Chapter 56

Down at the snyderfarm Jack was having breakfast when Molly came downstairs with Holden;" Good morning, Jack."

"Good morning." said he looking up;" Could you do something for me, Molly? I need your help with something."

"Sure." answered his friend curious;" What do you need?"

"I want to get something special for Carly to give to her for valentine's day, but I need your help with that." replied Jack;" Would you come with me to the store later today?"

"Ofcourse I will come with you." said she;" Is everything set for tomorrow?"

"Yes, everything is all set." answered her friend;" If only Janet would sign those papers and then everything would be perfect."

"She will have no choice in the end, Jack. There's no way that she can stop this divorce from happening in the end." reassured Holden his cousin;" Things will be okay again."

"I hope so." sighed he;" All I want is to be able to go home to Carly and my kids as a free man and finally be happy again."

Rosanna was about to leave when Lily showed up on Carly's doorstep;" Hi, do you have a second?"

"Ofcourse." answered Rosanna as she let her in;" How did it go lastnight?"

"Hard to say." replied her friend hesitating;" She was angry ofcourse and even tried to deny it at first, which was pointless ofcourse. But I made it pretty clear that there was no denying it and that if she didn't sign those papers that the whole town would find out, Rosanna."

"Do you think that she will sign those papers?" asked she worried;" I hope so because I don't know how much longer Carly can live with this situation. It's driving her crazy and if things don't change soon she will give up hope."

"I don't know. I hope she will listen and sign those papers, but I can't be sure of that." said Lily with a sigh;" I gave her until tonight and I really hope she will do the right thing."

"That woman and doing the right thing. She doesn't even know the meaning of that." answered her friend sarcasticly;" This isn't about her still wanting Jack. This is about her not wanting Carly to have Jack and be happy. That woman is just so damn selfish."

"I know." replied she;" If she really did still love Jack then she wouldn't have gotten involved with Dusty."

"Yes, i agree." began Rosanna when all of a sudden Carly came home;" Hey, I thought that you were on your way to the store."

"I was, but I forgot my purse." answered her sister with a suspicious look when there was a sudden silence;" Hey, Lily. What are you doing here? I didn't know that you were coming."

"That's because it was a last minute thing." said she quickly;" I came to see how you were doing and I wanted to ask Rosanna something."

"Lily was just in the neigbourhood and wanted to know if I was free to help her with a benefit-evening that she wants to plan for next month." replied Rosanna in the hope that Carly would believe them;" And ofcourse to see how you were doing."

"Just let me know what you decide." answered their friend as she turned around and walked out the door;" Bye."

"Why was Lily really here?" asked Carly not convinced by their story;" What is going on, Rosanna?"

"We already told you why she was here." said she;" Why do you do think that there is something going on?"

"Because I'm not stupid!" replied her sister annoyed;" You both looked pretty guilty just now when I walked in."

"You're right, Carly." began Rosanna hesitating;" Lily has promised to help me with the surprise I have planned for you for tomorrow and ofcourse we couldn't very well tell you that so please don't tell Lily that I told you."

"Ofcourse I won't and it's sweet of her to help you." smiled she relieved that it wasn't something serious that they were hiding from her and walked away again;" I'm off to the store."

"Bye." said her sister as she was relieved that Carly believed her story, but also felt guilty for lying straight to her face;" See you later."
