Chapter Sixteen
FBI War Room…
Half hour later…
Charlie was hard at work with equations with Larry watching his young friend and thinking about where the two men could possibly be.
'For all our sakes, we better find them before something else happens.' Larry thought, as he also worried about Megan, as she was semi-conscious now but doctors still wanted to wait before she had visitors as they seemed to be closer to figuring out the gas that she and the others were knocked out with.
'Though, from what the doctors have told me, it doesn't look like there will be any long-term effects on her or anyone else, as far as they can tell.'
Colby and David were in better shape than Megan but they still had to be in the hospital to be monitored, in case of other effects, which annoyed Colby to no end. He felt he should take part in the investigation to locate his boss and Alan but he was eventually convinced that it would be better until doctors cleared him to leave.
Millie was also doing better and seemed to be more aware of her surroundings and was able to say a couple sentences with Charlie before her doctor had them leave the room to let her rest and Charlie promised to come see her as soon as he could when he was allowed to.
Ian Edgerton was in the war room with them, as he wanted to make sure neither of the consultants tried to do anything crazy if new information was found. Nikki was still with the agents at the hospital, as she wanted to be the one to inform them of any new information about any of the patients.
Amita was going through the camera footage, the ones that were still operating at the time of Don's kidnapping, and there didn't seem to be much to go on with the cameras inside the building but had better luck with the cameras outside the building. She was looking at the garage cameras and found a promising lead when she found video of a suspicious vehicle there and saw a couple masked men waiting inside one of them.
Her suspicions were further confirmed when she saw a man being carried by anothe masked man and thought the man looked familiar. She immediately went to go to the war room when she recognized Penfield and show Ian and the others what she had found.
For Charlie's part, he managed to narrow down the locations where Don and Alan could be but it was still about several miles of search area and he was trying to narrow it down even more.
When Amita showed the three the footage of the vehicle taking Marshall into it, Charlie had to will himself from bursting in anger but did manage to laugh that Penfield had to be unconscious to try to avoid suspicion when he already sent a note to Charlie that he had taken Alan and Don.
'Is Marshall trying to set up an alibi and say that he was kidnapped too? Because that letter is in his own handwriting.' Charlie thought, as he was confused by this.
Ian saw the look on Charlie's face and knew that his younger friend found it as odd as he did, but then both of the men had the same thought when they realized that Marshall didn't intend to get caught and one of the men had to improvise.
'Penfield may be smart, but he is no criminal mastermind.' Ian thought when another agent walked in.
"Sir, we found some fabric in the interrogation room, and we might be able to find some useable DNA on it, too." The agent said
"Good, let me know when you have the results, Agent Markis." Ian said
"Will do, sir." Markis said as he left the room
Ian turned to his friends and gave them a wary smile.
"Don't worry we will find them soon." Ian said
"I hope so." Charlie said, though he was still worried that they won't be able to find them despite the evidence they were finding.
'I just hope it will be enough.'
