Now let's see what Lucas was did during the day

Lucas was working on catching up on everything he missed and occasionally asking Topanga for help.

He wanted to be done with everything as soon as possible so that he could join his friends in school again.

Topanga sat next to him pretending to read a book while she kept an eye on Lucas.

It's almost lunchtime when Lucas finally finishes the work Riley had left for him.

Lucas shuts his book and lets out a relieved sigh. Topanga smiles from her place next to him and puts her book down.

She ruffles his hair, earning herself a groan of protest from the boy, before going to make lunch for the two of them.

Lucas follows her and tries to help as much as he is allowed to.

They sit down together to eat when suddenly Lucas says, "I want to take Riley out on a date today."

Topanga smiles and replies, "Where do you want to take her? I'll give you some money as allowance as well."

Lucas shakes his head and says, "My parents give me some money along with Pappy Joe, so money is not an issue really. But I was thinking to doing something in private this time. As much as I would love to show off my girlfriend to the world, we won't be able to talk outside."

Topanga nods, understanding and replies, "You two definitely have a lot to talk about. Do you have any specific place in mind for your date? Knowing you, you probably have it all planned out,"

Lucas blushes and says, "I was thinking about a picnic on the roof if it's okay with you?"

Topanga pauses to think for a moment and replies, "That's a wonderful idea. So what do you need? And please don't feel shy if you need anything, even money, from us. You're like a son to both Cory and me so we don't mind giving you some allowance."

Lucas is about to say something when Topanga cuts him off and continues, "Don't start with the you're already doing me a huge favour by letting me stay here like this and all that. Whatever we're doing here is out of love. We love you and that's why we want what's best for you. Don't ever feel bad about accepting help from us."

Lucas nods and says, "I'll need a few things to decorate the roof. Also I want to make the food myself, so will you help me with that?"

Topanga smiles and replies, "Of course I will help you in any way I can. If you want some desserts then I would suggest getting something from the bakery because we probably won't have the time to bake something. Now why don't you tell me exactly what you have planned."

Lucas nods in agreement and replies, "Okay so here is what I was thinking…"

Topanga sees how his eyes light up while talking about his plans and also notices how he has planned everything to the smallest detail.

She finds herself amazed at the boy and once again wonders how his parents could ignore him.

When she had heard from Pappy Joe that his father thought of him as a disgrace, she was enraged.

Sure Lucas had some anger issues but he was working so hard on them.

Why couldn't his parents see his efforts?

How could they make their only son, their own flesh and blood, feel so unloved?

She truly despises such people.

She made a silent vow to herself to never let Lucas feel unloved.

If his parents refused to give him any love and affection, then she would.

When they're done with their lunch they start making all the arrangements for the big date that night.

Auggie finds them working together in the kitchen when he returns from school and decides to join in on the fun.

The menu decided by Lucas includes pasta and chocolate cake from Topanga's.

Lucas does most of the work while also giving out instructions and accepting help. He makes sure to give Auggie some work as well so that he doesn't feel left out.

Auggie was pleased with the opportunity to help out with Riley's date.

Topanga is pleasantly surprised to see Lucas working in the kitchen with such ease and smiles when she notices that Lucas doesn't let Auggie feel left out.

They are packing the food in a picnic basket when the gang enters the house.

Lucas greets them with a smile, "Good afternoon guys. Hope you had a nice day. And Riley, thank you so much for leaving your notes. I've gone through them and I'm pretty confident about joining you guys at school starting next week."

He then turns to Topanga and says, "I'll just go down to the bakery and get what I need."

He notices Topanga moving to her purse so he continues, "I'm not taking money from you. I can take care of this myself."

Topanga glares at him to get him to change his mind but Lucas doesn't back down.

The teens wince seeing Topanga's expression.

Surprisingly Topanga is the one who gives in and says, "Alright fine. Go and buy what you need for your date."

The jaws of all the teens drop on hearing this while Lucas cheers to celebrate his victory making Auggie laugh.

Farkle comments, "Did Topanga just lose a glaring contest?"

Maya adds, "I never thought I would see the day when Topanga Matthews would give in to anything like that."

Zay then asks, "What date are you two talking about?"

Smackle adds, "Who's going on a date?"

Lucas turns to them and says, "I'm taking Riley for our second first date tonight."

Riley looks surprised and says, "Lucas you don't have to."

Lucas replies, smiling, "I know but I want to. Just wear something comfortable. We're not going anywhere fancy."

Maya interrupts, "What do you mean second first date?"

Farkle looks at Maya and replies, "Their first date was a double date with us. Hambone was being overprotective so he made us all go together, remember?"

He then turns to Lucas and continues, "This is supposed to be your proper first date and you're not even going anywhere fancy. I think you know that first dates are very important for girls. So Lucas, what is wrong with you?"

Lucas looks offended but Topanga beats him to a reply saying, "If you knew what he had planned you wouldn't ask him that Farkle. Besides, first dates are for getting to know each other better so going to a fancy restaurant won't be the best idea. How can you possibly talk at a fancy restaurant?"

Farkle replies, "But they already know each other."

Smackle says, "She's got a point beloved. It doesn't matter if two people know each other. We both knew each other too but we also needed to talk on our first date."

Farkle tries to come up with a retort but fails.

Lucas then says, "I know that this is extremely important Farkle. Even if we aren't going anywhere fancy, I promise it will be memorable."

Riley looks at him smiling and replies, "I have no doubts about that."

Lucas is over the moon to hear that Riley still believes in him and he smiles back.

Maya and Zay making gagging sounds behind the love birds earning them an annoyed look from Auggie.

Lucas and Riley simply roll their eyes at their immature friends.

Lucas then says, "Now if y'all will excuse me I have some last minute preparation to do, so see ya."

Maya pulls Riley towards her room saying, "Excuse me boys but I have a girl to prepare for her second first date. Smackle come and help"

Smackle simply follows the girls.

The boys just look at each other and shrug.
