The reception was held inside Santa and Mrs. Claus's house. The flowers were brought in from outside, and all the food was prepared. Everyone sat in the dining room, and Snow Miser stood up and got their attention. When the chatter quieted down, he said, "We want to thank everyone for coming, and we want to especially thank Santa and Mrs. Claus for letting us use their home for the wedding and reception, Mr. Bennett for the beautiful flowers, and my brother, Heat Miser, for making the cake."
Everyone applauded and cheered.
Snow gestured at Heat to stand up, and he did while Snow sat down next to Nina. Heat Miser said, "I'm not really good at making speeches, but I thought I'd at least try for the sake of my brother and my new sister-in-law." He cleared his throat. "These two...What can I say about these two? I personally believe that a partner should bring out the best in someone, and Nina definitely does that for Snow Miser, though it's no easy task."
Snow guffawed. "Very funny, Hothead."
Heat chuckled, then continued. "But in all seriousness, there is no doubt in my mind now that these two are perfect for each other. Nina, not only are you a great partner to my brother, but you are a great friend to me and all the rest of us up here. You accepted us without question, and you love without limits. I couldn't ask for a better sister. I wish you both all the happiness in the world."
After the speech, Snow and Nina cut the cake. It had four layers, and all of them were chocolate with blue icing. The bride and groom both said it was the best cake they had ever tasted.
When everyone was done eating, they all went to the living room, where Snow and Nina went to the middle for the first dance while the rest stood at the sides, watching. They joined in once the first dance was over.
Later, Tingler broke away from the festivities and stood in a room by himself. The Great Ak approached him and asked, "Tingler, are you alright?"
Tingler turned towards him. "Hm? Oh, yes. I just needed some space to breathe. It's crowded in there."
"Indeed, it is." Then, the Master Woodsman grew serious. "You have changed these past few months. Is something troubling you?"
At first, the Sound Imp seemed surprised by this statement, then, he looked down. "I keep thinking about when I was captured by the Awgwas. I thought there was a chance I would never see Snow Miser or Nina again."
The Great Ak stared at him, thoughtfully. "Have you told them this?"
Tingler shook his head. "Maybe someday, I'll speak to them about it, but not today."
"Yes, today is a day of celebration. Come. I believe Nina is going to throw her bouquet. It's a tradition, I was told."
When they returned, Nina was getting ready to throw her wedding bouquet. Heat Miser caught it, and his face turned a deep crimson, blushing. Delighted, Melvin kissed his cheek, then Heat looked at him and smiled.
The reception went on well into the evening. As it began winding down, Nina and Snow Miser danced together again. While they slow-danced to a love song, Nina told her new husband, "I never dreamed my life would be so...magical."
Snow smiled at her. "Neither did I. All the loneliness..."
"All the emptiness..."
"All the pain..."
"All of that has faded, now that we're together." She laid her head against him as he pulled her closer.
"I can't promise you perfection, nor have I ever been able to, but I can promise you love and friendship," Snow told his wife.
"That's all I want," Nina told him. "That's all I've ever wanted."
She kissed his lips, and they stopped dancing. For those moments, time stood still, and all that mattered was that they were together, safe, and loved.
Hope and love kept them going and always would.
