March 7, 1943
The food was good. The company was better. Anna was quite enjoyable to be around. Course he already knew that from the other night, but this time was different. It was just the two of them. Yet it didn't feel awkward at all.
Well, maybe a little given the fact that he was currently in Henry's clothes while most likely the exact opposite thing was happening to Henry.
"More tea?" Anna asked.
"Yes please." Replied Leon.
"Sorry about Maggie, I can't imagine where she is." Said Anna as she refilled his teacup.
"Oh, I'm sure she's enjoying herself." He replied as he took a sip of the tea.
"Oh please, Maggie has two things, work, and home." Said Anna.
She took her seat across from him at the rather small square table.
Leon took another sip of the tea.
"You'd be surprised."
"Oh?!" Anna questioned
"You know what." Started Leon. "Maybe we shouldn't discuss Maggie's business behind her back."
Anna smiled as she took a sip from her own cup.
"You're right." She responded. "It's much more fun to discuss her business in front of her."
The two shared a laugh.
"So do you live on the island or?" Asked Anna.
"Well no, like I said I'm a messenger of sorts." He answered trying to be as vague as possible.
"So how long do you plan on staying here?"
Leon thought for a moment, then realized something…
"Um… actually I have to go." He said as he drank what was left of his tea… probably faster than he should have. It was still pretty hot.
"I thought you were waiting for Maggie?" She said.
"Just tell her…
…She has a wonderful roommate." He said figuring that would either be taken as sweet or awkward.
Either way it ended the queries into his personal life.
Anna chuckled lightly. "I think she already knows that." She said.
"I'll just grab my clothes." He stated.
"You can change in our bathroom if you like." Said Anna
Then it hit him. He literally had around 18 minutes to get from here to South America. The closest weak point was. About a 20 minute walk.
Normally 2 minutes wouldn't be that big of a deal but one doesn't show up late to a meeting like this.
Leon had to think of something. If he went into the bathroom and disappeared Anna would most likely be suspicious.
However, showing up late to the meeting… well he didn't even want to think about what would happen to him if he did that.
"Here are your clothes." Said Anna breaking Leon's thought off his dilemma for a moment.
"Thank you." He said as he headed to the bathroom to "change".
As he removed Henry's clothes and replaced them with his own he realized it was now or never.
Either way, he would have some explaining to do.
The real question was…
…Who would he rather be explaining to?
Present Day
"Can I have like two real quick minutes with Alex for a second?" Asked Jonas.
He had asked that every time they came, yet this time felt unnecessary. She knew they both remembered the other times they had traveled here. What exactly did they have to talk about?
Nevertheless, she obliged him.
"No it's—it's fine, Ren, go up ahead and we'll catch up with you." She said leaving just her and Jonas at the dock area.
Jonas hadn't offered her a cigarette like he normally had, but that made sense. He probably remembered she wouldn't take it anyway.
"So..." Jonas began. "Umm… Well…"
He seemed to be struggling to get the words out, so Alex decided to help him along.
"If this is about destroying the source and everything, then don't worry about it. Leon said we just do things like we normally do and he'll show up and give instructions on what to do next. So let's just handle this like… well the best way we can." She assured him.
"Oh… yeah that makes sense but I actually wanted to talk about something else." He said as he came down the dock stairs and approached her.
"What else is there?" She asked.
"Well… see…"
"Just say it." Alex told him. Though she had no idea what could be so difficult to say.
"That kiss." He said finally.
Alex felt butterflies jump from her stomach up to her chest area.
"What? I thought I dreamed that?" Alex exclaimed.
"No, that was real." Jonas assured her.
Alex couldn't see but most likely her face was most likely beginning to turn at least a little red. What had seemed like a dream, then a nightmare, had now become reality.
One of the worst things was she had kissed Jonas because she knew the time loop was coming and it hadn't occurred to her that he would still remember until after she was already doing it. Then she was sure she had dreamed about the whole thing and had pretty much put it in the back of her mind.
"You know what." Said Jonas breaking Alex from her train of thought.
"We don't have to talk about that now. We got more important things to deal with." He said as he began walking toward where Ren was waiting for them.
"Y… Thank you." Was all Alex could think of to say as she joined him.
He was right. She couldn't deal with this right now. She had only just found out that it had actually happened and they still had to get to the beach, the caves, activate the source, get Cl… well they had a lot of things to do.
She would just have to try her best to store… whatever they did before the loop in the back of her mind until after…
…They destroyed the source.
Thank you all who made it to the end.
Short chapter I know but I think it's best to leave it there and have the events of the island start in a new fresh chapter.
May God bless you all.
