Everybody inside the room was shocked to hear the question from the girl.

"What are you saying (y/n)? It's me, Roy Mustang." –Roy

"Roy Mustang? Who are you?" –(y/n)

Despair can be now seen from the always poker face Colonel Mustang and everyone was not used to seeing this.

"Wait! Wait! Is she having an amnesia moment?" –Havoc

"What are you talking about Jean? I don't have amnesia, silly." –(y/n)

"Huh? You remember me?!" –Havoc

"Of course silly! Who would forget someone as lame as you." –(y/n) snickered

"That's mean!" –Jean (who was crying dramatically)

"Then how about me? Do you remember me?"

"Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye." –(y/n)

"Me?"

"Sergeant Kain Fuery." –(y/n)

"How abou-"

"Really, Edward? What's with all of you? I don't have amnesia." –(y/n)

"Then how about me? Do you know who I am?"

"Excuse me, have we met before? Wait! Your voice! Alphonse?! Is it really you?! You got your body back! I'm so happy for the both of you!" –(y/n)

"Why can't you recognize me?" –Roy

"I'm sorry, Mister. I don't think we've met before." –(y/n)

"That's weird, she remembers everyone except for the Colonel. Hey (y/n)!" –Edward

"Yes?" –(y/n)

"Do you remember your superior's name? How about Hughes' best friend? Do you know who the Flame Alchemist is? And, what was the name of the guy you love?" –Edward

YOUR P.O.V.

"My superior's name? Who was it again? Maes' bestfriend? Why can't I remember? Flame Alchemist? Who is it? The guy I love?! I love someone?" –These are the thoughts that were running through your mind.

Your head started to hurt.

"Are you okay?" –Roy

"I don't remember the answer to those questions. My head hurts whenever I try to think." –You

"Could it be… her memories were the ones taken by the Truth?" –Alphonse

All the attention was now on Alphonse including yours.

"My memories were taken by the truth?! The truth takes away the most important thing from you, right? Then, why just memories? Why? Why just the memories of him?" –You

"It's because you're in love with the Colonel, right?" –Havoc

"I'm in love with him? Wait, are we a couple or something?" –You looked at Jean

"Don't ask me, ask him." –Jean dodged the question

You look at the man and he gives you a sad look.

"Then it's unrequited then?" -You

The man averted his eyes from you. There was a long silence in the room. Nobody wants to break it.

"If it is unrequited, isn't it for the better? I mean, my body is complete. There is no physical damage at all. Just memories of one man." -You coldly said.

You saw his expression became more hurt. You don't understand those looks at all.

"Or… It is not unrequited at all? Do you feel the same?" -You asked the man straightforwardly.

Your question gained a look from all the occupant in the room.

"Are we going to hear the Colonel's confession?" -Jean joked.

"I.. I- I-..." -Roy

There was another silence.

"Guess not. This amnesia thing is making me confused. I would like to be alone at the moment. Please don't follow me." -You stood up and started walking towards the door.

"(Y/N)..." -Roy

"Please.." -You

After closing the door, you clasped your chest so hard.

"Why does it hurt so much? Why am I so bothered by the fact that he didn't love me back? I don't even remember anything about him at all. Then why?" -These are the thoughts that are running through your mind as tears fall from your eyes. You found yourself walking towards the rooftop.

THIRD PERSON'S P.O.V.

As soon as (y/n) closed the door, Havoc angrily walked toward Mustang and grabbed him by his collar.

"What the hell Colonel?! You still can't decide at all?! Why the fuck you can't answer the question? DO YOU LOVE HER OR NOT?!" -Havoc

"I.. I don't know… It's just…" -Mustang can't find any words.

"I didn't know that you're such a coward. You just keep her hanging. You keep on hurting her. If you don't love her the way she loves you, at least reject her properly. She sacrificed a lot for you. She keeps on considering you in every choice she makes. But you keep on invalidating her feelings." -Havoc

Mustang kept silent and this made Havoc more angry.

"ARGH! I don't know anymore! Like what she has said, isn't it for the better that her memories were lost. At least she won't suffer anymore from your half-assed attitude." -Havoc angrily walked out of the room.

After another minute of silence, Mustang also walked out from the door and Lieutenant Hawkeye followed him.

"*Sigh*I wonder what will happen now. I really feel sad about (y/n). I thought things would be ok. The Colonel was so devastated when (y/n) died. The way he looked back then was full of regrets. I wonder what he is thinking right now. -Fuery

"Brother, I think you should find (y/n) and talk to her." -Alphonse said to Edward.

"I don't know if I should Al… She said she wants to be alone." -Edward

"I'm really worried about her right now. I think she needs someone to talk to." -Alphonse

"Okay, I get it. I'll try finding her. Are you feeling okay now?" -Edward

"I'm okay now, thanks brother! Now go find her." -Alphonse

MEANWHILE…

Mustang kept on walking until he reached a park and sat there. Behind her was Lieutenant Hawkeye and sat behind him.

"You must think I'm an idiot right now." -Mustang

"Why can't you tell her? Why can't you tell her what you told me before?" -Hawkeye

FLASHBACK

"COLONEL! There's bad news!" -Fuery

"What is it?" -Mustang

"There has been news that (y/n) has passed away in Xing!" -Fuery

Mustang immediately stood up from his seat. It felt like cold water had been poured all over him. His heartbeat is beating fast, his hands are becoming cold. He ran all the way to the Fuhrer's office. Guards stopped him from entering the office but he kept on shouting like a crazy man.

"SIR! WHERE IS (Y/N)! TELL ME THAT ISN'T TRUE! GIVE HER BACK TO ME!" -Mustang kept on shouting

The Fuhrer opened the door and told the guards to let go of Mustang.

"WHERE IS SHE! WHERE ARE YOU HIDING HER!" -Mustang shouted.

"Lt. Col. Mustang, I didn't know you were an emotional man. Too bad she contracted an unknown disease in Xing. It seems that the disease was contagious, that's why even her body was burnt there. She was a very valuable pawn to me, too bad she met an unexpected death. Had I known this would happen, I wouldn't have let her go to Xing. The poor little girl." -Fuhrer

Mustang was left alone outside the Fuhrer's office. He was devastated. Tears start falling in his eyes.

"Colonel, stand up. Let's get out of here."

Mustang didn't even notice that Lieutenant Hawkeye was now beside him. They walked out the building and went to a nearby park. Once they arrived, more tears fell from Mustang's eyes.

"I shouldn't have let her go. I should have stopped her from going. If I knew she wouldn't be…" -Mustang

"(Y/n) was a very sweet girl. Despite all the hardship, I always find her smiling. Not until Lt. Col. Hughes died. She kept on striving even if she was dying inside. There was also never a time she didn't show how much she loves you." -Hawkeye was starting to tear up but manage to control her emotions

"I'm an idiot, right? I always let her suffer with my cowardness. Even though I…" -Mustang

"I always knew Colonel, I always knew you also had feelings for her. I was always beside you. It was hard for others to notice but I knew. You kept your distance out of respect for your friend who treats her like her own daughter. But you know what Colonel? Lt. Col. Hughes knew about your feelings for each other. He told me that he would like me to support you. He knew you were a coward if feelings were involved. He also knew that you might hold back your feelings because of him. He doesn't want to be the one to push you because he wants you to muster up the courage on your own. He loves (y/n) very much, and of course he wants her daughter to be happy. He just wants you to prove your love for her." -Hawkeye

More tears are flowing from Mustang's eyes. He is filled with so much regret right now. Hearing all the words Lieutenant Hawkeye said made him more broken.

"It's too late now. I should have told her. But now… I feel so empty..." -Mustang

"Colonel, (Y/n) won't be happy if you keep on beating yourself like that. We all love her and we are all sad that she is dead but knowing her, she wouldn't like it if we were to break down like this." -Hawkeye

"What's stopping you now Colonel?" -Hawkeye

"I don't know… I've hurt her too much. I almost killed her and after that she avoided me… I thought she didn't love me anymore. She didn't even tell me her plan. She told Edward everything but kept it a secret from me." -Mustang

Hawkeye grabbed Mustang by his collar, making him face her.

"You are really a coward when it comes to your own feelings! The way she sacrificed herself for you, doesn't it show you how much she loves you?! Do you want to regret it again? You were given another chance to tell her how you feel, and now you are holding back again?! How much of an idiot are you?!" -Hawkeye

"But she doesn't even remember me anymore… She doesn't love me anymore…" -Mustang

"Your stupidity is annoying Colonel. Who cares if she doesn't remember you? So what if she doesn't love you anymore! She was much braver than you, even if in her point of view, you will never love her the way she loves you, she still admitted it. And here you are now being a coward just because she can't remember you?" -Hawkeye

"You know what, I'm done with this push, if you were going to be satisfied with this situation, then decide on your own. If you want to suffer, it's your choice. At least now, (Y/n) will be free from hurting. Think about this carefully Colonel, only you can make a decision for this." -Hawkeye stood up and left Mustang alone who was still lost from his thoughts.

AT THE SAME TIME…

YOUR P.O.V.

"Why do I feel like this? I feel like crying but I don't know why. Tears won't stop falling." -You

"(Y/n).."

You quickly wiped your tears and faced the person who called your name.

"I pretty sure said that I want to be alone Edward." -You

"I'm pretty sure you still wanted someone to talk to." -Edward smiled at you.

You smiled back at him but tears started to fall again.

"I'm a pretty good listener, you know? Let's sit there" -Edward

You and Edward sat on the floor. There was a moment of silence until Edward broke it.

"Why are you crying? I thought you can't remember him at all?" -Edward

"That is what is making me confused right now. I don't know that man, but whenever I see him, my heart aches. When I asked him if it's mutual, even though I don't recognize him, I feel like my heart is breaking." -You

"Maybe because even if you truth erases him from your mind, your heart still recognized him" -Edward

"But it doesn't make sense. If my heart would still recognize him, wouldn't it make sense if Truth took it all?" -You

"That bastard isn't generous at all, I can't understand him but I know that He always chose the things that would make us suffer." -Edward

"That's true, even if I don't remember him, just seeing his face makes my heart hurt." -You

"I don't know, (y/n), to me, it looks like he loves you too but holding himself back." -Edward

"Edward, I can't really say anything about that, if that's true, why would I be like this." -You

"What's your plan now?" -Edward

"I really don't know… Maybe this will go away soon. Since I don't even remember him, maybe this confusing feeling will go away soon." -You

THIRD PERSON'S P.O.V.

After Alphonse and (Y/N) were released from the hospital, the Elric Brothers went back to Resembool. (Y/N) took a break from the military and stayed in Gracia's home. (Y/N) started smiling again. It's like she went back to her old self. There are still times she will cry because she misses Hughes but with Gracia and Elicia by her side, they manage to comfort each other. Since taking a break from the military, she hasn't seen Colonel Mustang in a long time. Since there were no memories, and she hasn't seen him in a long time, the heart aches are subsiding.

Colonel Mustang became busy as well. Because of what happened in the military, there were a lot of things he had to take care of. He was in charge of the East and still hasn't given up his goal to be the next Fuhrer. He decided not to be involved in (Y/n) life anymore but he secretly went and see her without her knowing. He always makes sure to check on her at least once in a while. Seeing (y/n) smile again, makes him content. There were times he felt like calling her and telling her how he feels but he always managed to stop himself. He didn't want to bother her anymore.

Two years later…

YOUR P.O.V.

You wake up from your alarm. Another day to spend on leisure. It's been two years. You've been freeloading at Gracia's for two years. Even if you were assigned household chores, you felt guilty for staying here too long. Gracia said she doesn't mind but you want to help more at least.

That man, Colonel Mustang, you haven't seen him for a long time. Whenever his sad face at the hospital came into your mind there will always be a pang of pain in your heart. There are times that you feel his presence. Like Edward said, even if you don't remember him by mind or memories, your heart kept on calling him. Remembering that it is a one sided love, you hold back yourself fearing that you will only get hurt.

"Alphonse! Come in." -Gracia

"Alphonse is here?!" -After hearing Alphonse's arrival, you stood up and ran to the door.

"Alphonse! Long time no see! You looked much healthier the last time I saw you!" -You happily held his hand

"Long time no see (y/n), you look much happier now. I'm so happy for you." -Alphonse

"It's nice to see you again, Gracia-san , Elicia-chan!" -Alphonse

"Come here, sit down." -Gracia

Alphonse came in and sat beside (y/n).

"Araa, it seems like we don't have enough ingredients today." -Gracia

"Oh no, Gracia-san you don't have to bother." -Alphonse

"I will go and buy some, I always talk to Edward and Alphonse through letters so you two catch up with each other. I'll be quick." -You

"Thanks dear." -Gracia

You went out and bought some of the ingredients Gracia needed. After around 30mins you went back and overheard Alphonse and Gracia's conversation.

"There was a little girl who we weren't able to save… We haven't been able to forget about her since then." -Alphonse

"Then what do you plan to do now?" -You

"Oh (y/n) welcome back." -Gracia

"I'm going to Xing. I plan on studying the purification arts with May's people. Not just Xing. I want to see as many of the eastern kingdoms as possible, learning everything I can along the way." -Alphonse

"That's… I read that in one of the books when I was studying in Xing, I think what you are searching for is somewhat related to the alchemy I've learned in Xing. Can I come with you Alphonse?" -You

"EHH?!" -Alphonse

"Ehh? (Y/n)?" -Gracia

"Nee-chan you're leaving? :(" -Elicia

"Mama, I've been thinking for a while now… With the power I have, I feel like I have to help other people. With these two years, I have been able to clear my mind from revenge and all the hurtful things I've experienced. As I was talking with Ed and Al through letters, I thought that I want to be a doctor. There are still things that I want to learn. I think somewhat, my goal is aligned to what Alphonse is looking for. It is time I have to do this… Is that alright with you?" -You

"I'm honestly shocked at the moment, but seeing the determination in your eyes, I just can't say no. I'm so happy that you found your path again." -Gracia

Gracia gave you a warm hug. You felt like crying. Elicia hugs you too and is now crying.

"Nee-chan come back soon, okay? Take care of yourself." -Elicia

"Of course, Elicia, you too okay? Take care of mama for me. You can do that right?" -You

"Un!" -Elicia beamed a smile at you.

"Uhmm, is that alright with you Alphonse?" -You

"Of course! It will be much easier since you have a start in the research. I'll be happy to have you on board." -Alphonse

"Thank you so much Alphonse! When will we be leaving?" -You

"We'll leave the day after tomorrow, so you don't have to rush packing your things." -Alphonse

"Got it! Thanks!" -You

NIGHT BEFORE DEPARTURE

"Can I come in?" -Gracia knocks on your door.

"Yes, come in." -You

"Are you done packing? Did you check all your things?" -Gracia

"Hai, I've already checked it." -You

"Check it again, you might have left something." -Gracia

"Mouuu, Mama, I already checked it. There's nothing more." -You

Gracia laughed and gave you a hug.

"Are you sure you're not leaving anything… someone?" -Gracia

"Mama… I don't think I do… I mean it's been two years. This doesn't even remember him." -You said while pointing to your head.

"But this misses him, right?" -Gracia said pointing to your heart.

"It doesn't even matter now… He doesn't even feel the same. It's been that long and he hasn't seen me, not even once after I got out of the hospital. Since Edward said he might have feelings, I kind of expected something but nothing happened." -You

"How about you? Why haven't you visited him?" -Gracia

"I was scared… Even if my heart felt something for him. I don't remember who he is. What kind of person he is or what he thinks of me…" -You

"What if he feels the same? What if he is scared of how you would react. You don't remember him. You two haven't even talked properly." -Gracia

"I don't know… :(" -You

"Anyways, you have to take care of yourself, okay? I don't want any more bad news about you. I don't want to lose another person I love." -Gracia

Gracia turned off the lights and closed the door. You sigh, there is a little pain in your heart as soon as you think of him. You brushed it off and tried to fall asleep.

THIRD PERSON'S P.O.V.

"COLONEL I HAVE NEWS!" -Fuery ran towards Mustang who was in their office.

The man who was called was buried in a lot of paperworks and he is not amused by it.

"What is it Fuery?" -Mustang

"(Y/n) will be traveling to Xing tomorrow with Alphonse Elric." -Fuery

Hearing (y/n)'s name made him stand up, making all his paperworks fall and spread on the floor.

"I JUST FINISHED ARRANGING THAT COLONEL" -Havoc shouted

"Tell me what again Fuery?!" -Mustang

"Tomorrow at 9am, (Y/n) will be departing for Xing with Alphonse and some other guys." -Fuery

Hearing (y/n)'s name and Xing together bring back trauma in Mustang's mind. He is in panic right now.

"If (y/n) will go to Xing, the Colonel can't stalk her anymore. Tsk tsk." -Havoc teased

"I..I-am not stalking her. I'm just checking if she is fine." -Mustang defends.

"Yes, by checking her every week. Do you know how far her house is from here?" -Breda added

"Nevermind that Colonel stalk (y/n), so what's your plan Colonel?" -Falman

"Even if I leave now, I won't be able to reach in time." -Mustang's realization gave him a hard slap.

"So, are you just going to let this pass? You're not going to make an effort at least? Still as cowardly as ever?" -Hawkeye

"THAT'S RIGHT COLONEL! IF YOU LOVE HER, GO NOW! DON'T MAKE HESITATIONS! I'M STILL MAD ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO SO GO NOW!" -Havoc

"Colonel! Catch!" -Breda

Breda throws the car keys and Mustang runs towards the car and runs it as fast as he can.

"Do you think he can make it?" -Fuery

"Calculating the time, I don't think so." -Falman

"*Sigh* Do I really have to do everything for that Baka-Colonel." -Hawkeye sigh as she dials the telephone.

THE NEXT MORNING.

8:50 AM

"The train for Xing will be departing in 10 minutes. Please go now to your seats."

"Damn it! 10 minutes left! Will I make it?!" -Mustang shouted as he approached the station. He drove 8 hours straight without stopping. And now only 10 minutes remain until (y/n)'s departure.

"Please let me make it." He prayed under his breath.

Few minutes after he arrived at the station, he sprinted towards the train leaving for Xing. But as soon as he arrived, the train had already departed.

"(Y/N)!" -Mustang shouted

He was devastated. He missed the chance again. He was literally standing there for 10 minutes looking at the trail of the train. With a heavy body, he started walking towards the exit without a care in the world.

"Colonel Mustang?"

Mustang slowly raised his head and saw (Y/n) standing in front of him. Without any words. He ran towards her and engulfed him in a tight hug.

"What happened? I thought you already left. I thought I didn't make it in time?" -Mustang asked as he was still embracing (y/n).

"Co-colonel?!" -You blushed as the man in front of you still not letting you go

YOUR P.O.V.

8:30AM

"Where is it? Where is it?!" -You started rummaging through your bag as you looked for a missing item.

"Something wrong? (Y/n)?" -Alphonse

"My pocket watch! I can't find it! I was so sure I put it in my bag." -You really remembered putting it in your bag so why it wasn't here

"Maybe you left it, it's okay (y/n) we can take the next train. No need to worry." -Alphonse

"Oh no, you can take this train. I'll just take the next train, I'll call mama to bring it here." -You

"Are you sure?" -Alphonse

"Of course, I've traveled to Xing before. We'll just meet at *** Inn so we don't have to waste any time." -You

"Okay, take care." -Alphonse

(Y/N) walk towards the telephone booth.

"Yes, hello, Hughes' residence." -Gracia

"Mama, I'm sorry, it seems that I really left something." -You

"Is it your pocket watch?" -Gracia

"How did you know?" -You

"*Giggles* I saw it in your room." -Gracia

"I swear I put it in my bag. T_T" -You

"It's okay dear, you can ride the next train. I'll bring it to you. Wait for me." -Gracia

"Thanks Mama. See you." -You

"(Y/N)!"

"Yes, who called me?" -You heard someone call your name.

"Co-colonel! What are you doing here? Wh-" -You

"I'M SORRY! I'm really sorry for hurting you. I really regret being a coward. I should have told you earlier. I should have told you that I love you so much. (Y/n) I love you. I really do. I was a coward. I didn't have the courage to face the truth. I thought I only cared for you as my friend's daughter but I cared for you more than that. I had so many things stopping me from liking you. But what happened two years ago opened my eyes and made me realize how much I love you. I was really broken when I thought you died in Xing. I was happy seeing you again but I was scared of admitting my feelings until you… you forgot about me. I became more scared. I didn't have anything to hold on you anymore. I was foolish. I should have told you earlier. I'm sorry. I know this is selfish of me to bother you. It's just I can't take it anymore. I don't want to be separated from you again." -Mustang

The Colonel's sudden confession made you stop functioning.

"Did I hear it right? He loves me?" -You thought

Tears started falling from your eyes. Your heart started pounding really loud. So loud that it hurts. But it is not an unpleasant feeling anymore.

"So… It is not unrequited?" -You

"Wha- Why are you crying? I'm sorry for forcing my confession on you. I know you don't know me but…" -Mustang

"Un… That's right, this doesn't know who you are." -You said while pointing to your head.

"But this… This always screams on how much this loves you." -You said and more tears fall on your eyes while clasping your chest.

"I don't care anymore even if our memories disappeared from you, I can fill it up with new memories, this time it will be happy ones. Will you accept my love, (y/n)?" -Mustang

"Yes, I accept it. I love you Colonel." -You

"Thank you, I love you (Y/n)"-Mustang

You hug each other again. You can hear his heart beat faster and faster synchronizing to your heartbeat. His face slowly lessens the distance from yours. Heat rose from your stomach to your chest. You slowly close your eyes as you tiptoes towards his face. Then he kissed you, passionately. As if the both of you don't care if there are people around.
