Asahi21: I thought about it, but at the time, Naruto was not supposed to have the Kyuubi yet. And who would take the words of a child seriously, even if they are smarter than others? I really wanted to save Uzu so I made it to where there were enough for a new clan in Konoha, which will make a new Uzu in the future. I just needed a way to make everything believable. And even when he did have the Kyuubi, it was supposed to be a vicious beast made for destruction. Who would listen to something like that? Sorry for the rant, but I just wanted you to know my reasoning for making the story the way I did.
And other people that want to ask me about something, let me know and I will try to respond in the next chapter. But for now, let's get back to our regularly scheduled program.
It was finally time for the Uzumaki children to go to the Academy, and for Naruto and Kushina to meet Minato. Naruto was a little worried that he would mess something up and end up making his father hate his mother but tried to keep that thought out of his head. As long as Naruto stayed out of their business then they would get together, poor Naruto didn't know that he had already caught the eye of Minato when he saw him training a few days prior.
When Minato first saw the Uzumaki's entering the village, he knew that they were interesting and more powerful than any ninja he had seen before. Then, he saw the other kids in the group, there were seven kids in total, but only two caught his eye. First was the oldest looking girl, about his age who was loud and seemingly rude. He automatically didn't like her because she acted like she was so important, almost like an Uchiha. The second was the oldest-looking boy, and he looked almost as powerful as some of the ninjas. From what Minato had seen, the boy was calm-headed and kind, seeing how he was holding the hand of two younger children and giving another a piggyback ride. This made Minato feel that if the boy was taking the exam this year, he wanted him on his team.
"Okay class, today we have two new students joining us. You can come in and introduce yourselves!" The teacher called making the rest of the students calm down and look at the door. Minato, who already knew of the new kids, just smiled slightly because that meant that they might be able to be put on the same team. When the door opened, Minato was a little annoyed at the girl that came in yelling before seeing the boy hit her head. "Sorry about her. I am Naruto Uzumaki of the Uzumaki clan, nice to meet you." The boy, now known as Naruto, said before the girl walked up. "My name is Kushina Uzumaki of the Uzumaki clan. I am the princess of Uzu and I will become the Hokage -ttebane!" The girl, now known as Kushina stated, making Minato annoyed with her even more.
"Let's get any questions out of the way. So does anyone have any questions?" The teacher asked, making many hands go up in the air. The teacher picked on one and the questions started.
Q: Where are you from? I've never heard of the Uzumaki clan.
A: We are from Uzushiogakure, we are from the same clan as Mito-sama.
Q: Why are you here if you have your own village?
A: We came here because of a treaty, but more of our clan came because Uzushiogakure was destroyed not too long ago.
Q: You must not have been strong if you were wiped out.
A: It took four major villages to take out Uzu and even then, almost a week to destroy the village. We also still have at least 30 to 60 of the clan either here or on their way here so the clan is not completely wiped out.
At this, the teacher stopped the children and had both Kushina and Naruto find a seat. They both sat in an available seat, with Kushina near some other girls and Naruto beside Minato. Minato smiled at the boy beside him, wanting to know more about him. "Hi! My name is Minato Namikaze, nice to meet you. If you need anything just tell me and I will help!" Minato said, making Naruto stare at him before smiling. "Sure, thank you for the offer Namikaze-san." At his answer, Minato pouted. "No! Call me Minato." At this, Naruto wanted to let out his very seldom used sneakiness and nodded. "Alright, Minato-san" "Not with that suffix either." "Fine, then Minato-chan," "Ugh! Now you are just doing that on purpose." Minato pouted, making Naruto laugh slightly. "Sorry Minato. But you were too easy to get riled up." Naruto said before looking at the front. Minato continued staring at Naruto for a minute before turning back to the teacher. 'You are interesting, Naruto Uzumaki.' He thought before listening to what the teacher was saying.
~~TIME SKIP~~
After the first few days of only theoretical knowledge, the Uzumaki's were almost crazy with the need to go outside. Kushina was not very good at hiding it and even Naruto, who had calmed down from when he was younger, couldn't wait to go outside. Finally, it was time for Taijutsu and kunai, and shuriken practice.
The teacher had the entire class line up and he randomly picked out names from the list. The first few kids were civilians, you could tell because of the lack of muscle on them and the fact that they either wore makeup or their stances were wrong, which was weird for both Kushina and to a slightly less degree Naruto. Naruto was slightly used to it since he grew up the first time with civilians not being able to fight that well before getting a Jounin sensei. But Kushina was completely confused, taijutsu was taught to all Uzumaki's, no matter if they were staying civilians or becoming shinobi.
When it was finally time for Kushina to fight, it was almost sad to see her defeat the civilian girl she was put against. The poor girl had to go to the hospital and get her arm healed. Finally, it was Naruto's turn. He was up against a branch member of the Kuame Clan, the clan that was wiped out when he was born. His fight was a little harder than Kushina's but was still embarrassingly easy. Naruto's unique taijutsu style made Kuame unable to hit him while allowing Naruto to hit all the pressure points in his arms.
Minato, who had already gone much earlier, was watching Naruto in surprise. To see such a beautiful taijutsu style, which was much different than Kushina's brawler style, was interesting to him. That two people from the same clan could be so similar in some things and so different in others, made Minato even more interested in Naruto than he was before. He knew that being so interested in someone like he is was weird and maybe even wrong, but he could not get the boy out of his mind. From his beautiful blood red hair to the slight quirk to his lips when he watches some of the civilian kids do something stupid, Minato was hooked.
After all the fights, it was time for shuriken and kunai practice, and it went pretty much as expected with the civilians getting the bare minimum and the clan kids getting almost all perfect, then it was time for Minato. Minato was from a merchant's clan so he was still considered a civilian until he gained his Hitai-ate. Minato, being the Rookie of the Year, managed to get a perfect score making Naruto a little impressed. He never knew that Minato was the Rookie of the Year.
The rest of the school day went as normal, with small little mishaps with Kushina pranking one of the teachers or students, but that was becoming normal too. It was at the end of the day that something different happened.
"Hey, Naru-Chan!" Minato yelled seeing Naruto walking with Kushina out the front gate. "Naru-chan?" Naruto asked while looking at Minato with a confused look. Minato lifted his hand to his head and laughed. "What do you say about doing some training sometime? I would love to see your taijutsu style and how well it would do against mine." Minato said, making Naruto smile slightly. "Sure, meet me at training ground 23 tomorrow at 10. I will even teach you some sealing tips if you want." Naruto says, remembering that Minato would become a real master in the future. "Sure!" Minato said before running off.
"I don't know why you hang out with that girly boy. He is weak, us Uzumaki's are much better than him." Kushina said before walking off. Naruto just sighed, he knew that Kushina had a crush on him, which was weird with her being his mother and all, but he didn't understand why she hated Minato so much. While he did know that they didn't get along until the kidnapping incident, he thought that they were at least civil towards each other.
What Naruto didn't know is that in his timeline, since Kushina was the only Uzumaki in Konoha, she was timid at first making Minato notice her. It was only later that she started to be more like herself but by then, Minato was already getting used to her, making him used to her personality. But in this timeline, since 62 of their clan was in Konoha she was not timid and just was her usual self, which made Minato not that fond of her.
Kurama knew this but he wanted to see where this would go. He did notice the looks that Minato shot Naruto and he almost couldn't wait to see his kit's reaction to his past father having a crush on him.
