After Jake's Universe Studios, a company founded for the soul purpose of creating entertainment for the fans by the fans, created six musicals that were a critical success, this being Chica Chicken and the Pizza Factory, Jake and Janet's Universe's Five Nights at Freddy's: The Musical, Jacob Storyteller: A Hero in Need, Minecraft: Order of the Stone, and The Storyteller: Across the Stars, it was time that they started something brand new along with their sixth musical, Jake and Janet's Universe: All Together Now! All of these musicals, minus Chica Chicken, were the first chronological musicals to hit Broadway.
For the longest time, Paru has been wanting Jake's Universe to do something with Beastars ever since Jake's Universe's collaboration with Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. While some fans of Beastars were hoping that Jake's Universe gives them the spotlight, others were hoping that it would stay as it were in fear of it becoming too popular and ruining the charm of Beastars. JU would keep it on the downlow about their future projects with Paru's Beastars but would make small references in their spin-off television show starring the Fazbears and their main character Jake Schmidt.
Finally on November 21st, 2019, Jake's Universe tweeted a picture of the logo above, saying that on April 1st, they would experience something that musical lovers would never forget. It followed with a winky face.
Some people took this lightly and thought it was an obvious early April fools joke as the date of the show was on April Fools Day… however, only a few days later, the Japanese division of Jake's Universe Studios announced that they were collaborating with another studio to make a stage play on Beastars.
Fans were known unsure if this was real or if this was just another Jake's Universe prank that they were known for. But as the 15th Anniversary Celebration of Jake's Universe kicked off on New Year's Day in a plaza somewhere in the Chicago area, a website was launched: . The only way people can find out for sure that if this was going to be the real deal was by seeing the show when it comes out and seeing the reviews. They announced a preview run of the show in Chicago that would last from February 23th through March 10th. After that, it would make it's journey to New York City as an Off-Broadway production, open previews on March 27th, and then open officially on April 1st.
As February 23rd came closer and closer, the cast list would be published along with a small preview of the show would be streamed on YouTube featuring three songs from the show, and introducing the story, cast, and crew. The theater near the plaza will host the show for it's limited run… and you so happened to live near the place. Just a few miles away.
You and your friends have been waiting a long time for the new upcoming musical based on Itagaki Paru's manga and now the day is finally here. Jake's Universe encouraged people who have no knowledge of the story to come see the show and to check it out.
Your theater friend/manga reader was super erger to see this as Christian Borle and Ethan Slater were casted in the show. He/she would keep reminding you that Borle played Shakespear in Something Rotten! and Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and how him playing Louis might be a good choice for him. As for Ethan Slater, aka Spongebob? Your friend would not shut up about how he's going to be playing Jack and how it was the perfect role for him. He also said that Legoshi was being played by someone named Reeve Carney who played Peter Parker in that ill-fated Spider-Man musical. But he resurred you that he plays a good moody teenager, just like Legoshi.
Once you got to your seat, you began to think why does this need to exist? Was it really worth it to make a musical on something that really doesn't need a musical adaptation? Perhaps you should just leave before the show starts and kind of forget this happens. It's bound to fail anyways, because how can you translate something from a manga that the general public wouldn't understand into a musical? The answer isn't simple, but Jake's Universe somehow found a way to do it.
The only thing on the stage is a bright white screen with the logo of the musical on it with no wolf ears. As the lights dim and the overtune starts to play, you begin to think…
' Maybe this might not be as bad as I think it would…'
