The Professors presentation was in an hour. Fly and his family made food to prepare for a buffet for the Professor to give out to his guests and prepared their outfits for later that evening.
Fly was determined to tell Honey about his feelings, and he was going to do it tonight after two long years of keeping it in. He sat on his bed in a black suit without a tie, rehearsing what he was going to say to her over and over again as if his mind was a broken record.
"Fly? Honey and her parents are here!" Bill called up to him.
"Coming!" He shouted down to his dad.
He was nervous, so so nervous. Fly took a deep breath before lifting himself up from his bed, checking himself in the mirror before leaving his room. As he reached the bottom of the stairs, he saw her.
She was beautiful. Honey never failed to amaze him. She had her hair blow dried, a diamond necklace and a long, strapless emerald dress that framed her figure effortlessly. She looked amazing.
"Hello Fly." She greeted softly.
"H-hello Honey." He slightly stuttered.
"You scrub up very well I must say."
"You look beautiful, Honey." He whispered in her ear, making her face bright red.
"Thank you."
They both stared at one another for a moment, they really did think the world of one another.
"Right! Time for us all to go. The cab is here!" Honeys mother announced.
Both smiling, they followed the others out of the house into the cab that awaited them.
The presentation was rammed, a lot of people were there to see Professor Mackrill's invention. There were at least 100 people there.
Fly and Honey went off together to get a drink and they spent time with Stella and Chuck too. They spoke about the ocean, and Stella said she would've loved to have gone back for a day just to have fun.
"Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, just for a day. You know, when you're better..." Honey suggested to Fly.
"Maybe, that'll be a very long time away though."
"Baby steps, remember? All in your own time." Homey reminded him.
"Honey, I- I've been meaning to say this for a very long time. You mean the world to me and I-"
"Honey!! The Professor had a new balcony, can we go and have a look at the view?" Stella interrupted as she jumped with excitement.
"Sure!" Honey replied. "Sorry Fly I'll come back in a second."
"Okay." He smiled, but he felt frustrated. He nearly told her. He needed to tell her.
As Honey and Stella were on the balcony overlooking the gorgeous view, she noticed something peculiar.
A shark.
A shark that lingered under the balcony's building structure that was built into the ocean and on the cliff. Honey thought it was odd and she was fascinated.
"Stella, look! There's a shark!"
Stella froze slightly and shivered.
"I don't like those sharks, one nearly killed us when we were fish. He was a friend of Joe's." Stella told her.
Honey felt a lump in her throat, something didn't feel right.
Silence filled the Professors lab, she attempted to bring Stella back inside until a gun was pointed at Honeys face.
"Get back on the balcony." The deformed man growled.
Honey grabbed Stella and swooped her into her arms, both of them absolutely terrified as they were against the railing.
The deformed man booted the balcony door open, making all of the guests turn their attention to him including Honey holding onto Stella for dear life.
Fly, Chuck and their family look mortified.
"Nobody move, or they're both shark food." He threatened.
The deformed man had a gun and an axe in each hand.
"Where is the generator?" He sternly asked.
Everyone remained quite.
"WHERE IS IT? NOW." He shouted.
Fly slowly walked out of the crowd towards the deformed man.
"Joe... there's no need for this. Let them go, please." He pleaded.
"You think I'd give you stupid children any mercy? You ruined my empire and I will not let you take that away from me."
"What do you want, Joe?"
"I want the generator, I want it destroyed."
As Joe was currently arguing with Fly, Chuck made eye contact with Honey who still held Stella tightly. He rolled her a vial of liquid that was unlabelled, putting Stella down but still holding onto her she didn't understand what it was until picking it up. Chuck mouthed to Honey for her and Stella to drink it if they feel like there's no other way out of the situation. She slightly nodded, holding the vial in her hand.
"Why don't you understand you won't win, Joe. You will never be human." Fly shouted.
Joes mouth grew an evil grin, he shot his gun into the distance, close to Honeys head just missing her by a centimetre.
"HONEY!" Fly, his family and her family cried.
She fell to the floor in shock, holding Stella in her arms doing everything in her power to protect her.
"Please let Stella go she's only a child, please. Let her go to her family." Honey sobbed.
"Very well. Move child." Joe instructed.
Stella walked towards her mother and father, grabbing her tightly into their embrace.
Fly's chest was heaving with anger and fear.
"Where is the generator, or your girlfriend is dead." Joe questioned.
Fly couldn't take the pain of seeing Honey in fear, this felt as if this was all his fault.
"It's here..." The Professor spoke, pointing to the generator.
Once again, Joe took three shots of his gun into the distance out of the balcony before destroying the generator with his axe as he laughed. But before Joe stopped, the balcony that held Honey up was being destroyed from below. Shark was smashing all his weight into the structure of the balcony, until it snapped from the wall of the Professors laboratory. Honey screamed as she held on to the railing that was now facing towards the sea, the balcony was now hanging on by a bolt.
"Honey!!" Everyone screamed, including Fly.
Fly ran towards the balcony, but Joe stopped him as he pointed the gun to him after he had destroyed the generator.
"Drink it! Drink it now!" Chuck shouted at Honey.
Her hands shook violently as she drank the liquid in the vial.
Snap.
The last bolt was destroyed and she fell to the ocean as she hung on to the railing of the detached balcony but before she touched the water, everything went black.
Everyone screamed as Honey fell into the ocean whilst she hung onto the balcony for dear life, Fly screamed as if he had lost everything.
Anger took over, nothing but anger. He grabbed the fish potion antidote that was sitting on top of Mackrill's cabinet before dashing it into Joes face and luckily, he tasted it. Screams of Joe echoed through the laboratory as he transformed back into the regular pilot fish and he threw him into a tank.
Everyone from the presentation screamed and left in horror. The only ones left were Fly, Chuck, Stella, their parents and Honeys parents. They sobbed uncomfortably and Fly couldn't help but panic.
"Professor, I need the potion. I need to bring her home." Fly demanded.
"No! Fly, not after last time!" His parents begged.
"It's the only way to get over it and I need to bring Honey home, please." He said to both his parents and the Professor.
"Well, you may as well fix the generator whilst you're down there. I can fix it from here but you'll need to reactivate it from the device that's in the ocean."
"Deal, where can I find it?"
"Straight ahead, it's a big grey like box that have pipes attached to it." Mackrill explained.
"You're mad, Fly!" Chuck shouted.
"Probably, but if you're not coming I'm going alone. She needs me and I'm not letting any fish think they're smart enough to do this again. This needs to come to an end." Fly argued back.
Everyone was quiet, he had a point.
Fly reached for the potion, taking a swig. "Your choice Chuck." He said before jumping from the platform that once held the balcony.
"Ugh, here we go again." Chuck took a swig from the bottle, hesitatingly jumping into the sea.
Once they had gone, their parents worried frantically and decided to stay at the Professors until their return. Stella escaped her mother's grasp, drinking from the bottle rebelliously before throwing herself from the platform.
As they all splashed into the ocean, they were fish once again.
Fly suddenly didn't care about being back in the sea, the most important thing is to find Honey and fix the generator. He told himself he needed to get over it, and attempted to keep himself under control.
"Hey Fly... Look." Chuck shivered, pointing to sharks body lying lifelessly under the heavy structure of the balcony.
"That sharks always been stupid." Fly scoffed. "Let's not hang around, we have 48 hours. We need to find Honey AND fix this generator."
"I'm right here." A delicate voice called out.
A silhouette of a fish swam towards them, before noticing it was Honey.
Fly grabbed her and twirled her around. "Oh thank COD."
"Nice pun." She laughed. "I'm okay, I promise. Just a bit shaken."
Fly didn't want to let go of her, but when he did he noticed how she was exactly like him.
She too was a Californian Fly fish, but females have bigger fins to attract a mate and she was a subtle red colour. He had to admit, she was even beautiful as a fish.
"Let's get moving, we need to get this done." Chuck announced.
They all swam north into the ocean as Fly and Honey swam side by side as Stella sat on his back.
Fly never let go of Honeys fin that day, and he never will again.
"She is my safe place"
