"NATSU!"
"ARE YOU GOING to stare at the drink all day or are you going to tell us what's on your mind?" A soft, firm voice had interrupted Natsu's thoughts. He looked over to the left and saw the redhead with Armour sit down beside him as she ordered a cake. "You've been staring at your drink for a while now." She commented.
Natsu shrugged. "Just bored y'know?" He could feel his gut tightening as he lied to his comrade.
"My name isn't Luce, it's Lucy."
The corner of his mouth quirked up.
"It's hard to track someone's name when you've only met them five seconds ago."
"Did something good happen between you and Gray during the mission, or-" Erza had started to say, but Natsu had glared at her and she smiled, closing her mouth. Her eyes sparkled as she raised her fork out of her strawberry cheesecake and dug a piece for herself, moaning at the taste.
"No, no, nothing like that." He grinded his teeth together at the thought of Gray. Even with the fact of having something between him, Natsu couldn't bring himself to admit out loud that he would choose Lucy over everybody any day.
"Do you want to go on another mission?" Erza asked, rolling her shoulders towards the fire mage in amusement, trying to cheer him up. But with one look - he finished his glass and got up - she knew it wasn't working.
"Sorry, not today." He looked over his shoulder at Erza and shrugged. "Had fun though," Within that, he waved off and exited the building.
"NO FISHING TODAY?" HAPPY asked, his ears down. His eyes scanned the ground underneath Natsu's footsteps as they walked through the forest.
"Nah, not today buddy." He said, his voice barely in a whisper.
"Hmm." Happy hummed sadly. It had just stopped raining and the air was fresh. It was a bit cold out compared to the small cat, but for Natsu, he was fine.
"Why don't you want to go fishing anymore, Natsu?" Happy asked, breaking the silence. "It was so much fun, especially with Lucy-"
"Lucy isn't here, Happy." Natsu snapped, his eyes closing. "If she was, it would be a different story."
"Yeah no duh!" Happy hissed back. "But just because she's gone doesn't mean that we can't still have fun!" He whined.
"Yeah?" Natsu raised his voice and his footsteps became heavier. "And what fun is there when she's not around?" He scoffed. "Lucy made everything fun, even if she was mad at us for stupid shit! She was the only one who made me feel as if they weren't going to leave me and that she was safe! She was beautiful, funny, smart, ignorant, intelligent, brave, strong- SHE made everything, EVERYTHING-" He stopped and realized he was shouting. Happy was in front of him in the air, looking at him with sadness and alarm. The rain picked back up again and it took him long enough to know that he was standing there. In the rain.
"Sorry."
"I get that you miss her, Natsu, but you can't keep sulking around like the world ended." Happy sucked in a breath when they met eyes again. Natsu's eyes were filled with an emptiness. A sadness that was dug deep enough that he was scrapping dirt in his nails with desperation to find hear her voice again, to hold her once again, to feel her and see her. Even if he knew it was pointless, Natsu was still clawing.
He slowly turned away and smiled a bit, looking down at the ground as he felt tears go down his cheeks. "For me, it did end the world."
