Then the lights flickered around them. Cody looked up. His mouth became the shape of a small "o." Leo couldn't fault his young pupil for it. He kinda wondered what was making the lights act up himself.

Mikey reached over and down to pick up the remote sitting next to Cody. The orange turtle pressed a few buttons. How his brother thought he knew how to use the remote for the dojo he'd just been shown minutes ago, Leo wasn't sure. But it was Mikey. If there was something both techy "and" entertaining around, he adapted to it quickly. Apparently, even he was beaten here, though.

Mikey grimaced almost like Raph. "Hey Cody, the controls don't work." He kept trying to press buttons until human genius stood up and gently took the device from him. "It's probably just a power surge."

Leo didn't stop his new student as he watched him take the remote from his youngest brother and begin pressing buttons himself. Soon the preteen was heading for the door still staring at his electronic gizmo with a slightly furrowed brow. "I'll have to reboot the system."

Mikey frowned after him, but his form went lax. Raph's however tightened up all over again. His fists re-clenched. His scowl and growl were on full display as he stepped up to Mikey's side and called after the human, "Ahhhh you can boot the whole thing!"

Donnie approached the hot head from behind and laid a calming hand and equally calming tone on Raph. "You guys hang tight. We'll go get Cody's pocket-pad and have the dojo back online in a jiffy." Then the genius followed Leo's new pupil out of their training space.

Leo sighed and glanced over at Master Splinter. His own sensei was still smiling up at him. He also raised a bushy eyebrow at Leo's. Mikey crossed his arms and sniffed. "Well, this stinks! Here we have this awesome dojo, which I just found out about, and there's a power surge!"

A breath burst through Raph's lips and he peeled one hand off his crossed arms to wave at Mikey. "Eh, the power surge did us a favor."

Leo opened his mouth, but his father spoke first. So, he shut it again and listened.

"Raphael, why does the future upset you so?"

"Eh," Raph shrugged. "There's just never any quiet anymore. Not like there ever was much with Mikey around." He turned a glared on the noisiest turtle. Mikey gave an innocent looking grin back. Raph rolled his eyes. Then he held out his arms. "But now everywhere you go there's some computer talking to ya!"

Mikey stood straighter and grinned. "I think it's cool!"

Raph turned his glare on him. "You would!"

Master Splinter stepped up beside Raphael and laid a hand on his arm. "Raphael, wherever we go there will always be noise. What is more important is calming the noise within my son."

Raph made another sound between a sigh and a growl before pulling away. His movement was not as fast or hard as Leo knew it could be though. His voice also wasn't at its roughest even if it still had some bite to it. "Then let me pace. That's the best way besides hitting something I know of for me to calm down!"

Leo stood up and came over to his father's side crossing his own arms as he watched his hot-headed brother's attempts to cool off. He could see Splinter's frown of worry below and beside him. Mikey went over to stand a little behind and at Splinter's other side. He also watched Raph with them.

Their brother in red kept pacing. His teeth gritting and foot stomping got less intense for about two minutes. As Donnie's "Jiffy" grew than that though, he marched closer. He swung his arms while asking "What's taking them so long?"

Leo let his gaze follow Raph. Mikey and Splinter's heads turned to do the same. Their father spoke as the ninja stepped out of the bright spotlight coming through a large hole in the ceiling. He, Splinter, and Mikey kept standing in it since they were only waiting for their brother and host now. Splinter spoke, "Patience Raphael." Leo saw Raph's form meld into the shadows even as the sounds of his feet carried back to them clearly not very ninja like.

The red-banded ninja turned back to them pulling an arm in while glaring and saying "Yeah, not my strong suit."

Leo repressed a sigh. If Cody stuck his head in now, Raph might bite it off with a few choice words. Maybe he should offer to spar old style with his rougher brother to burn some of Raph's energy up and put him in a better mood beforehand? However, Raph kept walking away from them and to the door now. When he was about a stride from the threshold he said, "I'm outta here."

Then the doors slid, or snapped, closed. Raph jerked his beak back. It had almost been caught in the doors. His voice was more angry than surprised as he exclaimed a "Hey!"

An electronic buzzing sound caught Leo's attention. Splinter and he both looked up toward it. A bright white light with a red glow around it ran through the some of the seams between hexagonal panels replacing the usual calming blue glow of the inner dome. It moved through them like slow lightning or a quick snake maybe always following the straight lines of its path. Four such trails of the strange buzzing light source traveled from various places to meet each other near the top of the dome near the hole in the roof. Together they created a larger flash of white light right under the hole. The white and red glow flared downward like steam in an upside-down cauldron. A face took form in the glow light source.

Leo stared at it. Pulsating energy had turned dark crimson. Now the glow around the near the solid form was an orange color. A darker orange slash of a mouth hovered above a pointed chin. Matching eyes with slightly darker orange eyebrows furrowed deeply over them also appeared. Something like strands of hair or maybe arteries and veins of power feeding that disappeared beyond the rim of the dome's port hole like opening above them also reached down to connect to the overall heart-shape of the face before them. Although it looked more like an actual heart ripped from a chest than the Valentine Card kind.

Leo could feel his father and brothers staring at this apparent apparition of energy. They had seen many weird things, but where did this rank with them all? The face spoke. "You're not going anywhere!" And then it began to laugh.

Raph stepped up behind him. Once again, Leo was glad of the hothead's solid presence at his back. They all went into fighting stances as whatever it was continued to leer down at them with its huge mouth and narrowed eyes. After a moment passed and it didn't attack, they went back into more relaxed stances. Raph asked "What the shell is that?"

It began to laugh again. Its form acted like fire. Little bursts of crimson energy flared out of it before disappearing in the air, the whole face grew longer, and the chin became more pointed as it laughed once more. Mikey said what they were all thinking and no one else would bother saying, except to lighten the mood, "Why do I get the feeling she's laughing 'at' not with us?"

The face seemed sucked back up into the portal even as it continued laughing. When the giant face had disappeared, they all turned their stares on Mikey. Splinter's brows and corners of the mouth were the lowest.

Some panels of the dome slid aside to reveal glowing white and blue lines around black shapes looking like micro, or maybe macro, chips of a computer. Leo thought Donnie would know what they were. But why …

Shuriken flew out of various places in the circular wall. Leo drew his sword. He deflected them. He heard and saw a circular blade on a cord head toward Raph. The hothead drew his sai. Then he gathered himself to jump. "I knew this robo-dojo was a bad idea." He hopped over the saw. It went under him before arching up and right at Splinter.

Their sensei moved out of the way. Then a sparking wire came at his back. It hit him in the shoulder as he turned toward it. His eyes went wide. His fur stood on end. A strangled, low "Ahhhhh" came out of his wide-open mouth.

Leo jerked at the sound. He stared. "Master Splinter!"

The cord withdrew. Splinter fell back toward Leonardo. He reached down to catch his sensei with the heel of his hand holding his sword being careful to tilt the blade away from the rat's back. Splinter landed on Leo's clenched fingers. His student grimaced at the smell of burnt rat hair. Splinter grit his teeth and moaned while leaning on his student.

He opened his eyes and lifted his head. His eyes met Leo's gaze. The turtle remained silent as he listened to his sensei say, "Perhaps it would be wise to sit this one out." Splinter moaned again while titling his head backward. His muzzle pointed up toward the ceiling.

Leo lowered his father to the floor. Then he turned him on his side. Hopefully, if his teacher remained close to the ground …

Leo looked up. More shuriken were coming his way. He backed up. If they were all aimed at him, maybe he could …

He kept his blades hovering of his teacher's form just in case. Yes, the projectiles followed him. He backed a little further away though still within lunging distance of the air over his sensei.

A banging came from the door out of the dojo followed by Donnie's voice. "Guys, open up! We've got trouble out here!"

Not taking his eyes off the incoming shuriken, Leo backed up to stand just inside the door. He slashed through yet another before replying "Tell me about it!"

Things seemed to go quiet outside. Then they fell still and quiet inside. He ran back to his father before kneeling at his side. "Sensei?"

The rat moaned. Leo pulled him to his feet. Splinter leaned against him. Mikey and Raphael gathered around them. The hot head asked, "Again, what the shell was that?"

Leo squinted his eyes at the treacherous, round wall of this place. "I don't know Raph, but let's not let our guard down yet!"

Mikey began to wave his arms. "This stinks! If we're going to have such a 'hard' first practice in the new dojo, can't we at least have a cool setting for it?"

This time Leo joined Raph in glaring at their brother. Then the head, face, construct of energy, whatever appeared again out of the hole in the dome's ceiling. She partially grinned partially glared down at them. "I need the password to O'Neil Tech's mainframe. And toying with you is going to get it for me!"

Leo kept holding his father up at the rat still felt limp and heavy in his grasp. Mikey glanced over at Splinter. Leo thought they were all thinking the same thing. They, the students had managed to come out unscathed so far, but what about their teacher? How were they going to protect him if things got worse? Well, at least he and Mikey might be thinking that.

Raph stepped past him. Then he shouted up at the head floating just below the ceiling. "Bring it lady! We'll give you a good old fashioned turtle smack-down!"

Leo glanced from the hot head to their enemy. He saw the expression on the crimson face of energy barely change as it muttered "Vertebrates. Such slow learners."

Okay, Leo thought to himself. Apparently, she's not a vertebrate. Guess I should have guessed with her seeming lack of a backbone or any bone. I've listened enough to Donnie explain things to know that much …

Their surroundings became distorted and then a new vision snapped into place.

What do you think will happen next?
