The rest of the month, and the few weeks after that had gone by smoothly for Nora. Linnie hadn't given her much to an attitude like he normally would, cooking her dinner, draw her baths, pour her alcohol (despite loathing the smell) and giving her back rubs and kisses with a smile on his face, always asking if there was anything he could do for her. At one point, she even got him to hand feed her grapes while she was flipping through the channels, looking for something new to watch.
Although she much preferred this new Linnie as opposed to the one who thought the world revolved around him and his baby, there was something off about him as well. The few times they kissed each other on the lips, though soft and gentle, were passionless and careless, almost as if Linnie didn't have a care in the world. While she knew he was an excellent kisser, Nora didn't feel like her wants were being met, not to mention his stomach was bulging out even more; it grossed Nora out. She was craving something else..more passionate..more exciting. She wanted to feel loved rather than just "loved".
Then, as Linnie went to do her laundry and clean the sheets, Nora thought back to the spell she had learned to cast not too long ago. She wondered why she didn't use it on Arthur before he left; maybe she would have never met such a half-assed man like Linnie, and might have ended up sleeping with him, happily married, and sure they've used protection. Though she wasn't sure she was in love with him after he had left and hurt her, Nora did still feel a certain way towards him. It was a feeling Linnie couldn't even fathom making her feel. Maybe it was high time she paid him a little visit.
"Nora dear?", Linnie asked, right on queue, "I'm going to run to the store and grab the rest of the things we..I'm sorry I need for the baby. Do you want me to stop anywhere for you?"
"Uh..yeah. Stop by the liquor store and get me some more whiskey on your way back, and a beer case for in the mornings and afternoons."
"Oh, alright then. I won't be too long darling. I promise.", Linnie said, grabbing his wand and leaving the house, allowing Nora time to open the address book and look up Arthur's address, poofing herself towards a white apartment building with a navy blue door. Nora knocked on it and waited, trying to make sure her beehive hair was in order, and dusting herself off.
"Nora?", Arthur asked when he opened the door, "What are you doing here? Are you still getting my mail? I've been waiting for that new book to come in so.."
"What? No! I don't have any mail for you. I just came by to see you.", Nora said, "How have you been?"
"Good. Better now that I'm not married to you.", Arthur snarked, making a burst of anger hit Nora in the heart, "I'm finally with someone that treats me with some respect."
"Oh really? You couldn't possibly be talking about that pink-haired prostitute, could you?"
"I..you know what, Nora? I can't deal with this anymore. You've had your chance and you blew it, and I'm not going to let you stand there and let you talk bad about my wife..again!", Arthur yelled, trying to shut the door before Nora stuck her foot in, blocking the door from shutting completely. Quickly, she took her wand out and waved it around his face, making the star turn pink and the mist that Linnie had seen re-appear, Arthur's eyes now turning pink much like Linnie's had been.
"Now, what was that you were saying? That you'd wish I'd leave your life?", Nora said, a smile on her face.
"W-What? No, of course not! I love you! I can't believe I would say that to you! Oh, I'm so sorry! Would you ever forgive me?"
Though almost ready to say yes, Nora stopped herself for a moment. She looked around for any signs of Willow behind his nice, clean white apartment, and saw that nothing was there. No trace of pink was in sight.
"Well darling, that depends. Is Willow near you?"
"Who?"
"Your wife."
"Aren't you my wife?"
"That pink haired bimbo you live with! Where is she?"
"Oh her! Yeah, she said she was going to be gone all day. I think she's taking a trip with her girlfriends..Yeah, my roommate is quite the social butterfly, haha. I don't remember marrying her though."
"Well in that case..", Nora said, before pulling Arthur towards her and kissing him on the lips, feeling his body sink in submission. Nora shut the door behind her as she made herself at home, not daring to lose contact with Arthur. Oh man, did she miss this. It had been far too long that she and Arthur had this kind of intimacy with each other, even if it was forced, and Nora wanted to get the full experience one last time before Linnie tied her down with some stupid family.
A bit more careful this time, she asked Arthur is they wanted to fool around in bed for a while, and after receiving a yes, she dug through Willow's drawers for protection while Arthur was turned away, just so she didn't get herself exposed if Arthur somehow mysteriously missed a cycle. After a few minutes, she had finally gotten herself ready, and lied down on top of him, kissing them on the lips as the two began to..well..sleep with each other. Her lustful cravings were finally being satisfied, and Nora felt like she was on top of the world. So much so, that for once, she had ignored the phone that was ringing in her pocket, even though it was oddly persistent. Usually, people leave a message or don't bother calling again. Oh well, must be some stupid ass telemarketer.
The sun was starting to set and Linnie felt like his arms were going to explode off his little body any given moment now. Now that he had stopped everywhere, including the liquor store for Nora, he attempted to walk home (since the baby's weight made it impossible for him to fly), having to stop and take breaks every few minutes to gather up his breath, and make sure the bags wouldn't cut off his circulation. He had also been dealing with a headache that had been even larger than he had previously experienced, and constantly felt like he wanted to throw up, though this time he couldn't vomit.
As he tried to take himself home, he found himself questioning his own memory. Wasn't he supposed to be mad at her? What was I supposed to be upset about? She gives me a roof over my head and food in my stomach, and I don't recall her doing anything to me? Was I overreacting about uhm..whatever it was that happened? I really hope it wasn't something too bad. I love Nora with all my heart. I really do. I don't know if I can live my life without her. Oh, it's just too bad I can't afford a ring right now. I'd give her the nicest one in Fairy World if I could. She deserves it. I'm nothing without her. Ugh..I don't remember the walk home being this long.
All of the sudden, Linnie felt a sharp pain in his stomach causing him to fall on his knees, but able to set the stuff down without breaking anything. He groaned in pain as he couldn't get back up, and felt liquid falling down his black pants. Oh no..oh no..he wasn't sure he was quite ready yet.
"Sir, are you ok?", a female fairy asked, flying over and kneeling down, watching helplessly as Linnie started to sweat and panted like a dog. She then looked at his stomach and arched her brows, "Oh god, I'll go ahead and call an ambulance. Do you have a wife or.."
"N-No miss, but I have a girlfriend. Here, use my phone. Just please, call an ambulance.", Linnie panted, as the woman grabbed his phone out of his pants pocket, dialing 911 before looking through his contacts.
"What's her name?"
"N-Nora-OW! EEK!"
"Ok ok! I'll call her. Just relax.", the woman said, dialing the number. Several rings. No response. She tried again. No response. The woman was starting to lose her patience as Linnie howled and squeaked like he was an animal that had gotten loose. "What's your name, sir?"
"L-Linnie-OW! OH! GET IT OUT, PLEASE!"
The woman watched helplessly before the two heard a siren, and red and blue lights flashing over their heads. She look at breath of relief to see the ambulance arrive, and two workers putting Linnie on a stretcher and pushing him inside the ambulance, the woman following behind with her stuff.
"Hold on, are you family?", one of the workers asked.
"No, but I've tried calling his girlfriend and she's not answered. I'm all he has right now. I won't try anything, I promise."
"P-Please, huff..puff..let her ride. OW! Ugh..", Linnie whined again, as the two workers shrugged and closed the vehicle doors, carrying Linnie away as he struggled to relax in the stretcher, his stomach feeling like it's about to burst.
