Sins of the Past Chapter 36

Stadium Games

Come on... just a little more...

Pulling as hard as I can, I try to rip my left gloves with the fingers on my right hand I've managed to get free.

All I need is a little opening and I can start to fix it. Obviously they're going to try and stop me so I'll need to get away from here quickly. Hopefully I can do it like I did before. I'm pretty sure it's just about thinking about the place I want to go and really needing to go there. That seems to be how my powers work. Whatever I need comes true, so long as my blood flows as I need it.

I feel the tear happening just a little bit, but the stress is too much and I have to let go.

It's only a matter of time at this point. I just have to hope that no one comes in before I get loose. With the way I went after Willow though, she's probably going to have to be talked down before anyone else comes in.

With a deep breath, I take my left glove in my fingers again and start pulling at it again. The tear starts opening more and more, before finally being coming apart.

That works. Now if only I can...

I bring my nail to my skin and start pressing into it. My teeth clench as I feel the pain until my skin finally breaks.

Ow!

I look down at my hand as I feel the blood start to flow.

I need to be out of here.

Like before, things start to get blurry beyond my hand and as I look up, the rest of the room starts to get blurry. It makes me dizzy and close my eyes to try and stop it. When the dizzy stops I open them and I don't have anything on my hands anymore.

They're gone, the chains and the gloves, they're all gone. Did I make them disappear?

I start to notice that the world around me is also different.

It's... I'm somewhere different. Looks like some kind of public washroom or something.

I slowly get up and look around.

Or maybe I just left them behind in the cell. Doesn't look like anyone else is here, which I guess is a good thing. But I'm not sure where exactly here is.

Making my way to the door, I walk out of washroom and look around.

I'm in some kind of stadium. Wait... am I where I think I am?

Around me is the hallway of some arena I vaguely remember from a while back.

I think it is. This is where the hellmouth is supposed to be. That's perfect on so many levels. I guess my powers sent me where I needed to go. Where I wanted to go to get what I'm supposed to do done. The hellmouth is the perfect amplifier for my powers. It's probably why Glory had to do what she did all those years ago on the hellmouth. It wouldn't have worked anywhere else. So if I let my blood flow from here, I'm sure I can fix all the world's problems.

Looking around a little more, I try to figure out where to go next.

Looks like the place is basically closed at the moment, so I probably don't have to worry about security or anything like that. The only problem now is where is the opening to the hellmouth itself. That's the only part of this that I'm not sure about. But thankfully, none of the other idiots I just left behind really knows where it is either. All they know is that it's somewhere around the stadium. Kinda like Giles didn't know where the hellmouth was even though he was basically living on it for months before he figured it out back in Sunnydale.

I head down in one direction just to see where it's going to take me as the hallway winds around a corner.

As long as my idiot sister, her lover and her friends don't get here before I can find it, I should be fine. I'll have to find something to cut myself with though. I'm not sure exactly how much blood it would take to do what I want to do, but I'm guessing it's probably a lot.

Stopping as I look down the hallway to see what's ahead, it's mostly food stands and memorabilia stores. I turn to go back the way I came and keep going to see what's in the other direction.

Then again, when that demon who worshipped Glory cut me, it didn't really take that much blood to open up the rift. I mean, it was painful and I felt a little weak after but I was mostly okay. Maybe that's because of the hellmouth. So all I have to do is make sure that I bleed enough and want things to change bad enough to make it actually happen.

I get about halfway down the hall and come up on one of the entrances to the stands, looking out to see the hockey rink at the centre of the stadium.

Wait... it couldn't be that simple, could it? Could the hellmouth be in the most ironic place ever?

My breath becomes visible as I get closer and closer to the stands, the air getting colder as I move down a few steps into them.

I guess it would make sense. From what I hear the hockey team isn't really the best in the league. In fact, I'm pretty sure they say that the sports in this city is cursed. Which I guess makes sense if you're living on a hellmouth. Sunnydale didn't have much in the way of a sports thing going on either. Probably because so many of the people in town would turn into human fish or die from demon attacks or disappear or any of the other things that would happen.

Looking around to make sure I really am alone in the stadium, I see one of their logos.

They even named the team the Cleveland Monsters, and I hear there's some other team called the Demons. I'm guessing that's not a coincidence. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more than a few demons on the team who could hide anything under the pads and other things they wear. Probably one of the things that makes it so difficult to win without exposing themselves to the public.

I make it down to the front row and walk right up to the glass boards, putting my hands on it to feel the cold air on it. I stare out onto the ice.

Now, the only question is, how do I cut myself on the ice? I should be able to find something somewhere that would let me do it.
