The next evening, Zero woke from his daylight slumber with a yawn. He was disappointed that X hadn't stayed with him in bed. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. The redhead couldn't feel X's presence anywhere near him, causing him to grow worried. He slowly walked outside the house and keeping his eyes peeled for a little dark brown green eyed werewolf. He gave a loud whistle, followed by calls of X's name. Worry consumed more of him when no immediate response came. Zero made his way back to the house to retrieve a weapon to accompany him in the search he was about to embark on. Near the front door, he made out a weak howl that sounded like a wolf calling his name. Zero scrambled for the house, retrieving an ancient scythe before rushing out and taking flight away from the house and garden.

In a field far from the old house, two large werewolves had roughed X up. X's mouth bled, his breathing weak, and his chest torn of its hair and soaked in blood. One werewolf knocked X over so that his tail moved and stood over him. As the werewolf was about to take the smaller weakened werewolf puppy from behind, a sharp curved blade cut the other werewolf in half and knocked the two halved away into the distance. The werewolf standing over X saw the blade then rise above him next. This made the werewolf run, yipping in fear into the distance. Zero lowered the blade slowly, shedding a tear of blood at the sight of his werewolf pup before him. X whimpered, starting to howl Zero's name. Zero gently turned X towards him. "Shh, your master is before you." X tried to get up, but fell right back down. Zero sat down in the tall grass. "No..you're dying..I forbid this!" X whimpered weakly. Zero's hands glowed red as he gently held X's chest, carefully healing him. "They tried to rip your heart out..Was that the group you mentioned before? The one you escaped from?" X nodded weakly, keeping his eyes on his master's face. Zero shuddered in anger. "They've truly crossed the line with this."

After a long while of healing, Zero was able to fix a few broken ribs, mend X's wound, and regrow the fur over it. He then wiped the blood from X's mouth carefully. "I've managed to heal your wounds and your broken bones. Are you able to walk or are you still too weak?" X tried once again, but dropped to the ground. Zero noticed another broken bone, this one in X's left front. "Your leg too. My poor pup." The redhead reached and lifted X into his arms, taking a gentle hold of X's left leg, making his hand glow again. "I'll take you home and nurse you." X weakly licked Zero's cheek where the blood tear had rolled down, leaning against Zero's chest. Zero snuggled the werewolf pup before taking flight back to the house.

At home, Zero carefully laid X down on the couch. X had picked up just enough energy from Zero's healing to change to his human form. Zero looked X over. X's chest was fully healed, but his left arm was still limp. X's breathing remained slow. Zero gave X's left arm more healing, keeping a close eye on him. "M-Master..they a-am-ambushed me..while I was..in t-the garden..Th-they said..they wanted..to finish th-the job.." Zero nodded. "Unforgivable..That one got away, but if I ever see him again, I'll make sure he breathes his last." X continued. "Th-they were g-going..to rip me open..a-and eat my heart.." Zero shook his head. "Just as I surmised..There are things I wish to do with your heart, but such things as them would be very disadvantageous in my eyes.." X eyed his master weakly. "W-what would master..d-do with the h-heart of a lowly puppy..?" Zero finished healing X's arm, gathering X in his arms as he sat down on the couch. He then sat X in his lap, leaning X's head against his chest. "Silence such discouraged thoughts, my little X..You possess more value than you think." X's head rested against Zero's chest. "W-will master..a-answer me?" Zero nodded. "Ah, yes..I can hear your heartbeat for as long as I can feel your presence..I crave to fill that heart with love..and make it race so much it skips a beat..I would fancy giving a gentle chest massage to soothe it..I would enjoy letting your heartbeat soothe me to sleep..Most of all, I want it to beat alongside mine for eternity." X lost a few tears. "Yours makes me..feel so safe..as though I had passed and gone..to heaven.." Zero chuckled. "I admit..such a reaction is surprising to me..The heart that beats in my chest is as pitch black as the socks on my arms and legs." X snuggled Zero gently. "Master..you've shown me..that a black heart is not always malevolent..The hearts..of my attackers..if they have hearts..are truly black in the old sense..Yours might be black..but its strong, loving, and pure.." Zero snuggled X gently back. "You truly believe that is what you've borne witness to in me..?" X nodded. "I truly do.."

Zero gently laid down on the couch. X slowly and carefully turned towards Zero's chest, snuggling him tight. "Will I..make it through this long night..? Will my heart beat as one with yours for the rest of my life..?" Zero gently held the back of X's head. "This hardship shall pass. A steady recovery alongside me should help you immensely. Your heart, I sense, is already gradually beating as it should." X clung to Zero. "Master..I'm scared..If I rest, I might never wake up..Death looms over me.." Zero clutched X in his chest. "He will have to take me first. You will survive this. I will see to it." X gulped. "Please, master.." Zero rubbed X's head gently. "Shhh..I'm right here..Your master will guard you..Should Death try to take you, I will stand ready in his path..Rest now."

Zero didn't move from the couch until X woke up the next evening. He had sensed numerous improvements in X's body, though he would still have a while to go until he was fully recovered. X slowly opened his eyes, slowly looking at Zero's chest and then Zero's face. Zero grinned, seeing X awake and breathing better. "See? You survived that long night. You'll be alright, little X." X snuggled Zero's chest tightly, sighing in relief. "Thank you, master..I was so scared I would be ripped from you." Zero chuckled. "In the condition you were in, I don't find it difficult to relate..I've been in a few steep scrapes too..Though when you are fully recovered, I feel compelled to perform the ritual on you.." X tilted his head. "The ritual..?" Zero nodded. "Passing my gene for immortality on to you." X grew more curious. "Why must we wait until my recovery, master?" Zero drew his head close to X's ear. 'Because in order to give you my gene and sew it into your body, X, not only will I have to bite you but I will also have to be inside you.' X blushed brightly. "Inside me? Like possession?" Zero shook his head. 'I am capable of possessing others, especially the weak minded, but no. By being inside you, I mean that I will have to mate with you.' He sensed X's heart skipping a beat and starting to race. X blushed brightly. "The ritual requires you to mate with me? Would you mate with me outside the ritual?" Zero nodded. "Of course I will. Though when you are healthy and able to handle it. As your body is presently, you could get hurt severely. I don't wish to harm you." X blushed more. "That would be beautiful, master. Have you mated before?" Zero shook his head. "No..You have the right to take me for yourself and make me your claim." X smiled. "As do you with me." Zero frowned. "Those others raped you, correct? They were about to do it again." X looked down. "I know. I was taken as a toy for them." Zero kissed X's forehead. "This time, you will be taken for love. Same of the many more times in the future." X blushed more. "More in the future?" Zero nodded, kissing X's lips. "Many more times in the future. We can take each other until our hearts are content. Perhaps, even..." X watched Zero. "Even...what?" Zero smirked. "If it becomes your wish, then I'll give you puppies of your own." X covered his face, hiding a bright blush. Zero chuckled. "It would be easy to give you the female parts needed. All you would have to do is tell me when you're ready." X moved one hand, speechless. He could only imagine what puppies with Zero would be like.

X had to calm down for a while. Zero's ambitions had made him very excited. Zero gently massaged X's chest, watching him. X visibly relaxed near his master. "That feels so nice, master." Zero grinned, keeping the massage going. X groaned gently for the massage. "When does master think I'll be ready for the ritual?" Zero grinned more. "Another night or two." X smiled. "Good." Zero pet X's head as he finished the massage. "Are you hungry?" X nodded. "I am. Very hungry." Zero started to sit up. "Wait here. I'll make something for you." X caught Zero's arm. "Master, don't leave me by myself." Zero chuckled. "Its just us in the house, my dear X. If you are able to walk now, you can accompany me." X slowly picked himself off the couch, a little wobbly at first but able to stand. Zero smiled, standing up after him and walking X to the kitchen.

Zero began to make soup for the both of them, getting his ingredients out of the pantry and refrigerator. "We need to check the garden too." X nodded slowly. "Master, I've only seen some of your powers to this point. What else can you do?" Zero smirked, cutting some vegetables. "Let me set up this soup and I'll show you." X nodded shyly. Once Zero was done and had the soup cooking on the stove, he walked to X. "So, you wish to see my powers? I must warn you; In your eyes, some of these may be invasive. As you've seen, I can show you my memories, I can heal others, and I can hear your heartbeat as long as I can also feel your presence. I can also sense your body's condition. In your case, you're recovering from an otherwise fatal ambush.. As I've mentioned, I can possess and control the weak minded, though I have rarely used this power." X tilted his head. "This may be an odd question, but what if someone in question was willing to be possessed by you?" Zero tilted his head too. "That's never happened. Unless you're saying that you're willing to be possessed by me?" X nodded shyly. "It would be an interesting experience." Zero grew concerned. "It would be interesting, I agree. Turn your back to me." X did as he was told. Zero made his hands glow a faint red this time. "My possession does not work in the sense that I get to tell another what to do while hitching a ride. Instead, the body of the one I'm controlling will move as mine does." X felt as if he were being touched directly by Zero's energy, but he wasn't. When Zero moved his arm forward and opened his palm, X's arm moved and his palm opened too. When Zero began to sway his hips, X's hips swayed too. X blushed as he felt his hips move. "Wow..this feels nice..but its strange. You're not touching me directly with your energy, but it still feels like you're healing me." Zero chuckled. "As humans call, a placebo effect, since my energy was used to heal you originally." He stopped the glow on his hands, releasing X's body. X turned back towards Zero, eager to see and hear more. Zero chuckled. "You give me plenty of vocal cues, but I can sense your feelings. I get the sense that you are shaken from the ambush, but you're also showing me a heart full of love and adoration." X hugged Zero tightly. Zero snuggled X gently. "I know some elements. Water, Fire, Wind, and Shadow. I am rather good with my scythe. I believe that's all." X looked up at him. "What element do you prefer?" Zero smirked. "I have two favorites; Wind and Shadow." X smiled. "They fit you, though. Playful and flighty as the wind." Zero pitched in. "Lurking and mysterious as the shadows." X smiled more. "What element would fit your wisdom?" Zero chuckled. "That would be Earth. I can't control Earth. As you've seen, I'm mostly psychic."

X watched the redhead when the soup was done in the pot on the stove. Zero got two bowls and spoons, plus a ladle. He gave both of them two ladle scoops of the soup. X watched with wonder. "What is it?" Zero chuckled. "Its called soup, X. Its a sort of liquid that has meats, vegetables, and such in it." He carried the bowls back into the den and sat down, X followed close behind him. Zero started eating contently. X was confused as to how he should eat the soup. Zero could sense X's confusion. "Shall I feed you this once?" X nodded shyly. "I don't want to be a burden, but I'm confused on how to eat this." Zero shook his head. "Now, now..I didn't teach you to eat like a human previously. I'll fix that posthaste. Watch how I use the spoon as I feed you." X nodded, watching Zero take a spoonful of soup and bring it to his lips. X slowly drank the soup and ate the bits of meat and vegetables, relaxing a little against Zero.
