It's been few days ever since everything is back to normal. Akako was right, none of their friends remember the events of what happen on that changed reality. The adults that was claimed to be Edogawa are in prison for different issue and so the name Edogawa disappear as reality change back to normal and Conan is the only person with that name around them
In the morning, Shinichi gets up and quickly prepare breakfast for him and his little brother. It's been so long since he's the one who cooks breakfast because Conan always wake up early and make it for them and only few times he overslept if there was a heist in the previous night. But ever since that incident, he has been oversleeping so sometimes they don't have breakfast or Shinichi make quick toast for them. While today since Shinichi doesn't have school since the only people who go to school is just students who still have bad grade in their last exams so he can make proper breakfast for them. As he toasts some bread, he heard moan coming from the door
"Good morning Shinichi-niichan" said Conan who rubbed his eyes
"Good morning Conan" said Shinichi smiling while cooking the eggs and bacon
Conan sits on the chair of where he always seated for eating and see closely on what the teenager is making
"Western breakfast?" asked Conan as he looks
"Yeah, it's easier to make rather than Japanese breakfast" said Shinichi as he cooks
"Sometimes I make it for us"
"You always prepare it the night before for our meals on the next day, it becomes your habit before that incident"
"Hehehe, sorry for not making it for these few days"
"It's fine, if you not feel to do it then it's okay. I already used to make this kind of meals before you moved here"
Shinichi quickly finish cooking and they eat together on their usual spot. They just eat quietly while looking at the news on TV. Moments later, Conan whose done washing the dishes look at Shinichi reading newspaper on the sofa. Conan remembers that his big brother doesn't have school today so he goes in front of him without saying a word which surprised the high schooler
"What's wrong Conan?" asked Shinichi as he close the newspaper
"Niichan… Can I… take a day off from school?" said Conan look down
"Eh? why suddenly, is there something wrong?"
Shinichi was surprise and confused at the same time on his brother's act. Conan rarely ask for day off from school knowing his love for school and friends
"Trip…"
"Trip?"
"Tomorrow is weekend after all… Can we have a trip, just two of us?" asked Conan in low voice while looking away
Shinichi didn't expect the request from his little brother, he smile and then pat his head which make Conan looks up to his big brother's face
"Alright, after what happen to us before, I will gladly grant your request. How about we go to Nagano? I heard there's a good Onsen there" said Shinichi smiling
"Yatta! I will pack our stuff!" said Conan happily as he dashes to his room
Shinichi can't help to smile by his little brother's act. Shinichi quickly dial the elementary school informing that Conan has some business to do so he will not be attending school today
Time Skip~
They go to the famous Onsen in Nagano. When they arrive, they go to their room and they can see that their room included a view of Nagano from the big window and balcony. Shinichi put their clothes on the wardrobe while Conan on the balcony enjoying the view
"Woah! It's beautiful!" said Conan happily
"Conan, don't get too close on the balcony" said Shinichi as he look around the room for futon and other stuff
"Okay!"
Shinichi can't help to smile seeing his little brother's happy face. Conan look around their room and surprised that their room is bigger than average rooms that they used to when they visit Onsen
"Nee, isn't this room little too expensive?" asked Conan to his big brother who's changing to Yukata
"Ahh the Onsen staff told me that they only have this kind of room since the regular one is fully booked. Well once in a while wouldn't hurt right?" said Shinichi with a smirk
"Well if you say so…"
"Come on, let's go see around. Hurry and change"
"Okay!"
After that both of them goes around the Onsen while looking at the natures around. Conan look at the flowers that arranged very well in the park. Shinichi took that chance to take Conan's picture since he barely has pictures of his little brother which notice by Conan
"Shinichi-niichan! Stop taking my pictures" said Conan pouting
"It's fine right, I'm sure mom will be happy with this" said Shinichi smirking
"Oi oi…"
Conan then quickly took his phone and ask a stranger to take a picture of him and his big brother together which the stranger gladly do it. Both of them pose together with peace sign and after that they both continue sightseeing
Time Skip~
It was already night, both Shinichi and Conan are now at the outdoor bath just warming in the nice hot water
"Ah this is nice…" said Conan as he rested his head on the rock
"You could say that again… Occhan really did make good suggestions when it comes to Onsen" said Shinichi
"Yeah… The view is great and the food is so delicious! Though Ran-neechan was surprised when you told her that we're going here"
"She almost want to join us, luckily we're already on Shinkansen"
"I'm surprise you get to reserve one? You said the reguler one already full booked right"
"It's easy when you have dad's credit card"
"Oi oi… what will we do when he knows about it"
"Do nothing… that old man will not be angry when he knows what we have been through. Also the price of our room and tour is merely 10% of their money to get away from editors and countless couple trips"
"Hahaha… we have crazy parents indeed"
"That's why we are like this"
Both brothers laugh by their talk about their parents. Moments later, Conan put half of his face to the water and close his eyes. Shinichi sees his little brother and quickly goes in front of him which shock the grade schooler
"What?" asked Conan surprised as he look away
"Are you… still thinking of what happen to us?" asked Shinichi while holding his hands
"Can't be helped… I was the one who got separated… It haunted me ever since"
Shinichi put his forehead to Conan's forehead which grab the boy's attention. Conan can feel how uneasy Shinichi's eyes are
"Conan… You're not the only one, the fact that I live as an only child and found you were abused by those adults have been haunted me too… Mom and dad did surprise me about having you coming to our lives but I feel very relief you are born to be my brother. Ever since that amusement park accident, I pledge to protect you no matter what because I'm your big brother and that's my responsibility"
"Shinichi-niichan…"
"Unable to protect you before I rescue you really haunted me. What if I'm too late… What if those adults kill you even before Kid try to make us remember… What if I have to live on that reality forever… That haunted me every time I close my eyes or the fact you're not by my side… "
Conan can't help to smile in verge of cry hearing the words from his big brother and he hug him close. He was indeed scare by the events but Shinichi also got some mental damage on the events
"Thank you… I'm very happy that Niichan care about me this much" said Conan with a big smile on his face
"Of course, we are brothers after all" said Shinichi serious
"Um!"
Suddenly the boy notice scars in Shinichi's body from the amusement park accident and hotel accident.
"But I'm sure in that reality… you don't have these scars on you" said Conan with a sad smile
Conan can't help to look down and unconsciously hold the scars, Shinichi hold Conan's hand that was holding him to grab his attention
"Hey, it's fine… These scars are my achievement protecting you and Ran" said Shinichi in low voice to calm his little brother down
"I just can't stand seeing this" said Conan in sad tone
"Sshh shh, it's alright… We will protect each other no matter what"
Conan can't help to smile as he heard what Shinichi said while touch Shinichi's hand on his cheek. Both of them then agree to go back their room since it's quite late for them to stay up
In their room
Both of them talk about some news that they found on the internet as they lie down side by side in their futon
"Mostly about robbery huh…" said Shinichi as he look his phone
"Well for you not getting a murder case for one day is already an achievement after all" said Conan smiling
"Is that a compliment?"
"Hehehe"
Shinichi look at Conan's face who's now giggle. Shinichi just smile relief seeing Conan already in good mood now. Conan notice his stares and confused
"What's wrong?"
"No… nothing" said Shinichi as he pat Conan's head
"Okay… let's get some sleep, we have city tour tomorrow after all"
"Yeah"
Both of them go asleep side by side in the futon. Conan already drift to darkness while Shinichi still awake and see his little brother's sleeping face with a relief smile. He gently put his hand on Conan's head and pat him
"What would I do without you buddy…" thought Shinichi as he drift to darkness while holding Conan's body
The next day
Conan wakes up and surprised to see Shinichi's hand on his body, he looks at his big brother's sleeping face and smile like a child that was given a favorite toy. He can't help to hold his hand as well
"What would I do without you Niichan" thought Conan as he hold his hand
With that Conan seems doesn't want to get up so he goes back to sleep feeling the warmth of his big brother's hand. After few days having nightmares about what happen to him, today he didn't get any nightmare and have a comfortable sleep with his big brother by his side protecting him
