Chapter 2:
Oceanus, Ice, Breeze, and Tenebris padded out of the cave. Ice and Breeze looked rather shaken while Oceanus and Tenebris looked completely calm. Oceanus looked around for Phoenix and Terra, feeling a pang of fear for a moment when he didn't see his daughter and groupmate. Then he spotted them playing with a frog and let out a relieved sigh.
Oceanus led the smaller group over to Phoenix and Terra. The two spotted them and Terra widened her eyes when she saw Ice and Breeze's expressions.
"What happened?" Phoenix questioned and tilted her head a little, sitting down calmly and curling her tail around her paws.
The blue tom glanced at Terra, signaling that he didn't want her to hear this.
"Terra, let's go have a race!" Breeze purred, seeing the look in Oceanus' eyes, and lead the brown she-cat away from the rest of the group.
Oceanus turned back to Phoenix, sitting down an preparing himself to tell her what he had seen in the cave.
"I had a vision…" He started, his voice soft, and Phoenix's eyes widened.
"You did?!" She exclaimed, her tail tip flicking back and forth with interest.
"Yes." Oceanus nodded.
He didn't know how much Tenebris, Ice, and Breeze had seen…
And he didn't want to give too much away if they hadn't seen or heard as much as he had.
"Can you tell me about the vision?" Phoenix asked and raised a brow, clearly waiting for him to tell the story.
Oceanus just frowned. "That doesn't matter. But...there was a prophecy. Six shall rise of fire, darkness, water, earth, wind, and ice. One, with a frozen heart, shall turn. And one, buried to the tree's roots, shall die. And the rest will bring the light to drive out the shadows."
Confusion immediately spread over Phoenix's face. "Wait...is this...talking about us?"
Oceanus nodded grimly. "I suppose it is. And I'm not thrilled to find out who's heart will 'freeze'."
Phoenix immediately looked at Ice, hostility in her gaze. "Well...there's only one cat here with ice powers…"
Ice's eyes immediately widened in defense. "Wait?! You're accusing me of being a traitor?!"
Oceanus just rolled his eyes.
This was going to be a long day.
"Yes, I am!" Phoenix hissed, her fur fluffing up to make her seem bigger and scarier.
"Well what about that last part?" Ice growled, shooting a glare at Tenebris. "'Drive out the shadows'? Who here has shadow powers?"
Tenebris' face remained neutral, and it piqued Oceanus' interest…
How was he going to react to this?
"Ice, are you saying that I am unloyal to this group? One I have helped create from the ground up?"
Oceanus bit his tongue. That wasn't exactly true… Tenebris had missed out on the early days of the Elementals. He was too busy being an emo jerk.
But he didn't say anything.
"Yeah, that's exactly what we're both saying!" Phoenix snarled, leaping at Tenebris. But the large black tom sidestepped her, finally showing some emotion on his face.
Unfortunately for Phoenix and Ice, that emotion was anger.
"You have no proof!" Tenebris spat, the cold fury in his eyes causing Phoenix and Ice to shudder.
"Enough of this!" Oceanus snapped, getting tired of the argument. "We have no proof that anyone is a traitor. This prophecy could even not be talking about one of us. Until we find out who it is, you will treat each other with respect and dignity."
The blue tom let out a sigh when Ice and Phoenix both mumbled a 'yes sir', but he noticed that Tenebris was refusing to look at him…
He probably just needed to let out some steam, that was all.
"Go take a walk." Oceanus muttered, heading off in a random direction.
Oceanus walked for a while, not really caring where he was going. His tracking skills were amazing, so if he got lost, it wouldn't be too hard to find where the others were.
Some days, he really wished he had kept it as just him and Tenebris roaming the world together, without anyone else.
But he had a job to do. He had to teach younger cats how to control their powers, so that they wouldn't make the same mistakes he had…
That was his purpose, no matter how much he hated it sometimes.
Although, there were times when he wouldn't want to do anything else. Like the times when they would all get along, and have nice conversations for once. Unfortunately, that was a rare occurrence, but Oceanus loved every second of it.
"I've been waiting to talk to you for a while."
A voice snapped Oceanus out of his thoughts and he looked in front of him, narrowing his blue eyes when he saw a large ginger tom with one white paw standing in front of him.
"Am I supposed to know you?" The blue tom asked, trying to keep all hostility and nervousness out of his voice. He needed stay calm if he wanted to get some information out of this cat.
"I don't expect you to know me, but I know who you are."
Oceanus raised a brow, noticing the stars glittering in the tom's pelt. "What are you?"
Thunderstar sat down. "I'm glad you asked. I am Thunderstar, the founder of ThunderClan."
Oceanus felt like he had heard that name before. Thunderstar…
Then it clicked.
His father had mentioned it once or twice when he was a kit, and had told stories about the Clans…
But that was before he died.
The blue tom decided to be honest. "I've heard of you before…"
"You have? Well, that either means I did something right, or something terribly wrong." Thunderstar chuckled. "Do you know why I'm here?"
"No." Oceanus bit back a witty retort. He rarely got an idea of something smart to say, but he usually didn't say it. There was no point in being a smartass.
"Well, you already know what the prophecy is, but now I need to give you a hint…"
Oceanus leaned forward, now interested in what this cat had to say. What did he know about the prophecy?
"You must find the Clans...and save them from the darkened shadows…"
Oceanus' vision went black a few moments later…
…
When he woke up, Thunderstar was gone.
There was no trace of the former ThunderClan leader.
No scent, no pawprints, nothing.
Only Oceanus' memory.
"Hey, Oceanus!" He heard someone call out, and turned around, seeing Tenebris bounding over to him. "I've been looking for you…"
"You have?" Oceanus frowned. Tenebris didn't usually care where he was. But the blue tom looked at the sun's position, realizing how late it was, and that he had been gone a long time.
Tenebris suddenly furrowed his brow. "Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost!"
That's because I have. Oceanus thought, letting out a small, barely noticeable sigh. "I'm fine...just a bit tired…"
"We should get back." Tenebris nodded. "You need your rest…"
Screw you writer's block.
Well, I tried my best this chapter. Sorry it wasn't very long, it's late, and I'm tired. I just wanted to get this chapter done with so that I can move on with the plot and avoid writing the next chapter of Black Sky XD
Have a nice day, and don't forget to review.
