The sun was setting, and now they only had 24 hours left to find the generator and fix it before they were stuck as fish forever.
Shelly knew the perfect place to set up camp, which wasn't too far away from the generator. Her and Chuck came up with a perfect plan to get Honey and Fly to spend some time together, and to hopefully confess their feelings for one another.
Shelly got the others to follow her into the small cave, which was spacious for them all to rest inside. Fly lay Stella down to rest, and found a big blanket of sea weed to snuggle her up with. Stella soon drifted off to sleep. Honey, Chuck and Shelly were talking amongst themselves about how far the generator was from here and that they will finally no longer have to worry about any intelligent fish again once it is reactivated. Fly swam back over to the group, settling next to Honey and Chuck whilst Shelly lay opposite them.
"You know, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get some food. Maybe you and Honey could go over to the other cave opposite to find some." Shelly suggested to Fly, winking at Chuck discreetly.
"Which cave?" Fly asked."
Shelly got up to point in the direction a huge cave that was a shadow in the distance. "It's not far, only a 10 minute swim."
"Sure, you coming Honey?"
"Okay. See you guys soon." Hone replied to Fly before turning to the others.
As they both swam off, Chuck and Shelly looked pleased with themselves.
"Let's hope this works." Chuck said.
"It will, I'm sure of it." Shelly smiled, before settling down to go to sleep.
Chuck did the same, before they were all sound asleep.
Fly and Honey swam towards the massive cave in the distance, fin in fin.
"So... what food should we even be looking for?" Honey asked.
"Anything edible I imagine. Then again, I don't think Dolphins like eating kelp." Fly chuckled softly.
"I guess not." She chuckled back.
Flys expression suddenly dropped. "You know... A part of me is going to miss being a fish, but another part of me is happy I can put this all behind me."
"That's because you know you're overcoming your fears. Maybe this was what you needed to happen." Honey replied.
"I guess so... I just wish I didn't drag you into this." Fly sighed.
She could detect how guilty Fly felt. But she squeezed his fin tightly with a small smile on her face. "Even though I had no say in this, I couldn't be more thankful that I got the chance to experience this adventure with you."
A flash of light distracted them from the cave, they swam cautiously into the cave until it revealed a swarm of intelligent fish that were dancing to a band of fish playing musical instruments with fish made contraptions that created flashing lights. It looked like some sort of party. Honey and Fly were amazed, they stood to admire the sight until Fly pulled her to the centre of the cave to dance on the sand amongst the other intelligent fish. He twirled her around as they laughed and danced together, he admired her beauty even as a fish although he did prefer her much more as a human.
"I can't dance Fly! Especially with these flippers." She laughed.
"Maybe so, but you'll have to make do until we're human."
"I didn't know you were the sort to dance."
"Well, no... but it's fun and even more so when you don't know how to dance."
"I guess so."
"Prom is next week, which I completely forgot about." He reminded.
"Yes... I don't think I'll go."
"Why not?"
"Because I have no one to go with."
"Well... will you go with me? To prom?" Fly asked.
"You mean that? You'd want to go with me?"
"Of course... I wanted to ask you for a while. I just didn't know how to." Fly admitted whilst he twirled Honey around.
The music suddenly changed, the vibe was now more slow with saxophones and other instruments. Fly danced with Honey more slowly this time, captivated by her eyes as she stared directly into his.
"You know... even though I won't miss being a fish, I've enjoyed every second being one with you." He told Honey.
"You mean that?"
"Yes... Honey, there's been something I've been meaning to tell you for a long time."
"What is it?" She softly asked.
"Well... ever since I met you I always thought you were the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my life. Then a year after I met you, I realised that... I love you. You make me shy and you always catch me off guard without even having to do anything but stare at me with them beautiful eyes or smile at me. You're everything to me Honey, you always have been and always will be. I love you."
She stared at him lustfully, lost for words.
"Oh Fly... I love you too. I've always loved you."
"Really... you've always felt the same?"
"Of course I have. Wasn't it obvious or were we just oblivious?"
"We we're definitely oblivious." He chuckled.
Fly pulled her close, closing the gap between them and held her.
"You're my safe place." He told her.
She smiled into his chest before looking up to him, Fly looked into her eyes before leaning in and kissing her softly before dancing the night away.
They were finally happy that they had admitted their feelings for one another.
"Keep looking for those irritating fish, now! I'm not having my empire destroyed!" Reggie bellowed.
"Yes sir." The swordfish replied before swimming off.
Reggie had began a search party to look for Fly, Chuck, Stella and Honey. He wasn't having them destroy his empire and fixing the generator. He needed to get rid of the generator but before he could do that he will need to find it.
"Boss, look! It's those two fish!" Spike nudged Reggie, before pointing to Fly and Honey swimming back to camp holding fins as they laughed.
"Let's get them!" Ham said, before Reggie held him back.
"No... let them go. They can lead us to the generator, then we can go in for the kill." Reggie chuckled. "We will follow them. We need to stay close and hidden. Once we've found it, Spike can get the army before we confront them."
"But what if they manage to activate it?" Stripes asked.
"They won't, they'd be dead before they even attempt that." Reggie snapped.
The others gulped in fear before following Reggie to the reef to stay hidden as they watched the others as the night crept into morning.
