A moment in the sun

Hiya everybody! This is going to be a number of challenges for my Forum, Fallenclan! It's owned by succulentsofa.

These cats are my OCs, they're from a new Story I plan on writing! It's gonna take some time though, i think. Anyways, enjoy this Story, thanks for reading!

Twinklenight sighed as she wandered away from camp. She loved her Clan, she really did, but sometimes, Shadowclan was just very exhausting. She had never agreed to look after Ambersong's kits, they were going to be apprentices soon, let Sunpaw and Stripepaw play with them!

The sun burned down on her dark brown pelt, making it even warmer. Twinklenight shook slightly, asking herself how the sun got through so well, they were in a forest after all. She wandered down to the lake to go drink something. It was one of the hottest days this leaf green, and Twinklenight hated it. Sure, some cats may enjoy it (cats like Daisypetal), but Twinklenight wasn't one of them. She hated leaf green, the extra bait was neat and all, but the heat and dryness were enough to let her completely hate the season.

Dust and needles of the pines above her stuck to her fur, poking at her skin, making her even more uncomfortable. She sighed again, thinking about quickening her step, then deciding against it since it just was simply too hot.

When she finally arrived at the lake and had drunk something, she sat in the shade for a while, staring at the lake. It was too warm to think. Twinklenight was about to go back to camp and her cool nest, when she heard a voice behind her.

"Well, you definitely look- unwell." Twinklenight didn't need to turn her head to know who it was, but she still did, watching her brother as he sat down next to her. "And I should know, I'm the medicine cat." Pineneedle continued, lightly shoving her shoulder, grinning. Twinklenight groaned. "Nooooo don't move it's wayyyy to hot."

Pineneedle chuckled, stretching his front legs. "You are not made for leaf green, are you?" Twinklenight shook her head. "Nope, not at all." She eyed her brother from the side. "You seem content though." Pineneedle yawned. "Yup, I like this warmth. The bad thing now is that all the herbs die because of draught." He sighed. Twinklenight frowned. "I thought you sent Scarletpaw to collect some yesterday and she returned with a lot." Her brother brightened slightly. "She did! It's not too much, but it's something! Just don't get sick." he teased.

"Maybe you should ask Riverclan for help." Another voice came from behind them. The siblings whirled around and saw a white she-cat grin at them. "Daisypetal!" Pineneedle exclaimed, smiling. He scooted a little for her to sit down, but she waved it away with her tail. "It's fine, I can sit in the sun."

Twinklenight watched her best friend with a warmth in her belly that had nothing to do with the sun. "Hey, Daisypetal! What are you doing here?" Daisypetal shrugged, although Twinklenight could have sworn that her ear tips turned red. It was probably just because of the sun.

"I saw you walking out of camp and asked myself what was wrong." She looked at them questioningly. Twinklenight groaned. "The weather." Daisypetal laughed openly, looking at her teasingly but with a bit of fondness. "I forgot that you hated leaf green. I can't entirely understand why, this heat is nice!" she argued, rolling on the floor and getting up with sand and needles in her fur. Pineneedle shook his head with an amused grin playing around his lips. Twinklenight just rolled her eyes. The biggest question here was how Daisypetal had so much energy in this heat.

Pineneedle rose slowly, making Twinklenight blink, and stalked towards the lake. The two she-cats stared at him. Daisypetal scooted closer to Twinklenight so that they were touching. Twinklenight felt her friend's warm pelt against hers and her skin buzzed at the touch. She shook the feeling off, cursing herself, before asking "What is he doing?" Before Daisypetal could answer, Pineneedle already jumped into the lake, making both she-cats jump up, and then resurfaced with a wide grin. Twinklenight and Daisypetal blinked dumbly. "You have to come in, the water is GREAT!" the medicine cat shouted. His sister looked at her best friend, who just shrugged and then darted towards the wetness.

Twinklenight shook her head, before following them.

The water was nice. Cool against her hot skin and pelt, but not cold. Twinklenight cherished this one moment. Her, her brother, and her best friend, floating in the cool lake, the sun burning down on them.
