*1 month later*
Sun rays shined brightly, peaking through the blinds.
Slowly waking up Bailey realized she had a pair of small arms around her and a weight on her chest. Opening her eyes, she realized that weight was Chloe. She small six-year-old got 'scared' last night and wanted to sleep with Bailey, obviously she couldn't turn the girl down. So, Chloe climbed in with Bailey for the night sleeping soundly hugging her tight.
Careful not to wake the sleeping blonde Bailey got up, dressed, and went downstairs to make breakfast.
While she was frying the eggs, Beau came downstairs and started helping.
"So, when are we surprising them?" Beau asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
"When they're all down, dressed and had breakfast" Bailey replied smiling.
"Okie Dokie"
Soon breakfast was ready, and the boys were already eating at the table.
"Boys, where's the girls at?" Beau asked chewing on his egg n' bacon muffin.
"I dunno, I think Cassidy still sleeping" Dylan replied with nods from the elder two.
"Chloe's probably still in my bed, I'll go wake them." Bailey said getting off of her chair.
"I'll help Bailey" Beau replied getting up.
"It's okay, I can do it" Bailey replied calling out from the stairs.
"Knock, Knock" Bailey called out gently from her bedroom door. Peeping her head through she saw the little Chloe sleeping soundly in the mess of blankets.
"Chloe, honey? It's time to get up sweety" Bailey said while rubbing circles on Chloe's back, slowly waking her up.
"Mmh, Bailey?" Chloe murmured just opening her eyes.
"Hey, sweetie, can you wake up for me honey? We have to get dressed there's a surprise waiting for you downstairs" Bailey whispered.
"Is it a toy!?" Chloe asked waking up more.
"You'll have to find out" Bailey replied picking up the blonde and carrying her to her bedroom to get changed.
"What do you wanna wear honey?" Bailey asked setting Chloe down and going through her wardrobe.
"Can I wear this, and that, with these?" Chloe said picking her outfit.
"Sure"
"Do you want help or are you good?" Bailey asked.
"I'm good" Chloe reassured already unbuttoning her pink blouse she chose out.
"Okay, well I'm just gonna check on your sister then I'll be right back, okay?"
"Okay Bailey"
Closing the door Bailey walked down the corridor knocking on Cassidy's door.
"Cassidy, you up yet? Can I come in honey?" Bailey called hearing a mumbled yes from inside.
Inside Cassidy was just getting up, eye's crumpled and definitely a case of bed hair. But she was up and getting ready, safe and sound.
"Okay, do you need help with anything?" Bailey asked from the doorway.
"I'm good, thanks Bailey" Cassidy smiled.
"Okay, call out if you need me, I'm just helping Chloe in her room" Bailey explained before leaving the nine-year old to get ready.
Returning to Chloe's room Bailey saw that she was now dressed in her pink plad blouse, denim jeans and brown cowboy boots.
Bailey went over and help Chloe with her hair before they left her room and Chloe raced down for breakfast.
Before leaving Bailey went to check on Cassidy before going down herself.
Hearing grumbles coming from the bedroom Bailey popped her head round seeing Cassidy struggling with brushing her hair.
"Do you need help honey? Bailey asked now stepping into the room.
Looking at Bailey with tears forming in her eyes Cassidy nodded her head.
"Come here" Bailey said gently sitting down on the girls bed, grabbing a brush and some bands.
Cassidy sat down on the edge of the bed, feeling the brush strokes of Bailey brushing her hair. Then the gentle feeling of her finger gliding through her hair as she braided the top half of it, tying it off with a hairband then doing the same on the other side.
"Thanks Bailey" Cassidy said looking at her nanny smiling.
"Your welcome honey" Bailey said before being engulfed by a sudden hug.
"hey, sorry, am I interrupting something?" Beau said from the doorway.
"No, we were just leaving." Cassidy said to her dad.
"Good, well breakfast is getting cold so"
"We'll be down in a minute" Bailey replied getting off the bed with Cassidy at her side.
After breakfast was demolished and the dished thrown in the machine and sink, Bailey decided to finally say what their surprise was, much to an impatient Chloe's delight.
"Well," Bailey started, grabbing her handbag
"Rocky got us all tickets to this weekend's country fair" Bailey said pulling out the seven tickets.
"YESS!" Tuck and Brody said
"yay! I can win so many toys!" Chloe said leaning over the table.
"All my friends are gonna be so jealous" Dylan smiled.
"Thanks Bailey, I can't wait to tell Lilly, she's going too, it's gonna be so fun!" Cassidy said hugging Bailey.
"Oh honey, don't thank me thank Rocky" Bailey replied.
"Whoa, it's so big" Chloe gasped her head pushed against the window of the truck.
"Yeah, we'll have plenty to do" Bailey agreed turning the truck into the car park next to Beau's truck. Since they decided that girls would take one truck and the boys would take the other, leaving room for whatever they might bring back.
Hoping out of the truck the group gave their tickets to the booth, finally entering the carnival.
"Look there's Lilly and her mom, can I go with them daddy?" Cassidy asked.
"Sure honey, call me if u need me, and stay close" Beau replied.
"I will" Cassidy yelled back running off with Lilly and her mom.
"We're gonna go off too daddy, me and Tuck are gonna find some nice girls" Brody explained his voice giddy with excitement.
"Okay, but stay together, and don't kill each other" Beau agreed as their group got even smaller.
"Hey daddy?" Dylan greeted.
"Who do you wanna go with?" Beau already knowing what Dylan was asking.
"Ryan, a mate from school" Dylan answered, blushing a little, not going unnoticed by Bailey.
"Stay close" Beau said giving Dylan consent to leave with his mate, waiting by the popcorn stand.
"Can we go on rides now?" Chloe piped, now it was just the three of them.
"Sure honey, which one do you want to go on first?"
"Hmm, that one" Chloe said pointing to a ride, it looked like a carasel, With hanging baskets, with seats in them, spinning in a circle going up and down quite fast.
"Are you sure Chloe?" Beau asked.
"Please daddy, please?" Chloe begged with both the adults caving, they went and paid lined up, waiting their turn.
"Okay next!" The man on the ride yelled, the locks unclicked, people got off as the people waiting got on.
"This one!" Chloe said pointing to a blue carriage.
"Okay" Beau said as Bailey lifter Chloe into her seat getting in after, with Beau following. Chloe in the middle with Bailey and Beau on each side.
The bar came down over their legs locking itself into place as the ride started.
They soon started moving in a clockwise rotation, slowly at the start, getting faster and faster and faster.
Chloe held her breath at one point cuddling herself into Bailey, not wanting to admit she was afraid though she forced a smile on her face.
Hugging her back Bailey could tell Chloe was scarred just based on how tense she was.
"Hold on to the bar honey, and look out, try spot your brothers or Cas" Bailey whispered to Chloe getting her to relax more as they went up almost on a horizontal angle.
"I can see them!" Chloe shouted, her fear melting away as a smile broke across her face.
'Thank you' Beau mouthed to Bailey.
'All good' She mouthed back as Chloe started squealing in delight.
After the ride was over the three decided to get some food and try some other games.
*With Tuck and Brody*
"Okay call me tonight" Tuck whistled goodbye to another girl before turning to Brody.
"Are you done yet?" Brody asked his voice bland and monotone.
"Chill bro, you'll find someone" Tuck reassured Brody with his smile and a slap on the back.
"Look there's Jo go talk to her" Tuck said shoving Brody to Jo before he could object.
"Hey Brody" Jo smiled.
"H-Hey Jo, how you been?" Brody answered scratching the back of his head.
"good, you?" She answered just as awkwardly.
"Yeah, who did you come with?" Brody said changing the topic.
"Oh, I came by myself" Jo chuckled
"Ohh, right. Well, I came with Tuck you can join if you want, if it's not too awkward after the whole you and Tuck thing" Brody offered.
"Um well- "
"Hey, bro, Hey Jo" Tuck interrupted walking over to Brody.
"Hey Tuck" Jo said not liking how awkward the situation was getting.
"Well, I'm going to go off with Rachel, but you too have fun" Tuck said quickly leaving the two lovers.
"Daddy said we weren't supposed to leave each together" Brody angerly whispered.
"It's fine I'll call you where we'll meet up" Tuck whispered back before walking off with the blonde teen.
"Okay well he's gone" Brody said turning back round to Jo
"Yeah…" Jo said as the two got silent.
"You hungry we could get something to eat" Brody said breaking the silence.
"Sure" Jo quickly agreed as the two went to get corndogs.
As they sat down Jo decided to get to the real reason she came to this carnival.
"So, Brody, um Tuck told me something at the music competition" Jo started.
"Ohh yeah that" Brody said blushing profusely.
"Well, I didn't come alone today just for the carnival" Jo explained.
"You didn't?" Brody said raising an eyebrow.
"No, I came- I came to tell you that I like you too Brody" Jo said smiling as her cheeks flashed pink.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry it took so long, it's just I never thought you did, and I thought I was ugly and then I started to like Tuck and- "Jo rambled but got cut off as a pair of lips had connected with hers.
"I like you too Jo" Brody said after breaking the kiss.
"I know" Jo said laughing.
"So does this mean were dating?" Brody asked.
"Yeah, if you want to" Jo replied.
"Never been so sure" Brody replied as the too, got up and walked hand in hand around the carnival. Happier than they've ever been. (A/N: I'm sorry this is so cringe it'll get better… hopefully)
*With Cassidy and Lilly*
"Mum. Can we do the haunted house next please? Lilly and Cas asked her mum.
"Sure honey, here you go, give it to the man in booth over there" Lilly's mum agreed giving them money for the ride, just as her phone went off.
The two girls quickly ran to the booth giving the man his money and entering the haunted house.
Walking through the start the girls didn't feel very scared, after all they knew it was just special effects, but they still loved the ride.
"So, how's it going with Bailey?" Lilly asked as they walked past a skeleton.
"Good, she's great, she helped me with my hair today; it was being a pain" Cassidy answered.
"That's cool, she's great at doing hair, you and Chloe always look so nice when she does it." Lilly answered.
"What about the thing with Summer and your dad?" Lilly asked again.
"Honestly, I don't know, he's gotten over her quickly, thank god. I'm just glad she's not around anymore" Cas said. "I know it's mean but she just annoyed me"
"Same, and I was only at your house for a couple hours every few days" Lilly agreed.
"Have you and your siblings come up with any more date's or plan's to see if Bailey and your dad like each other?" Lilly asked curious.
"No, but we're all pretty sure they like each other, just that they don't want to admit it" Cassidy explained.
"Oh, they definitely like each other, even my mum said so. She thinks it's cool how you guys were making plans on getting them together" Lilly laughed.
"Yeah" Cas agreed.
"Do you want them to be together?" Lilly asked, knowing that the topic might be touchy with her best friend.
"I mean if anyone was to be with my dad, I would want it to be Bailey. She's not my mama, but she's almost as good" Cassidy said truthfully.
"And to think you hated her, twice" Lilly laughed with Cassidy joining in.
"So, how's your grandpa going?" Cassidy asked as they went down a slide, with fake bat noises coming from speakers.
"Good I think, he was in the hospital yesterday. The doctors are saying he doesn't have much time left though." Lilly said her eyes getting watery.
Cassidy got up from the slide and hugged her best friend, after all two years ago Lilly was doing this to her.
"At least he's comfortable, around his family and what not, so it's the best death we can ask for." Lilly said trying to look on a brighter side.
"yeah" Cassidy nodded in agreement.
"do you remember the first time we did this haunted house, and Lucas almost wet his pants in fear" Cassidy said changing the topic.
"OMG, yes, we were only six, but it was hilarious." Lilly laughed at the memory.
Flashback
"Mama can we please go in the haunted house, please!" Little Cassidy begged her mum, with Lilly and Lucas behind her giving the same face.
"are you sure you won't get too scared?" the Aruban haired woman asked her six-year-old daughter.
"Yes, we're not scaredy cats" Cass argued.
"okay, but the three of you stick together, okay?" Her mum agreed.
"We will" they shouted back running into the haunted house while her mother paid.
"This isn't creepy- ARRGHH" Lilly screamed as a fake skeleton popped out from the wall. Her two best friends laughing behind her.
"Shut up" Lilly said blushing as the three of them raced through the hallway.
By the halfway point both Cassidy and Lilly had screamed with Lucas gloating how he was never scarred.
Lucas was walking ahead flipping his blonde curly hair out of his face, unknowingly we walked into a tripwire sending a fake ghost decoration falling from the ceiling, scaring the poor boy to bits.
"AARRGGGHH!" Lucas screamed as he ran straight through the rest of the house out into the dirt where the mums were waiting.
"Lucas, Wait, it was just a fake ghost" Cassidy and Lilly shouted through their laughter, running after their friend.
End of Flashback
"OMG I totally forgot about that" Lilly said as they reached the end of the ride walking out to where her mother was waiting, though it took her by shock when she saw her mum.
Both girls ran to Lilly's mum Caroline, tears were streaming down her face as she held the phone close to her chest.
"Mum what happened? What's wrong?" Lilly asked her hands shaking a little seeing her mother so distraught.
"Lilly, we have to go to the hospital, I've already called Bailey and they're on their way to pick up Cas but honey it's about Grandpa" Caroline said through her tears, as she finished her sentence Lilly hugged her mum tight, as she too started crying.
Cassidy could see Bailey waiting in the near distance, obviously not wanting to interrupt anything.
"Thanks Caroline, see ya Lilly" Cassidy said as she hugged them goodbye, and booth went opposite ways.
"I'll call you tonight" Lilly shouted out to Cassidy before turning and jogging to the car park with her mum.
Cassidy ran to Bailey engulfing her in a hug, before breaking out in tears, worried about her best friend.
"SShh, Honey. It'll be okay. I'm sure everything will be fine" Bailey said brushing Cassidy's hair with her fingers, while continuing to say soothing things to the red head.
"I'm glad you're here Bailey" Cassidy said after a while, her tears stopped and after a while the both of them started to walk to Chloe and her dad. Still worried for her best friend Cassidy promised that she would still try and enjoy herself. After all she didn't want to ruin any more fun.
*Hours later*
It was now night, the stars and the moon lighting up the dark still night. Sun long gone and an inpatient crowd of Americans waiting for the fireworks to go off, signaling the end of the carnival for the day.
Beau, Bailey, Cas, Chloe, Tuck, Brody and Jo were all standing together. While Dylan and his best friend Ryan were sitting on the edge of the fence, sharing popcorn as they waited for the fireworks to begin.
"POP" "CRACK" "BOOM"
One by one the fireworks started, different colours, shapes, heights, and pictures lit up the sky.
Chloe had her hands and Bailey's hands covering her ears, the sounds didn't frighten the girl, but they sure were loud.
After ten or so minutes the fireworks ended. The Haywood's started walking to the car park, Ryan said goodbye to Dylan promising to meet up again soon and the seven of them drove home.
On the drive home Chloe had fallen asleep. The poor girl was so exhausted from the day. Cassidy opened her door and helped her dad unlock the house door, while Bailey carried a sleeping Chloe inside.
"Okay y'all lets all get ready for bed, but before thank Bailey for the surprise" Beau said when they were all inside.
"After all, if she didn't win that competition none of this would have happened."
"Thanks Bailey" They all said in unison, Cassidy hugging her nanny gently, careful not to wake Chloe.
"Don't thank me y'all, thank Rocky" Bailey said smiling.
After putting Chloe to sleep in her bed, Bailey went to check on everyone.
Tuck was already asleep, Brody had shared the news of him and Jo, saying he would tell everyone tomorrow at Church, Dylan was putting the photos from his camera roll today up on his walls. Bailey saying if he needed to talk to someone she was here, not forgetting his blushing from this morning.
And now on to Cassidy. She knew it hadn't been the easiest of days for the nine-year-old.
"Knock, Knock" Bailey said at the doorway.
"Can I come in?" Bailey asked, Cassidy nodded in agreement.
The red head was already laying down in bed, she was going to put her mums recording on when she stopped.
"Bailey, could you sing me a song?" Cassidy asked looking up and the woman.
"Of course, what song?" Bailey asked a little surprised on why, though she didn't question her.
"I need you, by LeAnn Rimes" Cassidy asked.
"Sure" Bailey answered grabbing a guitar.
"Can you use mama's guitar?" Cas asked from her bed.
"Bailey nodded grabbing the guitar carefully. She sat down on the end of the bed and started to sing.
"I don't need a lot of things; I can get by with nothing"
"this is all the blessing I can bring; I've always needed something"
"Baby I've got all I want"
"When it comes to loving you"
"You're my only reason"
"you're my only truth"
"I need you like water like breath like rain"
"I need you like mercy from heavens gates"
"there's a freedom in many of your problems"
"Carries me through"
"I need you~"
Bailey continued to sing the entire song, by the end Cassidy had fallen asleep soundly. Bailey put away the guitar, kissed Cassidy goodnight all before leaving the room.
On her way to her own room Beau bumped into her.
"Thanks for today Bailey" Beau said
"It's alright, after all Rocky was the one who got the tickets." Bailey stated
"Yeah, but you. You have a way with the kids. They love you; I love you" Beau said unaware of the words leaving his mouth, just the emotions he was feeling.
"i-I mean" Beau stuttered realizing what he just said.
"I love them too, and you" Bailey said blushing.
"I- well goodnight" Beau said.
"Goodnight Beau" Bailey replied before going into her bedroom.
Closing the door, Bailey felt that butterfly feeling leave her stomach and the tiredness wash over her.
She would love to just crawl into bed and sleep. But she had work to do. See rocky didn't just give the tickets to the carnival just because he wanted to. They were a bribe in a way. He wants Bailey to come up with a new all original album by the start of the January next year. Leaving only three months to come up with an entire album all by herself. (A/N: Halloween's in two weeks for them)
Stress started to consume Bailey. She didn't want to say anything to anyone yet. Besides, she was a singer this is what she was supposed to do. She doesn't need help. She shouldn't need help.
So, opening her laptop and a black word document Bailey started to get to work, careful to be quite and wake anyone up, or raise suspicion.
'This was going to be a long night' Bailey thought to herself.
