Home
Miranda parked the car outside the shop sighing in relief. Gary was home. It was going to be ok. That was all she cared about. He was alive, healing well from what the doctors at the hospital had told her and they were both going to get out of the car and walk into the shop. Gary looked over to her, smiling slightly.
"You ok?"
"Me?" Miranda turned to him. "I'm fine." She smiled slightly.
"Good."
"I should be asking you that."
Gary sighed heavily, before looking out of the car window at the shop next to the restaurant. "I'm ok. Relieved really. I didn't think I'd get home if I'm honest."
"Gary."
"I." He shrugged. "If I didn't have you."
"You've got me." Miranda held his hand. "Remember? In sickness and in health. All that stuff."
"Yeah." He smiled at her. "I do, you know I love you, yeah?"
"Yeah." She smiled back him. "I quite like you too." She opened the car door before almost running around to the passenger side as Gary struggled to get his crutches out of the passenger side. "I thought I was supposed to be the clumsy one." He smiled as he got out of the car, balancing his weight on the crutches. She ushered him into the shop, holding the door open as they went in.
"GARY!" Stevie hugged him tightly as he tried not to fall off the elbow crutches. "Welcome home."
"Er, well. Thanks." He righted himself as Stevie hugged Miranda. Tilly squealed and clapped as Penny emerged from the back room with Clive. "I. Er."
"Love the banner." Miranda smiled as Tilly beamed. "Thank you all so much. For everything." She bit her lip, feeling emotional once more. Gary squeezed her hand.
"Yeah. Look, this is lovely but I'm really tired. If its ok, I'm just going to go up to the flat." He watched as his friends all agreed that it was more than ok. Miranda helped him to the stairs as Stevie began organising the others. She had a feeling she had more to thank her little height challenged friend for than she could ever know.
