Chapter 57

Down at the hospital Janet was visting her daughter, before going off to work, but all she could think about was her conversation with Lily the night before. Because she was so pre-occupied by that she hardly heard a thing that Liberty was saying until her daughter shook her arm a bit;" Mom!"

"What, honey?" asked she and focused back on to her daughter;" Sorry, Libby. I wasn't paying attention."

"I noticed that." answered Liberty;" I don't know where you were just now, but it wasn't here."

"I'm sorry, Libby. I just have a lot on my mind." said her mother with a guilty look;" Jack keeps pressuring me to sign those divorcepapers."

"Then why don't you just sign them, mom? Just get it over with." suggested she hesitating, at the risk of making her mother angry;" Jack doesn't want to be with you anymore and there's no point in trying to hold on to him if he wants somebody else."

"So I should just let that lush win and give Jack to her?" asked Janet irritated;" I should give up without a fight?"

"This isn't about winning or losing, mom. This is about letting go and moving on." replied her daughter;" Why hold on to Jack when you know that he doesn't want to be with you anymore? Why not just sign those papers and start over again, maybe with somebody who does want you and who will make you happy?"

"I don't know." sighed she, thinking back to Lily's threat and wondering if Lily really meant what she said about telling the whole town;" It's not that easy, Libby."

"Jack has already made it clear that he will never come back to you, mom. He wants to be with Carly and what is the point in holding on to a guy who doesn't love you anymore when there might be somebody outthere who does?" said Liberty;" I want you to be happy and staying in this marriage with Jack isn't making you happy. Please just do the right thing and sign those papers."

"I'll think about it." promised her mother;" Maybe you're right."

Just after lunchtime Molly had just finished shopping with Jack;" Carly will love your presents."

"I hope so." said Jack;" I hope she will love my other surprise as well."

"Ofcourse she will. My cousin will love it." laughed his friend;" Why wouldn't she?"

"I'm just worried that she will get mad at me for doing this because I'm still married to Janet and that is something that Carly is still having a difficult time with, although things are going better between us and she isn't pushing me away all the time anymore." sighed he;" Maybe I should have asked her about it first instead of just doing it."

"No, ofcourse not. That would have ruined the whole surprise and you worry too much because Carly will love it." answered Molly;" I had my doubts at first too, but you really went all out on this and this is just what you guys need right now and this is just what you guys need right now."

"I hope so." replied her friend;" All I want is to make Carly happy, Molly. I want to give her everything that she deserves."

"She knows that." said she;" I'm glad you guys are finally getting back together again, Jack. You two have been dancing around eachother for way too long and it's about time that you both realized that you belong together."

"You're right. I have tried so many times to move on from Carly by getting involved with other women. Hell I even married a few of them, but it never worked in the end and I was always drawn back to her." smiled jack;" Just like she tried to do the same, but in the end we always ended up back together again until we have finally accepted the fact that we won't be happy with anybody else, no matter how hard we try."

"You guys are truly soulmates, Jack. You belong together." answered his friend;" And you'd better make my cousin happy this time around because otherwise you will have to answer to me!"

"I intend to make her happy, Molly. For the rest of our lives." promised he;" I really do."
