Chapter Seventeen
Meanwhile...
Outside the hideout…
Thompkins was waiting for his contact to come and give him the information he needed to protect himself and was wondering what was taking the man so long.
'I am paying him a portion of the money from selling the intel, so I don't know why this man would be late.'
Finally a vehicle showed up and the said informant got up to the car to meet up with him with an apologetic look.
"Sorry, I had a difficult time getting out of the building to bring you back the information." The man informed him
"Why? Are you suspected?" Thompkins asked him suspiciously
"I don't believe so but the reason was because the brass there were trying to get us to look into some information about the case we are involved in and I had to make up an excuse as to why I had to leave and I will need to return soon."
"All right, can you hand me the information and you can be on your way." Thompkins said, growing more impatient by the day.
"Fine and the money will be wired back to me tonigh, right?" The man asked, who looked annoyed at the look on Thompkins' face.
"Yes, it will be wired to you tonight between 11:30 and midnight, like we agreed on." Thompkins confirmed
"Good, because I have held up my end of the bargain and I want you to do the same for me." The man said
"Don't worry, Brian, you will get everything you want and then some when this whole thing is over." Thompkins said, trying to refrain himself from yelling at the other impatient man, as he was already wasting enough time as it is.
"Thanks, sir, I'll be in touch if you need anything else." Brian said as he handed the folder over to the older man and went back to his car and left.
'Well, Brian, you certainly are useful, despite your mouth sometimes.' Thompkins thought as he went back to the building to check on the prisoners and proceed with the next phase of the plan.
'I'm sorry Dr. Eppes, but the information in the case you are investigating is too valuable for me to let you look further into and your family has to pay a price.' He thought as he walked up with one of the men preparing to eliminate the older brother.
"Everything ready?" The NSA director asked
"Almost, sir." The man said, "Just need a few more minutes and I'll be ready."
"Just hurry, we are already on crunch time as it is." Thompkins said.
Somewhere on the road…
Brian smiled bitterly to himself, as he was not happy that he was dragged into something like this, as he hated drawing attention to himself and wanted to just do his job.
'Well, Thompkins, you are not the only one who likes to plan for things.' He thought to himself as he had the real folder of the information Thompkins was desperately trying to get a hold of.
'I just hope I bought myself some time before I get found out by Thompkins.' He thought to himself before dialing up the phone.
'Let's hope Dr. Eppes will take my call.'
