Chapter Twenty-One
Inside the warehouse...
The same time…
Don was breathing heavily, as he was trying to get his bearings from being shocked by one of their captors.
'I don't know how much I will be able to take but I just have to hold on long enough for someone to find us, I hope.' He thought to himself
He was feeling a little cold and feeling more sick from whatever they injected him with and he really hoped that someone would come sooner than later.
Alan was concentrating on a way to stall these people and keep his son safe for as long as possible and he was at a loss on what to do.
'I could try directing the man towards me, but might prompt Donnie to try to protect me despite his own condition.' Alan thought to himself
Before anyone could do anything, sirens suddenly came on, which startled everyone, and Thompkins' turned white, as he couldn't believe that anyone would be able to find this place so soon.
'How in the world did they find us?' He thought to himself
Penfield was just as shocked, as he thought his own plans were fool proof and immediately looked around to try to escape from the incoming cops.
'I need to get out of here.' He thought while he was panicking
The would-be torturer immediately backed off from the captive Eppes men and went to go look for his gun to prepare to fight anyone from the outside.
Outside the Warehouse…
Charlie wondered what to do next after turning on the sirens, as he wasn't sure what Ian wanted him to do next, but he knew he had to do something.
'I know that Don and dad wouldn't want me to help this way but I really have to do something.' He thought to himself
Charlie looked through the car and found a gun, and figured that he could use it to help Ian contain the situation.
'Just have to remember the FBI training.' Charlie thought to himself as he raced to join Ian.
Ian was scouting around, looking at a promising entrance when he saw the younger man catching up to him and decided to just roll with it.
'I have learned a long time ago to never try to talk an Eppes out of something when their minds are already made up.'
He waited for Charlie to catch up and they both snuck into a door that Ian had found earlier and went as quietly as they could, though the sirens made that an easy task for them to do so.
Charlie nearly froze when he saw Thompkins and Penfield together and any little hope he had that Thompkins wasn't involved was gone and he realized that they also had to take them in before more damage was done.
'This is going to suck.' Charlie thought before he focused on his father and brother, and felt an anger rise in him when he saw Don struggling to breathe.
Before he could do or say anything, Ian pulled himself to whisper:
"Don't worry Charlie, I got this, they wouldn't do anything with me here." Ian said to his younger friend.
Charlie nodded, knowing Ian was right, held back when Ian stepped into the room with the other people.
"All right everyone! Stand down and put your hands in the air!" Ian shouted, which caused both Thompkins and the others to look at him in shock, with Penfield being the first one to put his hands up in confusion.
'Don't do anything stupid, Penfield.' Thompkins thought to himself as he looked at the men, weighing on his own next move.
