. Not that she wasn't already aware, I'm sure she was, still I needed to give her details.
I heard the phone ring from downstairs, I slowly pulled away from Sans and grabbed my robe. I slipped it on as I headed down to the phone, must be Zuk. It was still rather early in the evening, especially for her. I picked up the receiver and sat in the chair next to it crossing my legs.
"Hello." I greeted.
"Yashi, how are you?" Zuk questioned.
"I'm fine, Sans got me out of the can. Sure ya heard about the bust."
"I did, fucking idiots took on a new crew member on their stop along the coast. Fucked up a good operation."
"So, it was a rat."
"Yep, when I find him, I'll send him off the pier to sleep with the fishes."
"Going to open a new joint?"
"After this, I'm thinking I may need to talk with Don Asgore and Grillby might be best we handle the imports of booze together."
"Odd for you to be so eager to seek help from others."
"Heh, we got a good thing with this alliance, besides wanna keep this relationship friendly considering."
"Angel's or me?"
"Both."
"Fair, so got any jobs for me until we get a new joint?"
"I'll see what I got, for now, lay low, don't need to give them a reason to throw ya back in the can."
"I will, but I ain't ready to be a housewife yet."
"He didn't propose already, did he?"
"Not yet, but he is getting a bit into the idea of knocking me up."
"Not likely."
"Nope, but I'll give him points for effort."
"Kinky. But you know, I'm kinda glad you found him. He's good to ya, and he knows the lifestyle. You need that."
"I think he does too."
"He better buy you a real good ring."
"If it's gaudy I blame you."
"Ha! Sure, I'll take the blame. Oh, Mitsuhide says hi. Sorry, guess I gotta go, got a disciplinary matter to attend to."
"Don't make your dry-cleaner hate you any more than she already does."
"No promises, night."
"Night."
I hung up and rose from the chair and headed quietly back up the stairs, they creaked a bit. Reaching the room, I peeked in and saw Sans was still sleeping. How that man can sleep like that with his line of work is amazing. I leaned against the doorframe and watched in a bit before heading back to the bed. Sitting on the edge I stretched my arms up, best to get some sleep too.
(Later)
"Eat slower." I chastised as Sans practically inhaled his pancakes with marmalade, coffee and toast.
"I'm supposed to be there at nine." He argued, I sighed as he continued his break-neck speed eating.
"It's only eight-thirty, and you have a car today." I reminded, but it didn't seem to deter him. "How in the world did you give Pap such good table manners?"
"Hey." He whined, I snickered. "You gonna stay home today?"
"Going to call Toriel and see if she wants to go for coffee."
"Oh, glad you two get along."
"How could someone not get along with Toriel, she's a doll."
"Heh, you got that right."
"Will you be home for dinner?"
"Hopefully, call me after lunch and I'll know for sure."
"Call the clubhouse?"
"Yep, should be there around then and if not, I'll leave a message with someone for ya."
"Will do, also you got marmalade on your collar."
I snickered as he grabbed a napkin rubbing off the marmalade with vigour. It wasn't often he was in a rush for work but every time has been entertaining to watch. Reminds me of how goofy he can be. He rose and grabbed his plates placing them in the sink. He began to roll up his sleeves, still a gentleman.
"I'll wash them." I insisted, he smiled at me.
"Thanks love." He thanked me, walking over he kissed my cheek. "I should head out, need to return the car."
"Just toss the keys at the first newbie you see," I suggested, he let out a chuckle.
"I just may." He hummed pulling on his jacket. "See ya later lovely."
"Sure thing, handsome."
He blew me a kiss before heading out, soon I heard an engine start and the sounds of him driving off. I picked up my mug and took a long sip of my coffee. First, I'll do the dishes, then clean up a bit, still a bit early to call Toriel. What should I wear, maybe that new dress I bought?
(Later)
"Tori!" I called, she smiled as I raced over to meet her.
"Yashi, you're wearing such a nice outfit." She greeted, I smiled.
"Thanks, it's a new dress," I replied, she smiled. "Frisk at school?"
"They are, no work today?" she asked.
"Closed for a bit, rat problem," I stated, she nodded.
"I'll take you to my favourite café, they have some good pies." She offered, I nodded.
"Sounds great," I stated, we began to walk down the sidewalk. "How's the husband?"
"Busy, but he came home early last night from his card night, it was a nice treat. We had some wine together." She answered, I smiled.
"Sounds nice."
"How are things with your man?"
"Good. Real good. My sister started teasing me about when we'll get engaged."
"If I know my husband, he'd be encouraging him there."
I stopped as I felt someone staring, turning I saw a man in a slouch hat and suit following us. I turned to Toriel who looked confused, I needed to play this cool. I hook my arm with hers and began to pull her down the sidewalk. It must be an angels goon, while I know I can take them I wasn't keen on fighting in the middle of downtown.
"Tori let's go in here, I want to show you something." I urged, dragging Tori into a small boutique.
"Something wrong?" she asked as we entered.
"We're being tailed," I stated, she turned to look outside. "Don't look, sorry to bother you but can we use the back door."
The shop owner nodded, and I smiled dragging Tori toward the back door. It took us into the alley and I pulled her down the alley and we came out by a diner. That won't fool him for long, I pulled her down the sidewalk back to where we started. I could feel her tremble, I patted her arm soothingly.
"Yashi, should I call for a car?" she asked, I shook my head.
"No, that would take too much time, don't worry I'll get us someplace safe," I assured her, she nodded.
I scanned around until I spotted the place I'd been looking for. It looked like a normal hair salon but it was actually a clubhouse of my Reapers. I pulled her across the road and walked into the salon, the stylist looked to me nodding. I nodded back and led Tori into the back of the salon then down into the basement.
"Y-yashi!" one of the boys exclaimed as I entered the clubhouse.
"I need someone to guard my friend and another to come with me," I ordered, they nodded and Connor came out of a back room.
"Yashi, something happen, wait isn't that." He began.
"Connor you're with me, someone give my friend a phone, Tori call for a ride and someone escort her to the car when it arrives," I ordered.
"Are you going to be alright?" Tori asked, I smiled at her.
"I'll be fine, I can handle this, but you get back home and tell Asgore about this," I assured, she nodded and Connor approached with two handguns.
"What's going on?" he asked as we headed up the stairs.
"Someone was tailing me and Tori, and I am not letting them get away," I explained, he nodded and passed me a gun.
We entered the salon and raced out the front door, I lead him down the street. I finally spotted the goon who had been following us. Perfect he followed my path out the back of the boutique and alley but lost us. His gaze turned to us and he seemed to realize what was coming. He pulled out a pistol but Connor shot his hand making the pistol fall.
Rushing forward I pulled my own gun and pointed at the man's head. He looked up at me in shock. Seems he didn't know who I was, so this had been about Tori. He steeled himself and tried to lunge at me but I quickly aimed down and shot his kneecap. He fell to the ground and I stomped on his chest.
"You're going to tell me who you work for or I'm gonna make you regret you were ever born," I ordered.
"Like I'd tell you anything bimbo!" he screamed, I got off him and shot his crotch which made him let out a blood-curdling scream.
I reached down and tugged his shirt up, yep, he was an angel that tattoo was unmistakable. He was too loud, I huffed and turned to Connor handing him my gun. I needed to get to Sans or Asgore.
"Connor, take out the trash," I stated, he nodded and I strode down the streets.
I headed for the closest spot I knew I could get into contact with Sans and Asgore. The pub was closed, but I knew for a fact that the owner would be in. I headed to the back door and knock on the door loudly. I heard shuffling and a tired flame monster answered the door.
"Yashi?" he questioned.
"I need to get a hold of Sans and Asgore, Angels made a move," I explained, he seemed to wake up more and pulled me in.
"Angels, you sure?" he asked as he led me through the backroom.
"Saw the tattoo on the goon myself," I answered, he led me to an office and dialled on a phone.
"Hello, put Asgore on." He ordered; his flames were rising. "Asgore, bring Sans and come to my place."
He hung up and turned to me grabbing a tie from his desk, he tied it trying to regain control of his flames. He pulled something a bottle from a cabinet then a glass and poured himself a full cup and shot it down.
"So, what happened?" he questioned.
"Was going out to a café with Tori but I noticed we were being followed. I was able to shake them and take Tori someplace safe to call for a ride. I went back to confront him and took him down learning he was either after Tori or perhaps he just didn't know who I was. Either way, I was able to confirm they had a Angel's tattoo. So, I came here, it's the closest spot that I knew I could get into contact with Sans or Asgore." I explained, he ran a hand over his face.
"Sans wasn't kidding when he said you had experience in this life. By the way, you have blood on your dress." He informed, I glanced down to see bloodstain at the bottom of my dress.
"And I just bought this," I grumbled, he chuckled at that.
"You're quite the lady."
