Hello there! I'm going to just start by saying that I'm going to resolve to post at least once a month for a little while. I've been very busy this summer and on top of that, I've been having some awful writer's block. Anyway, with that out of the way, welcome back to this Interlude thing I'm doing now!

References and Easter Eggs!:

Chapter Six:

The chapter title is, specifically, a reference to the Adventure Time episode "It Came From the Nightosphere," the first episode of the show I watched on release (which, in and of itself, is a reference to old monster movies).
Nova's new outfit is based on the Breakneck Series Sets from the games.
I fully admit I based the Fusion Blossom fight on the Fusion Boomer fight from It Calls For You, another FusionFall fanfic you should totally go read if you haven't already! I knew that Nova's first Nano was going to be Blossom from the planning stages years before the release of this story, and seeing that Alice's powers really get to be shown off during the Fusion Boomer fight got the gears spinning, and I decided to have Nova's powers manifest in much the same way.
The appearance of the alternate dimension that Nova visits is based on the in-game de-bug area known colloquially as "The Unknown."

Chapter Seven:

The chapter title is referencing the mission line from the game of the same name.
The Candy Pirate vessel, "The Jolly Roger," is a double reference to the alternate name of the pirate flag and my personal favourite candy, Jolly Ranchers!
Chocolate Charlie's name is based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I know. I'm so creative. Thank you.
Fusion Numbuh Five repeating phrases is a little theory I and some folks in the Worlds Collide Discord server developed and implemented into this story, whereby Fusions don't speak in any discernable language unless they hear another thing speak, and then they can repeat things they've heard, but only things they've heard. This explains why Fusion Finn in the Academy only repeats one phrase over and over again

Chapter Eight:

The chapter title is the obligatory "The Time is Now, the Hero is You" reference.
I'm gonna talk more about Nova here in just a second, but this is definitely the first real chapter for Nova's powers.

Chapter Nine:

The chapter title is a reference to the Steven Universe episode of the same name.
The capsule that Nano Blossom appears in is based on the capsules that code Nanos are given in.
I'm gonna admit it right now, Scoutmaster Lumpus and Slinkman's cameos were completely in the moment, it has been a minute since I watched Camp Lazlo, so everything about what I incorporated is also off-the-cuff.
There are a few different versions of copyright-free YouTube parodies in the CNU. I decided to go with TubeTube, from Steven Universe, mostly because it's the most memorable to me.
I mentioned it already, but Fusion Dexter and Fusion Steven are based on designs made by other folks. For more info, head on back to the author's note at the end of the Chapter!

Chapter Ten:

Not much to talk about here. I'll say that Ammolite is a sort of OC. She is sort of an amalgam of all the other Bismuth/Pearl Fusions that exist out there, so credit to all of those.

Let's talk about Nova von Zon!:

Alright, so, Nova von Zon has been an OC of mine since the Retro days. She is named after my Retro character, who eventually became the main character of a story I was developing titled Nova 1001. Plans for that story fell through, but Nova's time powers came from that. I debated whether Nova was going to be Numbuh 1001 or just some random string of numbers but eventually decided that 1001 was going to be Nova's Timewalker Number, and 790,000.1 (from a very old internet alias I used to use) would be Nova's Operative Numbuh. So, so, so many elements of Nova 1001 will be in this story, from the Timewalker's Association to Nova's powers to so many other elements that are big spoilers at the moment.

More arts!:

So, as I'm sure you've noticed, we have cover art now! It's based on old worker's rights propaganda posters from the 1900s, with Planet Fuse in the background as a purple hand, representing Dexter's gloved hand, and a black hand with an orange outline, representing Father. Each letter of "Unity"'s colour scheme is representative of one of the teams that join the alliance over the course of the story! The "U" is red and yellow, specifically the red and yellow from the Codename: Kids Next Door logo; the "N" is two different shades of purple, specifically from the outfits of the Monkey Minions; the "I" is green and grey, representing the Plumbers; the "T" is yellow and blue, representing the Urban Rangers; and the "Y" is gold and pink, representing the Crystal Gems.

While Unity is on hiatus, I'm going to be working on some more art. Art of Talmessite is going up on my DeviantArt account (BasicallySarah) later this week, and art for Charlie, Nova's new design, Ammolite, some redesigns of canon characters, and a map of the Foglands will be posted there whenever I get done with those.

Anyway, this is all I have, hope you enjoyed Chapter 10! I'll see you all in about a month!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I'm taking a break from Unity to work on other projects; my primary focus will be the project I've been the most passionate about for a while, "Falling Up," a post-apocalyptic dystopian story set in a massive skyscraper and focusing around a mailwoman. If you're interested in reading it, I'll probably post it to Wattpad or something when it's ready; I'll put a link to it here and in each of the FusionFall fan project Discord servers regardless of where it is. As always, thanks for reading! I'll be back to Unity at some point, I promise!
