CHAPTER FIVE, PT. 2
Hunter
POV Gray
Levy walked up to him and started cleaning his face with a wet towel -What an incredible amount of blood...-
-Well, his head exploded right in front of my face-
-It didn't bite you, right?-
-No-
-That's good- She continued by cleaning his arms. Gray took off his shirt and Levy started checking his blood pressure and took some blood for analysis. She then checked his eyes and mouth just to make sure he was fine and then gave him some vitamins. -That would be all. Your friend didn't get to touch that thing, right?-
-No, she didn't-
-Then there's nothing to worry about- Gray put his shirt back on and thanked Levy before going out. His shirt was ruined with blood, but it was better than being bitten. Gray walked out from the nursery and found Juvia, Lyon, Natsu and Lucy waiting for him outside. His step-brother walked up to him and hugged him tight.
-I'm glad you're safe, Gray- He returned the hug -That must have been pretty scary. Juvia told us what happened-
-Guess I was lucky to have her there to shoot- she sweetly smiled after hearing this, but Lyon frowned.
-We should get going back to the building and sleep. Tomorrow we should get up early for training- Natsu said. When they arrived, they found Erza waiting outside of Gray's room. Everyone said goodbye and went to their respective rooms. Juvia waited for some seconds and then went, leaving Gray alone with the red-haired girl.
-Erza, what happened?-
-I came to thankyou for taking care of the dead one. You saved all of us today-
-There is no need for that. The issue now is how that thing got inside-
-We may have actually found out how-
-...-
Erza looked serious -The person who became a dead one had a heart condition. He may have had a heart attack when he started to become one-
-That means--
-That means we are all infected. No matter how you die-
-Oh shit...-
-Yeah... From now one we should make medical checkups more often and... get rid of the ones sick before they end up killing us-
-You can't kill living people even if they are sick-
-We don't have any other option and I didn't come to discuss that with you-
-But..!-
-Good night, Gray-
Gray saw her start walking and with an impulse called her back -Erza-
-Hm?-
-May I ask you a favor?- she kept looking at him wating for his question -I know you put Juvia in the Scavenger team-
-Who? Ah, the pretty girl with blue hair... What do you want? Because I won't be changing her work. Everyone should run risks in order to--
-Let me go with her-
-Hm?- She turned around to face him -What do you mean?-
-I want to go with her when she has a mission. I want to be able to protect her-
-And why is that? Do you lo--
-Can I?- Erza briefly laughed and turned around to leave.
-I'll think about it- and with that said, she left Gray standing alone in the hallway.
-...-
Days passed and everything seemed to be going alright inside the walls. People were gardening and cultivating, others were practicing their shooting skills. Natsu and Gray were running around the camp along with the other hunters.
After running for ten minutes, they all alligned in front of Gildarts who was waiting to make an announcement -Well done everybody! Now pay attention because our Scavenger team is going on their first mission so they'll present theirselves-
A group of people wearing black leggins, black shirts and carrying backpacks came out from one of the buildings -Mirajane Strauss. Leader of the Scavanger division, nice to meet you all- members from the hunter division started murmuring about how pretty she was. Her long white hair and blue eyes were captivating. Another young woman came forward. She had dark brown hair and brown eyes.
-Nice meeting you all. I'm Cana Alberona-
-Cana~!- Gildarts cheered for her.
-Shut up dad... you're making me embarrassed...-
-Ehhh.?! Gildarts has a daughter?!- Natsu asked with surprise.
-Juvia Loxar. Nice to meet you all- She presented herself. Gray and Lyon kept their sight on her. She looked so confident and captivating. She had her hair straightened which made it seem longer. Lyon slightly blushed.
-So pretty...- Gray heared those words and silently stared at him with an annoyed face expression.
When the rest of the Scavenger division finished presenting themselves, Gildarts started talking -Alright Hunters. I know your first mission will be next week, but today Erza told me to make you all go on a practice mission- he held out a paper and showed it with excitement -Here I have a paper with groups arrangements. I'll pair one hunter and one scavenger to go together. The hunter's job is to protect the scavenger from any danger while he or she looks out for things to collect-
-Groups of two?- Lyon repeated.
-I hope I don't get paired up with a girl or Lucy will get jealous...- Natsu said.
-...- Gray and Juvia's eyes met, but they quickly avoided each other's gaze with shyness.
-When I call your names go and stand next to your partner- Gildarts started mentioning their names and the groups started to being formed -... team 13, Natsu and Elfman-
-Elfman?- Natsu laughed -What kind of name is that?!- he couldn't control himself. Suddenly a taller and bigger guy walked up to him.
-The name of a manly man, you small piece of--
-Next team! Team 14, Lyon and Sherry- A young woman with long pink hair walked up to him.
-No... Juvia...- he called her while almost crying.
-Next team, Gray and Juvia-
-No...- Lyon cried. Juvia walked up to Gray and waved her hand at him.
-You changed your hair?-
-Well. I can't use my curler anymore since there's no electricity so from now on I guess you'll see me with straight hair-
-It looks pretty- she blushed.
-Those will be all of the teams. You'll be provided with guns and a map before you go out. Make sure to come alive and without any bite... or you know what will happen...-
-Yes!- they all replied in unison.
-You can go- All of the teams made their ways to the main gate and received their gun and a map indicating a place in which there could be usefull things.
-Ready?- Gray asked her and she replied with a confident nodd.
Every group made their way outside the walls being cautious and fast.
