Hearing the sound of sizzling from downstairs Beau, already dressed and ready makes his way down to the kitchen. There he sees Bailey cooking some morning sausages, though to be honest she doesn't look like it's her main focus.
"Bailey?" Beau says making the brunette jump.
"Oh, Beau, it's you sorry, morning" said Bailey recovering from her spoke.
Taking the now cooked sausages off the pan and onto a plate, Bailey feels her self-consciousness rise a little. She didn't look her best her hair probably wasn't sitting right, her clothes creased. Truth is that she spent way to long last night staying up trying to write a song, with little success.
"You sleep alright Bailey?" Beau asked creases appearing on his forehead.
"yeah, yea- just tired, that's all" Bailey answered.
"Well since you did it yesterday, I'm gonna go check on the kids make sure they're ready for church." Beau said getting up from the table.
"Oh, it's okay Beau- "Bailey went to say being cut off.
"Bailey just because you're the nanny doesn't mean you have to do everything. You said it yourself you're tired so please just stay down here and eat." Beau asked.
"But- "Bailey went to say.
"Please Bailey" With that Bailey accepted defeat, sitting down, and serving herself breakfast, she let Beau go upstairs check on the kids.
Being completely honest with herself Bailey was happy that Beau made her stay downstairs, as soon as he left those weird butterflies left her stomach and she was able to eat finally. She really hated herself for staying up so late with little success in writing a song.
Soon she could hear footsteps from behind her, Tuck, Brody, and Cassidy were all now downstairs dressed in their clothes for church.
"Morning Bailey" They said as they sat down at the table
"Morning y'all" Bailey said as Dylan, Chloe and Beau were now coming down the stairs for breakfast.
*At Church*
"So, Brody what's this surprise you wanted to tell us?" Beau asked as the seven of them walked into the living/ waiting part of the church.
"Um well, hold on. Jo!" Brody said seeing Jo in her purple sweater shirt and black denim skirt.
"Jo? What's Jo got to do with anything?" Chloe asked raising an eyebrow.
"Hey Brody, Hey y'all" Jo said getting a lot of 'hey's' and 'hi's' back.
"Well you all know how I liked Jo and the whole issue with her and Tuck and, well it turns out that she likes me so we're kind of dating" Brody explained meet with utter silenceā¦for about ten seconds.
Then came all the congrats, questions, hugs, and smiles from the family.
"Congrats bro" Tuck said slapping his brother on the back.
"Well, isn't this exciting news" Beau said looking at his son and his son's now-girlfriend.
"Okay, hate to be the bearer of bad news but we might wanna head into the actual part of the church, before they start without us" Dylan said.
"Right" Beau said as they all walked in and found their spots together.
Beau sat next to Bailey like he has done ever since Summer left, but this time he wanted to make sure she was okay.
He knew she wouldn't admit easily what was going on. He could see that she was severely tired, I think everyone could. But still she didn't look that tired when he said goodnight to her yesterday, and stupidly said he loved her. I mean of course he does but the way he just said it makes him cringe.
Maybe she just had a rough night trying to fall asleep, or did she spend the whole night wondering if his words were true.
I mean even Beau wasn't sure, he had met many great women in his life, his late wife, summer and now Bailey. But Bailey was different, she was the first women to make him feel properly happy after his wife's death. Summer made Beau smile, but Bailey made Beau happy, truly happy.
But did this mean he was in love with her.
"Beau?" Bailey said pulling the man from his internal battle.
"Yeah Bailey?" Beau asked realizing he must have been staring at her.
"You good?"
"Yeah, I'm fine" Beau said turning his attention back to the priest..
*After church*
The Haywood's arrived back at the ranch around 11:00am, they all went inside got changed out of their Sunday best and into more suitable clothes for being around the horses and went to do their mid-morning chores.
Beau and Bailey were in the kitchen cleaning up the dishes from breakfast, a comfortable yet routine silence fell over them.
"I can finish these dishes if you want to go up and rest Bailey? You look really tired." Beau said quietly breaking the silence.
"I'm fine Beau, honestly if I needed a break I would say." Bailey replied calmly, emptying the sink.
"DADDY! Daddy come quick!" Chloe yelled barging through the backdoor into the kitchen.
"What's wrong Chloe, show me what's wrong honey" Beau replied running out the kitchen with Chloe, Bailey following not far behind.
"It's My Girl, Dylan thinks there's something wrong" Chloe said running to the barn where all the kids were.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Chloe asked her voice quiet tears streaming down her face.
"Of course, she is sweetie, don't worry your dad will know what's going on" Bailey said picking up the blonde and consoling her.
"Tuck hand be the stethoscope" Beau ordered, Tuck obliging silently giving his father the metal instrument.
Beau put the stethoscope in his ears and held the other end up to My Girls stomach.
Relief poured through him; a smile erupted onto his face.
"It's alright, It's good news. But we'll need the vet to double check, Brody could you call the clinic" Beau said getting up off the hay and out of the stable.
Brody nodded and ran inside to use the home phone.
"See it's gonna be okay, My Girl's gonna be just fine" Bailey said to Chloe whipping away the tears still on her face.
"Hey honey, believe me nothings wrong with My Girl" Beau said walking over to his youngest. Chloe quickly leaned over letting her dad hold her instead of Bailey.
"The rest of you okay?" Bailey asked looking at Tuck, Dylan, and Cas. All of them giving nods and smiles both trying to reassure themselves and each other.
"She's on her way, about 20 minutes" Brody said running back from the house.
The vet came back from checking My Girl, closing the door behind her she gave them all a reassuring smile sitting down at the table.
"She's fine, in fact she's fantastic. It's all good" The vet said.
"Are you sure, you double checked guarantee nothings wrong with her" Tuck piped up, questioning the vet.
She chuckled back at the boys questions. "There's nothing wrong with pregnancy boy, My Girl's just expecting" She said with a smile.
"She is?" The boys said in unison all taken aback by the woman's words.
"That's right y'all" Beau said in agreement.
"Does that mean we're gonna have another pony daddy?" Chloe asked her eyes wide and a big smile across her face.
"It does Chloe" Cassidy answered for her.
The rest of the day the mood seemed to lighten with the knowledge that My Girl was expecting. All except for Bailey, after lunch everyone was lounging around, Dylan in his bedroom, Tuck outside, Brody at Jo's, Chloe and Beau in the lounge, and Cassidy on a video call with Lilly in her bedroom.
Bailey decided to go back up to her room and work on some songs, or at least try get one written.
Tiredness consumed Bailey, it had been all day, but she got a can of soda out of the fridge hoping that would give her the sugar high and energy she needed to finish a song.
Grabbing her guitar, her notebook filled with unfinished and ideas of songs , and opening her word document from last night Bailey tried to concentrate, about three hours later and nothing, nothing good, nothing usable, nothing. She couldn't do it, she couldn't write a song. A singer that can't write a song. Bailey felt hopeless in that moment.
Leaning her back against her bed Bailey felt her emotions rush over her, the stress, the feeling of not being good enough consumed her mind. Silent tears fell down her cheeks.
Bailey must have stayed there for a while because what felt like 10 seconds later was Beau knocking on her door, walking in he saw Bailey quickly wiping her tears, quickly trying to pick up her music sheets and guitar. But the act feel flat.
"Bailey what's wrong?" Beau asked her quickly walking over and helping her pick up her notes and laptop.
"It's nothing Beau" Bailey said her voice still fragile from her tears.
"Bailey you maybe an amazing singer, but your acting isn't fooling me" Beau said putting a hand on her shoulder.
But as soon as she did, she broke down again. Seeing her like this made Beau's heart shatter, he hadn't seen her like this since Boone left her at the competition. He had forgot the pain it caused him seeing her like this.
Pulling her into his lap he let Bailey cry it out, waiting a while until he asked why. Knowing it was hopeless trying to lie to Beau, Bailey explained why Rocky had given those tickets, why she was so tired and why she felt so stressed. It felt good getting it off her chest. But Bailey also felt guilty, this is what she signed up for and she's breaking down now, before it's all began.
"Bailey don't tear yourself down, you're the best signer I know, and there five other people in this house that would agree in a heartbeat." Beau said running his hand up and down her back trying to calm the hurting brunette.
"I can't write my own song, but I know that if I was going to, I'd need inspiration. Rocky would know that too. They'll come in time, please don't stress yourself out. Please, it does nothing good to anyone." Beau pleaded. Bailey nodded slowly appreciating his words.
"Thanks Beau" Bailey said looking up at the man she was so lucky to have met.
"Don't mention it, after all you latterly saved us, if you hadn't knocked on that door today, I don't think I would ever get my family back" Beau said, taking in the realization of how one single event can change someone's life.
The two of them didn't know how much time had passed from when they decided to get up off of the floor.
"Beau, can you not tell the kids about this, please?" Bailey asked. She really didn't want anyone to know the stress she was having, Beau already knowing already felt like a lot, she didn't need everyone in the house giving her sympathetic looks.
"Sure" Beau agreed understanding how upset the situation made Bailey, he knew that having everyone giving you sympathetic looks was hard, really hard.
The two of them made their way downstairs to start making dinner, it had been an hour later then they had planned but, a smile was back their faces and the mood lifted as the two of them cooked together.
They called the kids for dinner, all of them rushing down. Except Cassidy.
She came down slowly, cheeks red and puffy from tears, lip quivering, the poor girl was barely holding it together.
"Cassidy? Honey come here" Bailey said, the red head giving no fight and ran into her arms.
Cassidy had just come off of the video call with Lilly, her father had indeed passed away. Seeing the pain in her best friends eyes hurt her. She understood now how Lilly felt two years ago. When you can't take someone's pain away, it hurts you too.
Bailey didn't need Cassidy to tell her what happened, she already knew. It was easy to know. But seeing the girl she loved so much in pain broke her heart. More than Boone or her mother ever did.
After some coaxing from her family Cassidy ate about half of her dinner.
The seven of them then decided to spend the rest of the night watching movies and playing board games. In a way it was their way of being able to try keep themselves distracted from the day's events and just try and enjoy the time now.
By the end of the third movie, they had played all the board games in the house and they were all curled up on the multiple sofas and chairs, all of them were basically asleep.
Cassidy had curled up next to Bailey, who was curled up with Beau on one sofa. Chloe and Dylan were dead asleep on the ground under so many blankets and pillows, you could barely see them. With Tuck and Brody asleep on two different chairs.
I guess you could say that they were all tired from the number of surprises the day had brang them.
A/N: OMG! Two updates in one day, i hope this was a good enough chapter. It wasn't super amazing but hope guys still enjoyed. Pls R&R.
